Brave 17 Official Results
Brave Combat Federation hosted the 17th edition of the event which marked the first International Mixed Martial Arts event taking place in Pakistan. The fight card featured 10 fights featuring fighters representing 12 nations. The event was held at the Nistar Park Sports Complex in Lahore, Pakistan. The fight night featured intense rounds of action featuring heated rivalries, outbursts of emotions and athletes showcasing intense showmanship. The fight night started with two inspiring bouts that set the tone for the night.
The opening bout showcased a lightning fast stoppage victory by Mohammad Abbas Khan who finished Sikaner Badar within 14 seconds of the first round. This was followed by three rounds of action between the inspiring Najam Khan from Pakistan who overcame polio at a young age and pursued his dream to become a professional fighter. He faced Mohammad Wasim from Afghanistan in a fight that went three rounds. In the end, the bout ended with Najam Khan winning by technical submission. Haider Farman made his third appearance at Brave Combat Federation against Ariel Oliveros. In a bout that showcased solid stand up action, Farman finished the bout with a guillotine submission in the second round.
John Brewin from New Zealand faced Ahmed Amir from Egypt in a bout that showcased two of the rising stars of the division. Brewin was fighting his fourth professional fight while Amir was returning to the cage after his first loss in five years of professional career. The bout began with wrestling where Amir was mounting pressure on Brewin. But the tides turned as the New Zealander was back in control as he rained punches on Amir. Amir covered up as the bout was nearing the final seconds eating the punches and taking severe damage without defending which was called up by the referee as a TKO for lack of intelligent defence. An angry Amir stormed out of the cage challenging the decision. Brewin stood tall with his fourth straight win in his undefeated professional career.
Yibugele and Zia Mashwani celebrated a strike fest in the final bout of the undercard. The fighters put the audience on their feet as both took the game to the next level. However, in the third round, Yibugele landed an explosive right that left Mashwani on the floor in one of the best knockouts in the history of the promotion. The bout automatically wins the knockout of the night by a mile. Aidan James returned to score a shocking second victory over SBG Ireland as the 2015 IMMAF Gold Medalist, Frans Mlambo was left without an answer as the rear-naked choke gripped tight. In pure warrior fashion, Mlambo refused to tap and decided to be choked to sleep. After the bout, the two fighters expressed mutual respect and set an example of sportsmanship.
Mehmosh Raza claimed the fastest finish in the history of Brave Combat Federation with a submission within 27 seconds of the first round. This was followed by one of the most controversial bouts in the history of the promotion as the 2017 IMMAF Gold medalist from Dagestan, Gamzat Magomedov faced JP Buys from South Africa. JP Buys dominated his way through in the first round against Gamzat Magomedov with high precision strikes that rocked Gamzat. However, the second round witnessed one of the most aggressive sides of Gamzat as he used his wrestling skills to take down and pin the South African bantamweight against the cage.
Despite warnings from Marc Goddard, Magomedov landed intentional elbows to the back of his head which forced the referee to stop the fight. JP Buys was declared the winner since Gamzat Magomedov was disqualified. A disappointed Gamzat charged against JP Buys. However, Chad Hanekom was in time to defend JP Buys, pushing away Gamzat from inflicting further damage. The display of lack of sportsmen like conduct was put down immediately as Mohammed Shahid, President of Brave Combat Federation and the officials called upon the security to evict the group of fighters out of the cage. After evicting the fighter and team that caused disruption, JP Buys was declared the winner.
Jeremy Pacatiw and Uloomi Karim gave Pakistan a memorable co-main event which will be remembered for a long time. In a bout that went the distance, Pacatiw showcased an improved level of performance to dominate the first round inflicting a lot of damage upon his opponent. While it seemed that victory was in reach for Pacatiw, Karim bounced back in a pure display of heart grinding Pacatiw against the cage and busting open his nose with a series of elbows that connected. The third round started with Pacatiw and Karim greeting each other in a pure display of heart and warrior spirit. Both the fighters left gave a round to remember for the fight fans in Pakistan. After Pacatiw was declared as the winner, he thanked and appreciated his opponent, the coach of his opponent and Pakistan for the welcome and sharing the cage with him for a memorable fight.
The main event of the evening featured Rodrigo Cavalheiro from Brazil facing Abdoul Abdouraguimov from France. In a bout that went the distance, the explosive force from Cavalheiro was constantly negated by the expert Jiu-Jitsu from Abdoul. The bout went to the judges who declared Abdoul as the winner by unanimous decision. The winner will be the next in line to face Jarrah Al Selawe for the welterweight championship.
Brave Combat Federation will showcase the upcoming edition of the event on 16th November in the Kingdom of Bahrain during Brave International Combat Week 2018, which marks the largest combat sports festival in Asia. The fight night will feature three championship titles being defended including the lightweight, bantamweight and the inaugural featherweight championship.

