I finished it!!!

I’m actually so happy with the end result! I think the colors turned out nice and I was pleasantly surprised with the liners I used not smudging! (The black one bled a little, but you can’t even tell!) For my first attempt after a long time of not doing traditional art, I’m super proud of myself and I can’t wait to do it again! Maybe I’ll try a full body next! 💜

One things for certain, I definitely want to save up for new markers because a lot of them were dry and the color for Meredydd’s hair was on its last leg LOL 😂

Greetings!

You can call me Jae! I’m a 20 year old Christian artist who loves Hogwarts Legacy!I got the game on my switch back in September and I absolutely adored it! I’ve been lurking around the community since then, until finally deciding to make a Tumblr blog so I could interact with everyone for real! This is a side blog so I will follow from my main: @bailey-jae-art (You can find out more about me, and the other fandoms I am in, on there!)

My main MC is named Meredydd Morrow, and she is the face of my this blog. Though, I have lots of other HL ocs too, who I will also be sharing here. I used the template made by @kiwiplaetzchen to give some basic information about her character below. In time, and through more art (possibly writing too), I want to share more of her story. I will say that I do ship her with Sebastian 👀

I can’t wait to share my art, writing, and thoughts with the fandom! I know there has been some drama surrounding this community lately, which is what inspired me to finally sum up the courage to make this blog! I hope this can be a safe space for me to talk about my original characters and help other people feel comfortable sharing theirs too.

I got a new sketchbook to practice drawing traditionally! I’ve been so used to digital art where it’s so easy to adjust everything that I feel like it’s actually making my anatomy more stiff?? I don’t know if that makes sense but I feel like I actually don’t know how to draw anatomy, I just know how to adjust it so it looks right? So I want to try drawing traditionally every day and see if it helps. I started with a headshot of Meredydd because that’s what I’m comfortable with, but I’m chickening out about coloring it because I love how the sketch looks 😭 Plus, I don’t know how my art supplies are going to react to this new paper and I’m afraid of ruining it. Traditional art is scary-

I think digital art really helped me improve my art skills to where I’m happy with my style, so I’m very pleased about that. Now it’s time to go back to the basics.

Any tips for traditional art would be very helpful, doesn’t matter what medium, (markers, pens, paint, etc.) I’m going to try it all. This sketchbook is for trying new things even if I’m scared to do it! 😂 🫣

Revelio!

Here’s a funny little comic I did awhile back about how Revelio is so different in Hogwarts Mystery versus Hogwarts Legacy! I found it really amusing that Hogwarts Mystery made learning Revelio seem like it was this really complicated spell for the students to learn while Meredydd mastered it first try and still can’t find what she’s looking for! 😂

I tried something different with my lineart this time and even though it was fun using thicker lines, I really do prefer my thin line style. Also comics are really hard. I need to find a better way to do speech bubbles because I feel like they look a little wonky. Other than that I really like how it turned out, even if I did draw this a few months ago. Anyways I hope you guys find this as amusing as I do! 💜

A Favorite Pastime

I’m so nervous to post this here as it is my first full illustration on this blog, but here is Meredydd and Sebastian, drawn by me!

I imagine that one of their favorite things to do together is to sit and talk, while eating food and pouring over books, whether it’s studying for schoolwork, or something relating their interests. Meredydd is Muggle born, and didn’t learn about her magical abilities until she was older of course, so she has loads of catching up to do. She often feels like she’s one step behind everyone else, no matter how hard she tries. It’s not her fault of course, but Meredydd doesn’t like feeling clueless as it often leads to her embarrassment. Sebastian offers to help her out a bit by teaching her everything she needs to know about the wizarding world outside of school. It helps her feel more comfortable as she makes her way through the strange world she has found herself in. Plus, she enjoys Sebastian’s company, and what better way to spend time with someone than by doing something you both love? 💜

I’m pretty proud of this one! I hope I did Sebastian justice as it was my first time drawing him! Ignore the fact that I had to cover up his legs with the picnic basket, I couldn’t get them to look right lol

I do adore Meredydd in this drawing, I think she looks so sweet, and her hands are some of the best I’ve drawn in a while if I do say so myself! Initially there was going to be speech bubbles, which is why there’s some space at the top, but I couldn’t think of what they might be talking about. If you guys want to make up a conversation for them, I might reblog a version with speech based on your suggestions 👀

Anyways I hope you all like this! I get a bit nervous posting here as Tumblr is still new for me, but thank you all for being so sweet and patient with me. I’m about to be going on a very long couple of flights on an airplane to an entirely different country in a few days, so I’m in need of art inspiration! I want to draw Meredydd with some other MCs, so I’m recruiting yours! ✨

I did the lines! It took up my entire afternoon yesterday because I spent entirely too much time being a coward and worrying about ruining the sketch. Which is a habit I’m trying to break! Making mistakes is part of art 🥰

I think they turned out nice (though, I used the wrong color for her scarf so I’m trying to decide if I fix it or just leave it as it is) and now the coloring begins 😬

Why is coming up with a ship name so unnecessarily difficult 😭

I’m trying to think of one for Meredydd x Sebastian and hmmm.. They’re kind of hard to pronounce.

Sebredydd and Sebmorrow are my favorites so far. I also came up with:

Merebastian (I hate this one LOL), SallowMorrow, & Sebadydd, but I don’t like them as much as the first two.

I could go with something else that’s not their names mashed together, but I can’t think of anything at the moment.

What do you guys think? What are your ship names and how did you come up with them?

Okay I’ve been wanting to answer the questions for this Otp list I found on Pinterest with Meredydd and Sebastian for a long time, so I’m going to do it now! But to make it interesting, I’m going to draw my answers! (Just little sketches, nothing too fancy) 😂 I think it would be a fun way to draw the two of them together without pressuring myself to make it perfect, which is a problem I’m facing lately-

I have been struggling to find the motivation to draw, but here’s something I did a week or two ago when I was bored! It’s a close up of Meredydd’s scarred eye! Just a sketch, but I do think it’s pretty 🩵

I’m deep in that kind of art block where I really want to draw, but I either have no ideas or too many ideas, so I end up not drawing at all because I spend too much energy trying to decide what to do 😂

I really need some inspiration, but in the meantime, I hope you enjoy this!

I was looking through my HL screenshots and I found this one of Meredydd where she looks so haunted… I don’t know whether to feel bad for her or to find it funny because the picture took me by surprise and the lighting is eerie. Hey everyone! I’m finally somewhat settled! All of the plane rides went well, though I did feel a little air sick on the last flight (luckily I slept through most of that one!)

Now I officially am living in Europe! I’ve lived in America my whole life until now so it’s definitely a culture shock, but it’s so beautiful here and I’m learning so much already! Posts with art might be a bit slow from me because I’m spending a lot of time with family, but I do want to make it a priority to come on here and comment and interact with you guys because I felt bad that I missed so much while traveling!

For those who let me draw their MCs with Meredydd while I was on the plane, I decided I’m going to fully color them so keep an eye out for that! Originally I was just going to keep it simple, but I loved how they turned out so much that I wanted to color them! I’ll try to post them soon, but like I said, I might be slow with art posts for a while. My ask box is open though so feel free to ask questions or send prompts if you’d like!
