robo-ky mk. ii redesign!!!! since the original is just a palette swap that copies moves, i felt like i could get really creative with it. so i made him a liquid metal android like the T-1000, but he's still not very good at imitating ky kiske and prefers to use over the top weapons. a big cape too cuz robo ky is sometimes depicted with one and i didn't put one on my normal robo 1 redesign

HGUC 1/144 P-Bandai Titans Research Prototype Mobile Suit RX-124 "TR-6 [Woundwort]" (XFS Knockoff)
My build for AoZ April - the Woundwort from Advance of Zeta - Flag of the Titans!! I was flirting with picking up a TR-6 for a few months but the shipping price on top of the already high P-Bandai markup made me reluctant. Luckily XFS had a knockoff for less than a quarter of the price!
I've built a kit from XFS before, the GM Spartan. Just like that kit, this bootleg is pretty high quality, definitely on par with Bandai, with pretty much no flashing and no more mould lines than an actual Bandai kit. However I did find that the tolerances were a lot worse, with some pegs being a little too large for their slots, requiring a decent amount of glue to hold everything in place. Unfortunately this messed up part of the Mobile Armour transformation but it doesn't prevent it luckily.
Just like the GM Spartan, the XFS Woundwort comes with a set of high quality water decals, although I couldn't find an application guide and so just made up my own placement which hopefully looks balanced.
Tumblr media
The kit itself is a really neat design, with some cool features that minimize parts-forming for the transformation and lend the suit a unique silhouette.
Lorewise the TR-6 was a test platform for a lot of technology that never made it into later designs and the unique look helps to emphasize this. The small dainty feet with fold-down sections resembling an Armored Core's landing gear rather than feet, the twin Minovsky Fusion power plants in the thighs rather than a single one in the chest, and the massive Long Beam Rifle/Claw make the Woundwort unlike anything else in Gundam.
It's not a particularly big model, standing at around the height of the Mk-II, but the Long Beam Rifle/Claw definitely takes up most of the kit's display space.
Tumblr media
The colour separation was pretty good, only missing some purple on the heat blades on the beam rifle and the tips of the shoulder stabilizers. There are colour correction stickers for these but I opted to just paint them. I think they turned out really well, you can't see the brush marks at all. There's also enough shiny foil stickers in green for all the sensors as well as eyes (which are unfortunately hidden behind the nose-cone), and a yellow one for the federation "v" on the front skirt, which I also ended up just painting. I also painted the red details on the arms and booster nozzles, as well as the really cool red fingertips, and the red targeting sensor on the beam rifle (which is gloss coated to look like the metallic stickers). There are also some yellow details on the legs that need painting on, which are visible in the Mobile Armour mode.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This kit comes with two open hands and two open fist options, as well as the Long Beam Rifle/Claw in its Rifle Form, with extra parts and a stiff wire to convert it to the sub-arm mounted Claw Form.
Tumblr media
There's also an extra "folded" torso that allows the parts to be folded and rearranged into the TR-6's Mobile Armour mode. I painted some of the details onto this, but it's really not visible at all, unfortunately. The little extra winglets also slip on for Mobile Armour mode but I'm not sure where they're supposed to be stored in Mobile Suit mode.
Tumblr media
Overall, I had a lot of fun with this knockoff. It's almost as good as I imagine the P-Bandai version is, although I'm sure it'd be a lot easier to pose with better fitting parts. If you're willing to put the work into it, and spend some time figuring out how to put the decals on without a guide, it's a great alternative to the office version and it'll provide a really cool looking addition to any collection.
Tumblr media
Happy (Advance of) Zeta April from my Zeta display!!
Tumblr media
I'm hoping we can get AoZ April a little more popular on Tumblr, I'd love to see what people come up with.

