Sylvain Rarepair Week 2024, Sylvain/Mercedes/Dedue

Day 4: Sincerity & Duplicity.

Sylvain thinks himself quite the master of disguising and brushing aside his feelings. But Mercedes and Dedue are equally as bad, despite being better people than him. It takes someone who hides behind a mask to know another--in this case two others.

Also all being injured or exhausted helps them to open up, whether they want to or not.

Started a drawing for the three houses anniversary!

(Also Mercie and Sylvain with their relics showing the fascinating way they mirror each other with their stories and families, so not necessarily mercivain or sylcedes, but also it is one of my fave 3h pairings so...)

I still haven't figured out where exactly to place everyone yet, and I have no idea where to put Felix, but I told myself I would start an illustration on the anniversary

Does her best to correct any rumors about Sylvain, and always reassures him when he gets upset about his reputation

always knows when something is bothering him, even when he tries to hide it

manages to make him feel better without him even revealing what’s bothering him

laughs at his jokes even when she didn’t get the joke

when asked by others if she’s concerned he’ll cheat on her, she just smiles and says ‘nope!’

bakes his favorite desserts for him

makes sure he’s taken care of when he’s unwell

makes sure he doesn’t overwork himself

makes sure he keeps in touch with his friends

sometimes just sits and cuddles with him

Sylvain:

never outright says ‘I love you’ since he’s said it so many times in the past when he didn’t really mean it (basically it’s lost meaning to him)

instead shows his affection through actions

when she’s feeling the least bit unwell or even sad, he never leaves her side

always tries to make her laugh (because he loves seeing her smile)

tells her everything, and feels like she’s the only one who truly knows him

never pressures her to do anything

invites her friends over to come visit them as a surprise

when they’re ever apart, he sends her long letters

when asked by others if she has a crest, he responds with ‘doesn’t matter’
