i don't want to put my uninformed foot in my mouth or get involved with the Discourse but i've been seeing the two extremes of reactions to the korean low birth rates issue (on tumblr and twitter both) and i'm just kind of like. look. i feel like "low birth rates (in many countries but especially japan and korea as part of this conversation) are more broadly the result of capitalism/a culture of overwhelming overwork that makes social relationships and having families incredibly inaccessible to young people" and "low birth rates are very much a part of the current conversation about misogyny and social expectations for women in korea especially in the context of reproduction as 'unpaid labor' for women" are statements that can both be true
#laughs awkwardly#gender#especially considering the ways patriarchal expectations and capitalism very much intersect in terms of quality of life for women#ex. women being expected to have kids / raise kids / do all the housework and cooking in a relationship#while ALSO existing in a society where women (even married women) have to work demanding jobs to deal with the high cost of living#AND women are systemically discriminated against in terms of pay / job availability / work environment and harassment#all of these things add up. these conversations are not opposing points of view. you know?#and also like. not super comfortable with how TERFs are discussed in terms of non-white cultures#TERFism / radfems as a MOVEMENT (and a cult) is very much rooted in white supremacy / ideals of womanhood#again. multiple things can be true at the same time. yes i do see (from my perspective involved in taiwanese social media)#some east asian feminists engage in transphobia in ways that approach radfem rhetoric ('women are victims of men' 'men are predators'#type generalized sentiments which you can imagine gains a lot of traction among women traumatized by patriarchy)#but movement-wise i don't think it's fair (or just in good faith) to generalize radical feminists from non-white countries#to straight up TERFs. which again. rooted in white supremacy. keep feeling like i have to remind people it doesn't make sense#for asians to be white supremacists and that not all oppression on earth stems directly from white people. you weirdos#'what are you talking about' in east asia the type of feminist statements called 'radical' are stuff like.#women shouldn't have to wear make up every time they go outside. women shouldn't be expected to do all housework.#should men pay for women on dates. debates that i think in the states we kind of take for granted as stuff settled years ago#even if some feminists might be transphobic it's not necessarily Transphobia As Core Tenets Of The Movement. does anyone get the difference#basically what i'm saying is. wow these tags got long. maybe let's not apply uniform standards of 'correct language and values'#to non-white people and attack them when as all movements they are fluid and influenced by the people living in it#TERF-style transphobia is not the predestined course for them. maybe it's more productive to have open discussions about transphobia#to work towards inclusivity and solidarity in these movements than to prescribe White Internet Morality to them#and declare that they're evil when they are still very much having conversations that need to be had. thanks i think that's all#essentially. i find that 'how dare a non-american movement not have morally pristine vocabulary priorities and membership#as determined by white leftists' to be in itself kinda a racist attitude

bro so many people on here are under the impression that strikes are a burgeoning communist revolution it’s killing me
#Comments going like ‘concessions will ultimately be rolled back we need to keep the momentum up for total liberation’#yea duh but if you’re under the impression that’s the goal of most union organization you will be disappointed#They are looking for concessions. They are looking to better protect workers here and now within the system that currently exists#Union membership and activism is Generally left leaning but it encompasses a pretty broad spectrum of political alignment#The percentage of union activists who are anti-capitalist is going to be pretty small. It’s not the revolution. I’m sorry#Which also don’t take this as ‘unionization isnt so great actually :/‘ its my firm belief that#action that still seeks to improve conditions for people existing now (even if not inherently anticapitalist) and revolutionary action#that seeks to overturn current systems and create a better world are things that can and should happen simultaneously