Recently I built a model of Metal Gear mk II, the robot sidekick from Snatcher. I used cardboard and duct tape, partially out of nostalgia for the materials I used to use but mostly since I was on a pretty short timeline since I wanted a visual aid for a panel I was presenting at an anime convention. It was fun to put Metal together!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I used a cheap handheld mirror from the hardware store for his neck, so it can extend and rotate just like in the game.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The compartment opens up, too.
Tumblr media
I made a couple of the paper inventory items from the game (trawled a couple thrift stores but couldn't find a chess queen to toss in). Would be fun to try and get more things, like making Gillian's JUNKER identification card!
Tumblr media
Metal Gear's size is a little odd... the Japanese PC manual puts him at around three feet tall with his neck contracted, though in all the ingame art across the versions he's depicted as closer to half that (approximately knee-high to Gillian) so I adapted that size for my model.
It would be great fun to make a more accurate model someday, even just out of foam, but it would be pretty difficult! Metal is made up of a lot of smooth, organic curves that are very difficult to model (you can see that I definitely made him more rectangular). The asymmetry of the screen/chest upper body make weight distribution very tricky on his two legs - even anchoring feet to a base platform and adding supports, he feels very wobbly (to say nothing of how un/loading the storage would affect that)! Finally, because the character only exists as drawings and was never actually modeled or sculpted, the details of his construction are really inconsistent! Perhaps it's no surprise that Metal Gear Mark 2 from MGS4 seems more popular for people to recreate...
Anyways! Metal went over well at the con and I like having this little guy hanging around my work area. A fun little project.

@syensy walked up to me and said "what if they were psychonaut type psychics" and I was like "What if?" and then I beat up Otacon for like over an hour but anyway.
Hal has four Archetypes
Pessimism - An archetype that takes the form of himself but in his father's 'shoes', pessimism is there specifically to talk down on Hal for a good portion of the time he created it. Hes blue because, as my partner put it, "Thats Huey's color I guess, unless you chose yellow."
Didn't chose yellow because yellow felt too bright?? I guess?? Pessimism eventually starts to cooperate and be helpful, as the other archetypes are, it just takes time and patience during the creation of Philanthropy.
Innovation - Innovation is the archetype that helps Hal come up with new ideas for tech! This particular archetype was created around the time he started working in the Shadow Moses. It takes form of the Metal Gear Mk. II, the joke is that he based the MK II off of it later on.
Innovation is green because REX is green in one of its concept arts.
Courage - Courage was created around when Hal met Snake, an archetype that often butts heads with the others, courage reminds Hal of who he is and what he can do even when hes feeling his deepest fears in the moment.
Courage is red because of Hal's mother's coat :) Doc helped me with this one, as he did all of the colors, I feel it fits nicely considering his mother (assumedly) cared for him.
The fourth archetype is a version of Snake that was created specifically for problems Hal can't solve but in the moment asks himself "Well what would Snake do??", haven't drawn this one because I uh,,,,I got tired,,,but I like to believe its color would be a soft teal, something comforting on the eyes and mind.

sonic 4 music and sonic superstars music don't even sound that similar after replaying them. and tbh even though I rag on it sometimes sonic 4's music isn't that bad apart from a few boss themes being repetitive, and that one song with the duck quacks. mad gear zone, death egg mk II, and metal sonic's boss theme are bangers ngl

Rating All The Metal Gears By Hotness
No, not the characters. Yes, literally the Metal Gears. If I forgot any, let me know.
Metal Gear TX-55 - 4/10
Tumblr media
This is just a lil guy. A friend, even. Reminiscent of a gonk droid from Star Wars. Sucks that he was made to do murdering. I can see where someone would find appeal, but not really for me.
Metal Gear D - 6/10
Tumblr media
This one I can see. He got some depth to him. Kinda shiny. More smooth, less boxy. Kind of insectoid. In most franchises this would be like an 8, but it gets knocked down because of what comes later being so much sexier.
