A guide for beginners who are entering metal detecting for the first time
https://mdinnova.it/en/guide
This small guide is dedicated to those who for the first time enter the world of metal detecting.
Usually those who approach metal detecting do not know what to choose at the level of the first metal detector.
First of all, we must consider that there are different types of metal detectors, there are single-frequency and multi-frequency metal detectors.
First of all, it must be considered that single-frequency metal detectors cost less than multi-frequency ones. So you have to consider what kind of research you want to do.
Research is usually divided into militaria, coins and gold research.
For the search of the militaria I recommend a metal detector with a low frequency. This is because the objectives that will be sought will be helmets, bayonets, medals and decorations.
So in addition to being usually buried deep, given their size, they will suffer from a greater halo effect.
To search for small objects such as coins and small buttons we will consider a medium frequency metal detector.
For the search for native gold, a high frequency metal detector is recommended, usually 40 khz.
Consequently, one is led to think therefore of orienting oneself immediately on a multifrequency but in the field various factors will influence the research so the choice is not so obvious.
HALO EFFECT
The halo effect is that particular effect that the detected object has when passing the coil over the target.
The target generates eddy currents, the same are picked up by the receiving coil and analyzed by the metal detector.
The halo effect is more intense the more the object has long been buried in the ground, this is because the oxidation of the object amplifies the size of the object and the eddy currents.
WHICH METAL DETECTOR TO CHOOSE
In consideration of the factors expressed above, the choice of the metal detector should be made based on the type of research you want to carry out.
From personal experience, if you are a beginner, I recommend a single frequency metal detector such as the Garrett ace 150 which has a low frequency of 6.5 khz. This will immediately allow you to have a good depth of research and to find most of the targhets, both militaria and medium-sized coins.
On the other hand, if you are oriented towards both militaria and small coins, I recommend starting with a multifrequency in order to expand the type of target detected. In this case, with an appropriate choice of frequency, it will be possible to prefer deep objectives or superficial objectives, small objectives or minute objectives. Always remembering, however, that at a higher frequency the detection depth decreases. A multi-frequency will therefore make it possible to detect a greater type of target.
The advice is to choose a multifrequency for beginners with selectable frequencies, a good headset since the small and deep targets generate a very weak and short signal.
A great metal detector is the Apex Garrett with ms3 pack and viper plate.
This specific metal detector has selectable frequencies from 5, 10, 15, 20 khz and is equipped with a wireless headphone with a wide frequency range. It also has a simultaneous multi-frequency mode that allows you to take advantage of the entire range of frequencies available at the same time. This specific ms3 pack comes with headphones, very useful for small and faint signals and a smaller and more performing plate that allows greater separation of the targets.
ADVANCED SEARCH
For advanced search we mean the specific search of a target in fields that have already been entered or the search for specific targets.
For this type of research in soils that are not virgin but already beaten I recommend the use of specific multifrequency metal detectors and with dedicated plates.
This is because in the specific search for military personnel such as buttons and small coins, a meta detector must have the maximum performance in terms of discrimination and sensitivity.
Sometimes it happens to search in fields already beaten, for this it is necessary to use advanced metal detectors that allow you to find what the other metal detectors have missed.
An excellent option in these cases is to choose metal detectors such as the Deus, the Deus 2, the Garrett 2500, the Minelab ctx 3030, the nokta Legend or the Garrett ATX.
If you are looking for the maximum depth, especially for searches for militaria and even small targets, a metal detector that I recommend for its excellent depth and discrimination performance is the ctx3030 which can also be immersed, fully programmable for demanding researchers and equipped with plates of different types for in-depth research or small tags such as gold nuggets.
All this type of metal detector has the ability to operate in multi-frequency, to reach excellent depths, to have different plates supplied to make the most of the different frequencies available.
Then you will choose the Garrett ATX or the Garrett 2500 for searches for militaria and coins, the Minelab ctx 3030 for searches for both militaria, coins or gold.
The Garrett ATX is the ultimate multi-frequency detector for all terrains and extreme conditions (highly mineralized soils, salt water, ecc.).
It features advanced pulse induction technology that allows for excellent depth, a design that meets military specifications, and a new DD coil design for extreme, uniform sensitivity to detect small pieces of gold as well as larger nuggets. .
The ATX is ideal for searching for gold, relics in highly mineralized soils, coins and jewelry in shallow water (up to 3 meters) but also for industrial applications.
The Garrett 2500 has the particularity of having an excellent depth, of being able to mount depth plates and detect deep targets and cavities.
All this type of metal detector will therefore allow a series of advantages.
The field, if already beaten, will have new targets available as greater sensitivity and depth will give greater results.
With the hope that this little guide is to your liking, we wish everyone a good brushing

This Stunning Gallo Belgic Ambiani E Gold Stater 50BC Recovered By Lisa Jones @norfolk_girl_detects using XP Deus 1 - Hot Program 💥 Plain obverse / Sinuous horse right, pellet below, other ornaments around. A wonderful example of this popular issue, bold, central strike showing good detail. It is commonly thought that it was these uniface staters which were used to pay the Gallic armies to fight Julius Caesar. The Gallo-Belgic C coins ended at the start of the Gallic Wars when Caesar attacked Gaul. They were replaced with Gallo-Belgic E (58-50 BC) which is possibly the largest series ever minted by the Celts. At the time of writing (2019) there are 1,019 known reverse dies, and over 2,100 known coins, leading to an estimate of 2,314 reverse dies (technically, somewhere between 1,778 and 3,318 dies, with 95% confidence). Assuming that one die could make 1,000 coins, total production would have been around 2.3 million coins. The early staters die link to Gallo-Belgic Ca, so are assigned to the Ambiani, but they were almost certainly minted, or at least financed, by the coalition of tribes at war with Caesar. It would take around 8,330Kg of gold to mint Gallo-Belgic E and it was unlikely that the Ambiani could manage this on their own, even if they recalled all of the Gallo-Belgic Ca coins and melted down their treasure reserves. The uniface design, whereby the obverse is blank, also suggests they were minted by a coalition of tribes. #treasurehunting #treasure #metaldetecting #metaldetectingfinds #history #metaldetector #treasurehunter #regton #treasurehunt #relics #coins #sondeln #dirtfishing #detecting #xpdeus #relichunting #coin #vintage #coinhunting #hobby #silver #detectorist #treasures #metaldetectinguk #metaldetectors #detectorsxp #metalldetektor #detection #xpdeusmetaldetecting @metaldetecting_diaries #RegtonFinds https://www.instagram.com/p/CpxUTM7qYzV/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