Just going to vague about it because I don't actually follow any of these people and this is tangential to the post itself, but I saw an anonymous ask to the tune of "Why do you care about atrocities going on in the world if you're an atheist (unlike me, a principled believer)? Everyone dies; why does it matter how or when if you're not concerned about the afterlife?" and like...
It's really hard to deny the death cult allegations when you're out here straight-up admitting that within your moral framework, the only thing that matters is death, and the only thing that gives death any meaning is adherence to your religion. Death + Cult = Death Cult.
#i'm assuming this person would claim christianity as their religion because it's probably the biggest loudest english-speaking religion#that can tend towards death cult#especially at this time of year#i'm also assuming american because the boldest flavours of death-cult christianity seem to come from there#but really this is something that needs to be guarded against in any social structure that focuses on an afterlife#and regardless of whether you believe in the divine provenance of a religion#it is - in its earthly form - fundamentally a social structure#and like. a belief in an afterlife is a very powerful thing when your present life on earth is hard and painful (as everyone's is sometimes#it can help you keep going! it can be the foundation of hope when there's no hope to be found anywhere in the world around you!#but *that* should be its purpose#and even then it's a very dangerous way to live for both you and the people around you when life on earth is just a means to an end#and death is that end#that's why you have to add on all these other rules like:#'NO SHORTCUTS!' (because otherwise why *wouldn't* you just kill yourself and everyone you love? why not kill babies at birth?)#'oh but you have to live a GOOD life if you want a GOOD end' (because you've deprived life of meaning; gotta add that back in somehow)#'you have to say the right words / do the right actions' (gotta check that goodness against our rubric; how else can we KNOW???)#and the 'no shortcuts' leads to 'but what if it's not my fault' leads to 'okay look. permitted exceptions include...'#leads inevitably to people trying to game the system by making themselves martyrs because people are people and we work like that#like i'm sorry but if - as a religion - you're big on the promise of an afterlife#(makes sense! the world sucks a lot in a lot of ways! imagine if you could live in a world that didn't!)#then you really have to guard against the death cult that WILL be forming within your membership even if that's not what you're going for#and you have to keep watching out forever because the minute you let up#whoops! death cult!#fun and spicy religious thoughts brought to you in part by easter and the catholic church

you need to ask yourself more frequently: are you conflating “hotness” “desirability” “beauty” etc with consumerism?
#how much money are you pouring into regular manicures and eyelash extensions and your purebarre membership and drugstore makeup?#do you feel more desirable when you are wearing/consuming certain brands/lifestyles?#does taking part in this societal aspect of beauty benefit you or the person selling it to you more?#how does buying into this consumerism perpetuate a system of beauty-as-currency?#i am not perfect obviously but i am saying that i and everyone else should think about it#pp#gh

I mean, in all fairness a lot (far from all! but quite a lot) of US soldiers are impoverished people essentially press-ganged into a dehumanizing abuse engine with the threat of destitution and thus other forms of state violence, because it's drilled into them that they have no financial or education prospects otherwise. I don't think that sort of coercive manufactured consent is anything remotely like signing up to be a cop.
obviously, there are a lot of military members for whom that isn't the case, especially with a lot of "proud" historically military families being functionally identical to police families (right down to the fact that they're fast tracked for officer positions and other stations of relative authority, and thus aren't getting the brunt of the systematic abuse) and those people absolutely should be treated like cops or worse. but it bears keeping in mind that an awful lot of soldiers, especially in the rank-and-file of the army and navy, aren't there because they think it's right or have some sort of pride associated with it, they're there because they've been socially conditioned to fear poverty for themselves and their families more than they fear being used as a disposable piece of meat.
I guess what I'm saying is there's a difference in how you should view someone who's just using a VA card to help cover their meds vs. someone in a "the few and the proud" shirt. a lot of these people are absolutely cops and thus bastards, but the recruitment process is very different and much more predatory so blanket statements like that don't really apply, at least here in the US.
'oppose the military, support the troops' was one of the most insidious propaganda victories of the bush era and it blows my fucking mind that I still see people arguing the position to this day. if you can comprehend acab you should be able to wrap your stupid mind around this one.
#to clarify military membership is always cause for suspicion and caution#but it can't be used reliably as a concrete judge of character the way police membership can#because everyone who's a cop wanted to be a cop. and a lot of soldiers just want to slightly improve their chances of not dying in a gutter#and a lot of them lack the resources or education to seek other ways of achieving that#a lot of takes I've seen blaming miserable impoverished soldiers for their position are also blatantly classist too.#this system is designed to prevent other options from being available to them

IOS users and Patreon. Big old heads up.
"Apple is requiring that Patreon use their in-app purchasing system and remove all other billing systems from the Patreon iOS app by November 2024. This means that starting in November, new memberships purchased in the iOS app will be subject to Apple's 30% App Store fee.
First, we want to be clear about one thing: this will not impact your existing memberships at all. Apple's App Store fee only applies to new memberships purchased in the iOS app beginning in November 2024."
Apple users, if you make your pledges through your browser you can dodge this fee.
This is just apple doing its usual nickel and diming to take a slice of every pie.