Also can I say that MG2's spriting? Mwah. Chef's kiss. So pretty. Didn't even read the intro the first time I started it up bc I was marveling at the pretty spritework. I fucking love good spritework, just find it so much more satisfying than equivalent-quality 3D art.
Metal Gear G - 2/10
Tumblr media
Never actually completed or seen in game. Was supposed to be a smaller, mass produced version of D. Kinda sexy, loses points for being so fictional that it's only theoretical even in the games.
Metal Gear REX - 7/10
Tumblr media
OOOO YEAH, NOW WE'RE TALKIN'!! SHINKAWA ERA BAYBEY!!! Man's got impeccable taste. He could make a literal slab of titanium look inviting.
Rex is not the sexiest Metal Gear to me, partly bc Otacon treats it like a son or a pet dog and I find a 25-yo's son-analogue to be offputting. BUT. I must concede. REX is the blueprint for all the sexy traits to come. He's got the hips. He's got the saunter. He's just a lil too brutalist for me.
Metal Gear RAY - 11/10
Tumblr media
I know I have psychological problems because this thing's childbearing hips and murderous mandibles distract me during the boss fight.
Why is it so sexy?? What the fuck?? It's like mecha furrybait but specifically for people who are into garrus mass effect. Please tell me I'm not the only one, I'm pretty sure my boyfriend thinks I'm insane.
Arsenal Gear - 4/10
Tumblr media
Basically just an aircraft carrier. I would say not fuckable but it DOES, canonically, have a digestive tract and asshole so like. Technically fuckable I think. But at what cost?
Honorable mention for making me deal with Raiden's daddy issues and fight the sexy mech in this thing's enormous rectum (damn near killed 'em).
Shagohod - 4/10
Tumblr media
Not technically a metal gear. I can see the appeal, but it doesn't *quite* nail the drider-esque niche for me. It does get a bonus point for the way it moves being kinda sensual tho. Additional bonus point for being piloted by an evil fa-
Intercontinental Ballistic Metal Gear - 0/10
literally could not even find an image of this that wasn't completely dwarfed by the Saturn V rocket attached to it. Not really much to look at. If you've always wanted to fuck a Saturn V, I guess this would be a good way to get introduced.
Metal Gear RAXA - 2/10
Tumblr media
Somehow managed to capture "first day of kindergarten" energy in a death machine. I could be convinced based on its behavior tho. Damn, Portable Ops kind of an L design-wise, huh?
Gekkos - 9.5/10
Tumblr media
WHY DOES IT HAVE SQUISHABLE THIGHS?? SIR???
And the feet. Like, we gotta talk about the feet. Why? Why the toes? Why does it stomp on me with its weirdly well-defined toes??? Did they make this mech specifically to appeal to dinosaur foot fetishists? Why does it bleed? Why does it MOO???
Extremely fuckable to the point that it loses half a point purely because it *feels* like horny bait.
Dwarf Gekkos - 7.5/10
Tumblr media
This is an object that feels like it was designed by and for lesbians. I have no notes. Slightly offputting only due to the odd number of hands but it IS the perfect number for some activities, so honestly that may be a plus.
Metal Gear Mk II/III - 1/10
Tumblr media
Adorable. Not fuckable. This is a gopro with a personality. Not to be confused with the vampiric gopro with a personality from Ultrakill, V1. Literally just a baby.
Outer Haven - 5.5/10
Tumblr media
Only technically a Metal Gear by virtue of technically being a stolen Arsenal Gear which is technically a Metal Gear. Gains .25 each for being the site of the infamous russian tuant
Tumblr media
and whatever fucked up display of devoted homosexuality this is:
Tumblr media
also additional bonus point for being piloted by an evil fa-
Pupa - 3/10
Tumblr media
This is just the Shagohod but with an AI pod. -1 for being touched by Huey, but balanced out by the +1 from being made by Strangelove. Even if it IS creepy that she made her dead crush/girlfriend's psyche pilot it around.