Based in Bahrain, mixed martial arts promotion Brave Combat Federation made a historic debut in the Philippines as the local fans cheered on one of their own in reigning Brave CF Bantamweight Champion Stephen “The Sniper” Loman, 23, of the Philippines. He dominated his main event bout at “Brave 22: Storm of Warriors” against Elias “Smile” Boudegzdame, 25, of France and Algeria eventually landing a finishing blow to walk away with the technical knockout.
However, Loman’s was not the only finish on the stellar fight card of “Brave 22: Storm of Warriors,” which took place at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines on March 15, 2019. Out of the nine bouts, six ended in finishes, an encouraging 66.6 percent rate of finishes to kick off 2019.
Aside from the champ’s KO, another Filipino finished his fight with his fists. Rolando Dy needed less than a round to knock out Pakistan’s Mehmosh Raza, who’s the owner of Brave’s fastest submission. Speaking of which, there were four tap-outs during the fight card.
The most exquisite one was a kneebar, locked in by Harold Banario, who made his Brave debut one to remember, with a decisive victory over Ariel Oliveros. Another rare move was used by Abdul Hussein. In his Flyweight preliminary bout against John Cris Corton, the Finnish standout locked in a ninja choke to make his opponent quit.
Brave Bantamweight contender Jeremy Pacatiw dominated his countryman Marc Alcoba throughout the first two rounds before attacking with an armbar to add yet another finish on his Brave resume.

Brave Combat Federation will start off 2019 with a bang. The promotion will land for the first time in the Philippines for Brave 22: Storm of Warriors, this Friday, at the iconic Mall of Asia Arena. In the main event, local hero and Bantamweight champion Stephen Loman goes for his third straight title defense against former Featherweight titleholder Elias Boudegzdame. The co-headliner will witness a collision of Lightweight prospects as SBG Ireland’s Cian Cowley looks for win number three against New Zealand’s John Brewin.
But there is much more than that on tap for the fans. The Filipino contingent at Brave will finally be at the forefront of the promotion, as well as possible history-making moments in line for the show. Below, we list five reasons why Brave 22: Storm of Warriors is a must-watch for fight fans around the world.
#5. History in the making
No matter who takes home the win in the main event, history will be made at Brave 22. Bantamweight champion Stephen Loman looks to extend his legacy as the promotion’s most dominant champion with an unprecedented third title defense. In his way is a man who can also make history. If victorious on Friday night, Elias Boudegzdame will become the first and only fighter to have been a Brave world champion in two separate weight classes.
The fight itself is intriguing in many aspects. The challenger, nicknamed “Smile”, is a submission machine and loves to play guard and attack triangle chokes. His opponent, “The Sniper”, is one of the best wrestlers in the division, and has heavy and quick hands. Who will prevail in this clash of styles?
#4. Lightweight division on notice
While Brave CF has announced a Lightweight title fight for Brave 23 (as champion Abdul-Kareem Al-Selwady defends his crown against Luan Santiago), the whole division will tune in to watch Cian Cowley x John Brewin.
Two of the sport’s most coveted prospects, Cowley and Brewin will face off with a title shot in mind for the immediate future. They are both technical strikers, with the Irishman coming from a muay thai background, while the Kiwi fighter has fast and heavy hands and relies on his boxing.
Even though they’re still climbing up the Lightweight ladder, the winner of this fight will be a lot closer to an eventual shot at the title.
#3. Young journeyman’s homecoming
Jeremy Pacatiw might be only 22 years old, but the Filipino fighter has traveled extensively for Brave Combat Federation. The Bantamweight, who takes on Marc Alcoba in the main card, has represented the Philippines in countries as diverse as Brazil, Morocco, and Pakistan.
Pacatiw will finally make his home debut for Brave and will take on a fellow Filipino in Alcoba. Pacatiw has been gearing up for a run at the top of the Bantamweight mountain, currently resided solely by his teammate Stephen Loman. If he beats Alcoba, it will be the third straight win for “The Juggernaut” and he will instantly be near the top of the heat. Could a teammate x teammate title bout be on the horizon?
#2. Pakistan x Philippines
In one of Brave 22’s most anticipated fights, Pakistan’s Mehmosh Raza returns against tough veteran Rolando Dy. Raza, of course, is the owner of an interesting Brave record: fastest submission, recorded on his promotional debut back at Brave 17.
Dy has fought all over the world and is happy to be back home for Brave 22, but he will have to rely on his pressure stand-up game as well as his defensive wrestling to make sure the crowd erupts in his favor at the end of the fight.
#1. Filipino invasion
Whenever Brave organizes an event in a country, the idea is always to mix international fighters with local talent. This has been proven once again, as Brave 22 will feature 11 Filipino warriors facing off against Indian, Bahraini, Finnish, Pakistani, and French fighters.