Level Up Your Football Betting with the Asian Power Digital Membership Area
I've always been a keen follower of football, but my forays into betting were more about blind loyalty than strategic planning. That all changed when I discovered the Asian Power (Football) Betting System Digital Membership Area.
Data-Driven Insights for Informed Decisions
Before Asian Power, my betting decisions were a crapshoot. Now, I leverage the system's in-depth analysis of upcoming matches. Their team of analysts goes beyond the surface level, providing insights into team form, player fitness, historical data, and even external factors that could influence the game's outcome. This data-driven approach allows me to make informed decisions based on a much broader picture, not just gut instinct.
Unlocking the Secrets of Asian Handicaps
One of the biggest hurdles I faced with football betting was understanding Asian handicaps. The Asian Power system has been a revelation. They offer clear explanations of this betting style, along with practical strategies for utilising it effectively. This has opened up a whole new world of possibilities, allowing me to place more nuanced bets that go beyond the simple win-lose format.
Expert Tips and a Community of Winners
The real magic lies in the exclusive tips and predictions available within the membership area. I receive regular updates with recommended bets based on the system's statistical models and expert analysis. These suggestions are invaluable starting points for my own research, and they've definitely improved my win rate. There's also a thriving online community where members share their experiences, insights, and success stories. It's a fantastic space to learn from others and feel part of a community with a shared passion for football betting.
An Investment that Pays Off
While there's no guaranteed formula for success in football betting, the Asian Power system has certainly given me a significant edge. The membership fee is a small price to pay for the wealth of knowledge, expert insights, and supportive community I've gained. It's an investment that's already paid off handsomely, allowing me to enjoy the beautiful game on a whole new level.
More Than Just Winning Bets
The benefits extend far beyond just winning more bets. I find myself delving deeper into the sport, analysing team dynamics, and appreciating the intricacies of the game with a newfound passion. The Asian Power system has transformed football betting from a gamble into a strategic pursuit, making it a more rewarding and enjoyable experience overall.

Mental Time Travel System Digital - membership area
The Mental Time Travel System
It’s based on my five decades of experience in hypnosis and metaphysics, and on fairly recent concepts, such as Brief Therapy and Narrative Psychology. This goes beyond everything I’ve ever done before – beyond The Fourth Dimension, Ho’oponopono, and even beyond my famous Awakening Course. My investigating has been for the secrets of the Universe. After half a lifetime of “experimental investigating”, I’ve found the process, insights, and methods that work ALL the time. This new package gives you the tools to attract anything – including “The Big 3.”

Asian Power (football) betting system Digital - membership area
Credibility: Research the creator of the system and their track record. Look for reviews from reputable sources or testimonials from users who have actually tried the system.
Transparency: A trustworthy system should be transparent about its methodology and not promise guaranteed results. Be wary of systems that make bold claims without providing sufficient evidence or explanation of how they work.
Risk Management: Consider how the system addresses risk management. No betting strategy can guarantee wins, so it's crucial to understand how the system handles losses and mitigates risks.
Cost vs. Value: Evaluate the cost of the membership or book relative to the potential value it provides. Consider whether the information offered justifies the price and if there are any hidden costs or recurring fees.
Reviews and Feedback: Look for reviews and feedback from other users who have tried the system. Keep in mind that some reviews may be biased or manipulated, so it's essential to consider a variety of opinions.
Legal Considerations: Make sure that the system complies with all relevant laws and regulations regarding sports betting in your jurisdiction. Avoid systems that promote illegal or unethical practices.
Ultimately, remember that betting on sports carries inherent risks, and there is no foolproof system that can guarantee profits. It's essential to approach any betting strategy with a healthy dose of skepticism and to only wager money that you can afford to lose.