Crysalis - 6/10
Tumblr media
Not super sexy but it does fly and has a rail gun where one could feasibly conceptualize a dick. Kinda MILF-like (has mini-drones). Has a grappling hook, so could do bondage. Probably would, ngl.
Cocoon - 1/10
Tumblr media
Pupa, but less sexy. I barely even remember this boss fight because the game became such a rush right around here, pushing you to the postgame/first ending.
Peace Walker - 7/10
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Weird dog, functioning by sheer lesbian willpower. She is beauty, she is grace, she would probably rate a lot higher if my emulator didn't suck ass and make me angry every time I see her now, fuck that bitch.
Rage aside, who doesn't love killing their momgirlfriend and then reliving that multiple times throughout the course of a single game, culminating in her just straight up pulling a Virginia Woolf.
Metal Gear Zeke - 6/10
Tumblr media
Really just nothing that special. Okay, wait, +2 for being piloted by an evil little girl in her panties for some fucking reason.
Also +1 for the sick ass boss fight.
Walker Gear(s) - 8/10
Tumblr media
HERE we go!!! Hell Yeah Babey!!! Basically human sized! Has lil Fuckin' Roller Skates!!! Carries My Ammo! My Best Friend! (Okay, third best friend, after Quiet and DD)
Yeah Huey developed it but it gets WAY more bonus points for letting me manhandle him.
Sahelanthropus - 7/10
Tumblr media
I can't deny the raw sex appeal of Sahelanthropus. Also, it's literally piloted by pubescent rage which is something I deeply resonate with ngl.
HOWEVER it DOES get docked points for uhhh
-getting strangelove killed
-making baby otacon a child soldier
-huey :/
Battle Gear - 0/10
Tumblr media
Is there even a single frame of this entire thing? Especially without Huey??
negative 1 billion points for blue balling me in the late game, i want to ride this motherfucker right into the kgb outposts and let 'em have it for what they did to babygirl

Had a dream last night about MGS4 DLC(?) that was 90% hacking minigames with Otacon and Sunny, as they try to crack messages left by Strangelove for her son in the coding of the Mammal Pod (?somehow?) that the Boss AI made backups for when it was clear she wasn't going to survive. Snake was making supportive hnghrhgh noises throughout. The whole thing was total MGS technological nonsense. Anyway, happy Thanksgiving.
AHHHHH A LITTLE GAMe entirely of otacon and sunny hacking their way into metal gears and gov systems when otacon keeps getting sent scheduled codes from a long dead strangelove. Triggered when it looks like someone gets ahold of her old ai work. And every successful hack gets u a piece of her ai data that slowly starts to take over nomad...
Also They will NOT get snake involved cause hes retired and going thru his gene therapy. He's off in the side lines either making snide remarks whwn u break mk. II on the field but a proud hnghrmgn when u successfully break into something (Pause menu has a camera on snake instead if sunny so u can keep track of how much better he's doing)

Arcade Gaming
An arcade game is any video game operated on an entertainment machine [so Pong on those funky tables along with the classics]. Said machines are typically public and coin/token-operated, but this isn't nescessary.
Initially, arcade games were an extremely niche, tracing their roots back the pinball and slot machines of entertainment halls. This would begin to see change in '62, when 'Spacewar!', one of the first video games, was released and saw an advancement of itself in Galaxy Game - one of the first 'true' arcade games. In '63, however, any advancement of 'Spacewar!' was eclipsed by Atari's release of Pong*, which saw other companies and corporations doing what they do best and realising they could make some money from these new-fangled 'video games'.
In '78, 'Space Invaders' was released by Taito, ushering in a golden age of Arcade Gaming and inspiring the shoot-em-up genre. However, Atari competed with Taito with their 'Asteroids', with 'Pac-man' releasing 2 years later as competition heating up between all arcade companies. During this, arcade gamers enjoyed increasingly developed and unique games, with the aforementioned 'Pac-man' being the first mascot character, and introducing the 'maze chase' genre. Side-scrollers as a genre also began in '81 with Konami's 'Scramble' which was later one-upped by Namco's 'Pole Position' as one of the first games using 16-bit graphics.
