This is going to sound so stupid but I only today realised that a significant number of people like....look down on retail & service industry work.

#Nothing like happened i'm just listening to Debt by David Graeber & thinking about things #Remembering when my coworkers wife was working in a cafe while she finished her masters #And I was like - ah I like that cafe! Does she like the work?#& he scathingly said #'well. its cafe work'#I feel stupid! This should be obvious!! I know people treat service industry workers like shit!#I guess my mammy - who raised me on her wages from 5 jobs at a time including everything from #Cross border peace development work to cleaning bedrooms in a b&b -#Simply did too good a job teaching me that any job worth doing is worth doing well. Has inherent dignity. Etc.#Also I have many friends who prefer being baristas to like. High paid lab work #Also i'm from a rural area where farm work is considered the Real Work& everything else is just filling in the gaps #And I grew up surrounded by teachers & civil servants & nurses who would pull a few shifts at a bar or hotel to make ends meet #So. I never really computed that some of this work is considered lesser.#tthat the people who do it are consdjered lesser by some.#And not just by outrageous snobs. By like. Average ppl with jobs that they can sit down in #This is blowing my mind I need a minute #Me Fein

I've been trying to get rid of the 4 remaining ATLAS+AXIS posters since I did the A+A zine back in 2019 but shipping tubes is such an expensive pain in the ass. When I mailed them out with the preorders for those I actually folded the posters up and it felt awful lol Idk how tf else to mail these without charging like $14+ domestic shipping though. I HATE TUBES

an absolute wave of homesickness for Doctor Who (2005) series 1-2 just about knocks me over at the quietest moments of my little life

#it was such a specific time. I was just a kiddo #still living with my parents with a giant bedroom downstairs all to myself #it used to be a hair studio or something for whoever lived there before us. and I had this massive room with a table to draw and write at #and a tiny twin bed and I used to set up a projector against the opposite wall and hook it up to my laptop and watch DW to fall asleep #enthralled. couldn't believe the show I'd found. couldn't believe how much I loved Rose and loved the Doctor #you could not drag me away from it. I could not stop talking about it or thinking about it. Matt Smith had just become the Doctor and I-#-had so much content left to consume. and everything was simple. I didn't have a job at the time and every day was creativity #I used to write so much I'd forget to eat. and Doctor Who was the background music of my life back then #I miss winter nights swearing I'd only watch one more episode before I went to bed. all by myself. my family hadn't discovered the show yet #in that small single bed with four blankets and Doctor Who on the wall. drooling over timepetals and pausing and rewinding constantly #that time of my life was so safe and so secure and my imagination was so hungry and DW was feeding it and it was my first time seeing it #I miss that. speaking of housing only one of my housemates at the new place has moved in so far and I get it cuz term doesn't start til monday but I'm kind of getting impatient for the rest of them to just show up bc I want to know what kind of Vibes it's gonna be in this house
