When people talk about Health, they are generally talking about Physical Health. Health is not just about the physical body. What is generally forgotten, is your body does not function without the brain/mind. But what is not realised is, the mind and body are not mutually exclusive, they work in unison. If the mental side is compromised, the body suffers. If the body is compromised, the mind suffers. We have what is known as Overall Wellbeing. This means that one part suffers, who whole suffers and in order to regain that balance/overall wellbeing, that one part needs to be worked on. When you are hurt physically, you go and see a professional to help sort it out, this might be your gp, a&e. If you are hurt/suffering internally/the mind, you should also seek a professional, this could be a counsellor, psychotherapist or psychologist. If you do not neglect one, you should not neglect the other. Sapien Labs is a scientific nonprofit org that is aimed at evolving the way mental health and wellbeing is measured, discussed, and ultimately treated. They have developed a comprehensive assessment tool based on a scientific study and coding of over 100 different mental health assessments, and addressed a number of challenges that currently exist in the field such as the inconsistency of mental health assessment tools and the negative bias of mental health tools, disregarding mental abilities and assets that contribute to wellbeing to provide a comprehensive and standardized measure of mental wellbeing.