Although fighting game had existed before '91, that year saw the release of Capcom's 'Street Fighter II', introducing a control system that became a stable of the genre and console itself. Despite this game, its sequels and the genre seeing Tekken and the MK franchises exploding onto the scene, arcade games simply weren't portable enough and this limited their capability and so popularity. As a result, arcade games began to die. Although far less popular than in the late 70's to early 90's, arcade games still have popularity, partially through nostalgia and partially through the more involved controls. From halls of arcade games, we have returned somewhat to the entertainment halls of the late 50's and early 60's with the entertainment halls of piers in Britain for instance.
*[I know Pong is a retroactively-applied name, but you knew what I was talking about so it's good enough for me.]
'High-Score' aracde games: Pac-Man - pioneered the maze genre and solidified controls Tetris - unique gameplay loop, simple controls Crossy Road - identifiable graphics, extremely simple controls
Shooters/rail shooters: PvZ Arcade - Has an actual water gun, and is integrated into gameplay all the Raw Thrills games - uses an actual gun model and popular franchises [Jurassic Park, Alien, Terminator]
Racing game: ''Mario Kart'' games - i get to win the one boat game I played at a holiday site in Italy 2018 - uses a steering wheel, holds good memories [for obvious reasons] Motorbike games - uses a motorbike model, immerses the player
Fighting games: Tekken - one of the first fighters/brawlers to use 3D animation see entries for Brawlers below
Brawlers: Street Fighter II - a titan of the genre, pioneered the gameplay loop Devil May Cry - 3D hack'n'slash brawler with different combat styles Metal Gear Rising: Revengenance - world's best story. 10/10. Also the ability to cut anything, even stairs needed to progress the game.
Interactive: DDR - uses a [surprisingly expensive] dance mat as input Rabbits! VR - 3D, immersive experience designed to injure anyone over 60 Grabber games - rewards the player with physical prizes, and uses an easily-riggable claw

if it was up to meeeee it would be (for mainline)
shadohad* (MGS3) Pupa/Chrysalis/Cocoon** (MGSPW) Peacewalker*** (MGSPW) Zeke (MGSPW) Sahelanthropus (MGSV) TX-55 (MG1) D (MG2SS) REX (MGS1) RAY (MGS2) Aresenal**** (MGS2) Gekko***** (MGS4) Mk III ****** (MGS4) *I think the shagohad is largely considered a precursor to metal gears? i wanna say sokolov calls it a metal gear but granin (nice shoes guy) doesnt. idk in my heart it should count ** These ones are considered AI weapons and not metal gears i believe. even though chrysalis as a weapon that doesnt suck shit is like the best they ever did in the series so sad they were too busy making the nukes walk. theyre metal gear to me tho thats peacewalkers kids. *** PeaceWalker isnt on the wikis list of main series metal gears??? is it bc of the ai pod? is it bc it has the 4 legged mode thus not making it bipedal sometimes? aresneal gear isnt bipedal fuck you. **** Outer Haven might double up on aresenal gear since theyre like. the same thing i wanna say they build outer haven on aresenal ****** The Gekkos also arent consquidered metal gears even though they really should. its ur bipedal weapon my liege. ****** Otacons little ass robot counts as a metal gear on the main lists??? is it because it has metal gear in the name??? put my girl peacewalker on that list goddammit. this one also counts Mk II
as an aside maybe also battle gear? maybe? i diont really give a shit about it tbh. also if mk II/III counts as a metal gear the walker gears probably also should as well but i. dont give a shit about the other gears in V ill be so honest
finding out the answer to what is a metal gear is far more vibes based if i dont take the bipedal nuclear weapon description. why the fuck isnt peacewalker listed as a metal gear on the wiki she should count !
