I want to see more gentle moments.

I want to see Arthur when he's just woken up from sleep and Merlin is being kind of quiet because he knows Arthur was up till dawn pouring over magical laws. He brings him his meal, with extra sausage. He puts out the comfortable red tunic he knows he likes, and makes sure that his papers are all in order for his meeting this morning. Arthur softly smiles into his breakfast.

I want to see them in the royal chambers, Merlin silently removing Arthurs armor after a tournament. After everything is removed and set aside to be cleaned Merlin gently leads Arthur to the bed and grabs the balm. No words are exchanged while he sooths the aches and pains, always taking care of his king.

I want to see Arthur removing Merlins neckerchief. A group of bandits ambush them while hunting and Merlin takes a small hit to the shoulder. In his haste to check the wound Arthur tears the neckerchief from Merlin and grasps Merlin on the back of the neck on the opposite side of his head, tilting him to the side to inspect him further. Merlins breath catches and stutters but not in pain. Arthur realizes what he's done, but cannot let go. He's never seen Merlins collarbone before, and finds that he likes it. He looks up to his eyes and slowly puts the cloth on his pocket. He'll return it later.....maybe.

Merlin telling Arthur he’s so repressed that they’ve both nearly died for each other countless times but can’t even hug him, and Arthur being like WTAF, we’ve hugged, Merlin. You smelled like a bog, and I remember it clearly because it was the greatest moment of my life. I even pressed my nose into your muddy neck IN FRONT OF GWAINE.

Arthur’s upset that their hug was so meaningless to Merlin that he forgot it, and Merlin swears he will get revenge upon Morgana for stealing it from him.

Still no one talks about the magic because it’s BBC Merlin.

somehow for some reason the knights take on a spell that lights up the scars that litter their bodies. arthur has the most with leon as a close second. gwaine and percival and pretty much tied for third though gwaines are much smaller - from more brawls than battles. elyan and lancelot have their fair share but less that the others. that is until they turn to see merlin lit up like a goddamn glowstick. the others (bar lancelot) had been expecting maybe a few nicks from being on the outskirts of battles or mishaps from working on a farm back in ealdor, not……this. the light (which shines through their clothes as if the fabric isn’t even there) is practically blinding on merlin, covering every inch of skin. more so than even arthur. lancelot prompts them all to move on and everyone does, holding themselves back from asking the questions they desperately want answered

Modern BBC Merlin AU where instead of sorcerers they're vampires and Arthur is just as oblivious that his roommate Merlin is hiding anything from him. Bonus points if the Pendragons are vampire hunters.

Leon: Why does Merlin never have lunch with us? Arthur: He usually sleeps in because he stays up way too late. We'll see him around dinner time.

Gwaine: Are you sure you don't want to head to the beach with us? Arthur, answering for Merlin: Look at how pale he is, he'll burn right up. Not to mention the sun hurts his "sensitive" eyes. Lancelot: *sweats*

Uther: Arthur, why did you remove the crosses and other protections on your apartment? Arthur: Oh, religion makes my roommate uncomfortable.

No because let’s talk about the sexual tension between Merlin and Arthur when Arthur forces Merlin to eat the rat soup… I mean, it’s just rat soup. Arthur had no right to make it gay. But he did. That was so gay. Let’s thank the rat, a sacrifice had to be made for Arthur and Merlin to eye fuck each other.

by the way, this is something i've not seen mentioned before but i notice every time.

is he wearing butt pads? or something? forgive me for staring, but i've never thought this looked natural lmaoo. when he's over arthur's shoulder earlier in the ep, you get a pretty good view and its definitely less... pointy. i just can't figure out why they would make him wear something there?
