Love has to spring spontaneously from within; it is in no way amenable to any form of inner or outer force. Love and coercion can never go together; but while love cannot be forced upon anyone, it can be awakened through love itself.
Love is essentially self-communicative; those who do not have it catch it from those who have it. Those who receive love from others cannot be its recipients without giving a response that, in itself, is the nature of love.
True love is unconquerable and irresistible. It goes on gathering power and spreading itself until eventually it transforms everyone it touches.
Humanity will attain a new mode of being and life through the free and unhampered interplay of pure love from heart to heart.
🌿 Meher Baba, Eventually it transforms everyone

The Who, "Baba O'Riley (Original Demo)"
I am not the biggest Who fan in the world or, possibly, even on my block. I've grown to intensely dislike their "rock operas" and lean, on the occasion when I do listen to them, heavily toward their early spiky singles and the Mod madness of The Who Sell Out. Who's Next was inescapable in the '70s, and while I enjoyed it then, I have happily not listened to it in its entirety since college.
So when the 11-disc Super Deluxe edition of Who's Next : Life House (the latter half referring to the broken project whose remnants comprise the former half) was released in September, I may not have been its target audience.
That said, this instrumental demo for one of the Classic Rock pillars this album spawned is quite intriguing, both because it doesn't have Roger Daltrey on it, never my favorite singer, and because one can hear all the little moving parts that Pete Townshend crafted into this song, besotted, as well he should have been, by the music of Terry Riley into creating a careening Sufi whirl.

Whose Nexus?: A Life (House) with "Who's Next"
In 1971, an unrealized sci-fi film concept, the teachings of Sufi Master Meher Baba, an acetate of new tunes, and an inspired jam session with Leslie West, all informed what became the Who’s Next album. 52 years ago today, what is now considered a milestone album in the history of rock music, Who’s Next was released. With a massive Super Deluxe Edition of early 70s Who music looming I had cause…

Exploring the Divine Love and Wisdom of Meher Baba
Today, I want to take a moment to dive into the life and teachings of the remarkable spiritual master, Meher Baba. 🌟
Meher Baba, also known as the "Silent Master," graced this Earth from 1894 to 1969, leaving behind a profound legacy that continues to inspire and transform lives. He hailed from India and devoted his life to spreading the message of love, unity, and spiritual awakening.
One of the striking aspects of Meher Baba's teachings is his emphasis on the power of love. He propagated the notion that love is not merely an emotion but the very essence of our existence. Through unconditional love and compassion, he believed that we can transcend barriers, dissolve egoic limitations, and experience true oneness with the Divine.
Meher Baba's spiritual journey was marked by a unique phase called the "New Life." During this period, he embraced a life of complete detachment and silence, communicating solely through an alphabet board or through gestures. This silence was not just physical but held profound symbolic meaning, representing the eternal silence of the Divine, beyond words and concepts.
His teachings encompassed diverse aspects, including spirituality, meditation, selfless service, and the importance of inner transformation. He emphasized the necessity of realizing one's own divinity and the potential for spiritual evolution inherent within each individual.
Meher Baba's teachings also touched upon the concept of the Avatar—an incarnation of God in human form. He declared himself as the Avatar of the age, a spiritual guide sent by the Divine to awaken humanity and bring about spiritual evolution. His presence on Earth was seen as a divine gift, a beacon of hope and love in a world often consumed by chaos and confusion.
As we explore the teachings and life of Meher Baba, let us open our hearts and minds to the profound wisdom he shared. Let us seek to integrate love, compassion, and selflessness into our own lives, spreading these virtues to create a more harmonious and interconnected world.
Join me on this journey of discovery as we delve deeper into the extraordinary legacy of Meher Baba. Let's explore his timeless teachings, share personal insights, and reflect on the transformative power of love and spirituality. Together, we can walk the path of love and find solace in the embrace of the Divine.
Stay tuned for more posts, quotes, and stories that will inspire and illuminate our spiritual journeys. Remember, the path to spiritual awakening is paved with love, and with Meher Baba as our guiding light, we embark on an adventure of the heart and soul.
Love and blessings to you all! ❤️✨

On the note of Jack being EUPHORIA-inducing and associated to drugs ("Dude, how high are you?" / "I like cocaine!") and dream-walking...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
...this theme shows up again when Jack says "I like The Who!"
Tumblr media
One of The Who's most famous albums is Tommy:
Tumblr media
[About] Tommy Walker and his path to becoming a spiritual leader and messianic figure. The concept of Tommy was modeled after Meher Baba, an Indian teacher who focused on Godly avatars appearing in human form. British Army Captain Walker goes missing during an expedition and is believed dead ("Overture"). His wife, Mrs. Walker, gives birth to their son, Tommy. She remarries. Later, The Captain returns and kills the lover in front of Tommy, and all involved gaslight Tommy that he saw nothing.
It's certainly not one-to-one, but there is a parallel with Lucifer. Our heroes thought he was vanquished at the hands of Rowena's spell, but Lucifer is alive. Lucifer returns "home" to find Kelly shacked up with Cas, and he kills Cas.
Tumblr media
But the analogy fragments, of course, ricocheting back to the trauma of Mary Winchester, who lost both her parents and lover in the same awful night, putting her in a place where she was too young and handcuffed to fight back properly against a manipulative deal:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Deanna, who dies with her eyes open, like Kelly dies with her eyes open
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Samuel, who dies by stabbing himself in the stomach, as Crowley does
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Cas also dies of a stab wound, a bit tangential to Samuel, but the WAY he falls and is splayed bears more resemblance to the fallen lover, John
///
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And in this moment, THIS time... Mary is ready. She steps forward, the warrior-widow, ready to fight.
Tumblr media
And though she can't prevent the losses that have already occurred, she CAN protect her children and protect the new life (Jack). When she steps forward to face it, she's redeemed, protecting her remaining family with renewed strength, experience, and familial support.
As for Jack, his beloved heroes (Sam, Dean, Mary) are there to prevent his story from becoming like that of Tommy and Captain Walker.
///
And when Cas comes back...
It's a positive inversion of the fallen soldier-lover, the John, the Castiel. This too is an inverted Captain Walker, not the jealous Lucifer, but the loving father figure returning home (13x06 via @spnscripthunt-inactive)
Tumblr media
//
Tumblr media
This homecoming has a newer, fresher meaning: the healing that can occur when the good father walks through the door.
People start to smile again.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jack becomes the reverse-Azazel, too, giving a lover back with no strings attached. And Cas becomes the positive, loving version of a father arriving (unlike Lucifer).
And Jack hugs Cas, as Jo hugged her dad, "breathing in the smell of his jacket [coat]."
Jack is the joy-bringer, an inversion of Azazel's theme of despair.
///
Tumblr media
I think another nod to The Who appears when Jack gets his soul back in The Occultum, the snake chanting Who Are You, which could be a reference to one of their bleaker albums,  “Who Are You," which trades in critical self-analysis, cultural analysis, self-reflection and self-disgust.
All in all, though, what I'm trying to say is that I think they were intentionally keeping in mind bands like The Who and messiah-rock operas. :-)
Jack is also nearly inextricably tied to Mary's loss of her parents and her lover.
And to Jo and John:
To Jo's loss of her father (initials W.A.H. engraved on her blade).
To John's loss of his father (initials H.W. imprinted on his journal).