Brave 22 provides a truly global platform for the best talent in the country to rise and be seen by a worldwide audience. It will finally be time for the Filipino roster at Brave to be seen as protagonists instead of a mere supporting act. It is an opportunity that these warriors are sure to embrace.
5 reasons to watch Brave CF’s Philippine debut ‘Brave 22: Storm of Warriors’ Brave Combat Federation will start off 2019 with a bang. The promotion will land for the first time in the Philippines for Brave 22: Storm of Warriors, this Friday, at the iconic Mall of Asia Arena. 686 more words

The nine pairs of mixed martial artists on the “Brave 22: Storm of Warriors” card had their face-offs during the public weigh-ins at the Newport Mall in Resorts World Manila in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines on March 14, 2019. Three of the 18 fighters missed weight.
Marking Brave Combat Federation’s first ever Philippine event, “Brave 22: Storm of Warriors” will take place at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City on March 15, 2019. Before the fight night, the fighters confirmed their weights and stared their opponents down one last time before they face off inside the cage.
The night was full of tense staredowns as co-main event fighters Cian Cowley and John Brewin stole the show, facing off with their expressions locked in while refusing to look away. Finally, the duo was separated by Brave president Mohammed Shahid. In the post-staredown interview, Cowley was succinct, claiming he was going to put on a “masterclass” against Brewin.
The Kiwi fighter, who represents Bali MMA, was a little more vocal and was thankful for the opportunity of fighting in the Philippines, a place he had grown to love a few years back when he cornered a teammate in the country.
“I appreciate the opportunity of fighting in a co-main event in the Philippines. I’ve said it before, that this is truly a dream come true. But in the end, I’ll fight anywhere, anytime. I can fight every day of the week and it doesn’t need to be a co-main event”, said “Trouble”.
In the main event, Bantamweight champion Stephen Loman made weight at 134,5 lbs (61 kg) and saw his opponent, Elias Boudegzdame, clock in at 135 lbs (61,2 kg). “The Sniper” Loman thanked the fans inside the World Resorts Manila for their support and promised a great show on Friday night.
“You can expect a good show tomorrow night. I’ve trained hard, Elias has trained hard. We’re ready. I’m very thankful for all the support from my people”, said the champ.
In the show’s second bout, Bahrain’s own Hussain Ayyad and Jason Vergara didn’t seem to see eye to eye and the duo nearly came to blows during their staredown, as Ayyad shoved Vergara before they were separated by Mohammed Shahid.
In the official weigh-ins, earlier today, three fighters missed their contracted weights, with Jeremy Pacatiw, John Cris Corton and Harold Banario came in heavy. However, their fights against Marc Alcoba, Abdul Hussein and Ariel Oliveros will go on as scheduled, and they will be fined for their misstep.

Two days before Brave Combat Federation officially debuts in the Philippines, a few of the main card fighters for Brave 22: Storm of Warriors lit up the passionate crowd inside the Newport Mall, located at the luxurious World Resort Manila, one of Brave’s entertainment partners for the groundbreaking show. The athletes, including Bantamweight champion Stephen Loman and challenger Elias Boudegzdame, did an open workout, showcasing some of their skills and a little of what can be expected of them on fight night, set for the iconic Mall of Asia Arena, on March 15th.
As expected, the Filipino fighters received the greatest applause. Loman was one of the most celebrated fighters by the fans, as well as Jeremy Pacatiw, who takes on countryman Marc Alcoba. The foreigners, represented by Ireland’s Cian Cowley, New Zealand’s John Brewin and Pakistan’s Mehmosh Raza, were also in attendance and were well received by the crowd. When their workout was done, the promotion organized the first staredowns of fight week.
After the open workouts, the athletes sat down with Brave CF commentator Kirik Jenness at the helm, to answer fan and media questions. Title challenger Elias Boudegzdame was the only one missing from the fighters who did the early open workouts. Philippines’ own Rolando Dy lit up the crowd when talking about the pride he feels in representing his own country at Brave.
“I’ll be honest, I was always an average student, I got my college degree because I had to. I was an average basketball player and an awful dancer. Fighting is what I really know, it’s what I love. Being able to be here and representing my country, back to Brave, it’s amazing”, said Dy, who takes on dangerous Mehmosh Raza in a Featherweight bout in the main card.
John Brewin, who co-headlines the card against Cian Cowley, was one of the fighters to get emotional after talking about what it meant to fight in Manila and promised to put on a show for the Filipino fans.
“I’m living the dream, two years ago I was here in Manila, cornering one of my good friends and teammate at Bali MMA. I thought “One day I’ll get back here for my own fight”, I never thought it’d be so fast, though. I went from all kinds of temporary jobs to co-headlining a card in Manila. I know a lot of people say that their stories are all about struggle and overcoming but that’s nothing but the truth in my case. I live for fighting, I’m here to put on a show and I’ll fight until my last breath”, promised Brewin.
