you didn't ask him to help you. he's a thief and a murderer and you don't owe each other nothing. you don't even know what kinda music a white boy like him listens to but it's not yours. he has a black eye but you don't feel bad at all. just mad.

the music you played is still echoing, reverberating in your trembling body, and every time you move your fingers, you can hear your guitar whispering, urging you on, from every direction, as if from a distance. it's a familiar voice: sometimes comforting, sometimes scary as hell - often the only thing you have left in a silence so empty that it claws away at you like an animal. it's not trustworthy but you trust it anyway. you have to.

you drink whiskey out of someone's abandoned old cup, something not meant for it. the way he looks at you, you can tell you're both drunk somehow, even though all he swallows is coke. maybe he's drunk on the sounds he heard, on the adrenaline of having been beaten up, on the devil that's bursting to explode out of you, out of every pore, every finger, every note in the music leaking out through even your sweat.

you can't look. you know that face is going to be full of want. for money, for that girl, for your music, for god knows what.

it's an unstoppable nightmare. your body is out of control and so is everyone else. you flex the ten fingers on your one hand, the five on the other, and sigh into your drink. there's no words left in you. you lick your cracked lips and your eyes roam over-- not him-- the stains, the rats, the crumbling walls and boarded up windows. you don't know where this is, only that you were born to be here and everywhere like this. this place is you.

you're both riddled with bite holes and stalked by hell hounds. is now really the time for this? but you can't persuade your body to start running worth a damn. your hand tightens on the cup and forces itself to your disenchanted mouth, hot whiskey sliding down your throat.

he calls your name and you don't want to, but finally, you look at him, at his frown. his pretty face bruised like a fruit is a map, pinned with photos, scrawled all over, saying, "look. i did this for you."

a simple declaration, waiting.

your hand, all ten fingers of it, finds itself on your forehead as you groan. already, you're starting to forget, you're starting to become soft and pliable. in that dark distance, where music comes from, a bestial sound emanates, rising and falling as laughter does.

well...... who do we know who has a fascination with cinema & projections....

(also fun fact the first publicly shown synchronised sound films were exhibited at the 1900 paris exposition)

i don't believe Russell for a second, that they just 'ran out of actors' 😂 i am convinced that this mystery woman played by Susan Twist is some sort of embodiment of Story, the way Maestro is the embodiment of Music. the way she keeps playing supporting parts, the reference to Margaret Lockwood in The Wicked Lady... there's a few theories percolating right now, but i think she's a large part of the reason why the fourth wall keeps being broken. it's strange, how intrusive her presence is...it seems that with each episode, her importance to the plot grows stronger. she's gone from small speaking roles which don't impact the story, to directly interacting with the Doctor and Ruby, to being capable of killing characters in the central plot... is it possible that Susan Twist's character is attempting to take over the narrative and become the main character of Doctor Who herself? 👀

Sodapop and Ponyboy don’t necessarily like watching sports on TV, but they like watching Darry watch sports. Darry is that guy. We all know one. He’s hollering at the TV and standing an inch from the screen and despite his life being an absolute dumpster fire, he’s acting like this game is single-handedly the most important thing in the world and it will make or break his whole week. “Are you shittin’ me?! Why would he put Johnson in? He’s the weakest player!!! Foul! That’s a foul! C’mon ref, the fuck are you doing? Call it!” God forbid anyone try to talk to him or interrupt him during a particularly intense play. He will be pissed. Once Dally pulled the plug to the TV during a critical point in the playoffs and Darry practically beat the shit out of him. He likes watching football and baseball best. Ponyboy of course likes watching track, but he also really likes soccer and basketball, though he likes watching in person much more than watching on TV. Soda, bless him, could care less about any of it, but when his brothers are playing in a sporting event? He’s the loudest cheerleader of them all.

I’ll redo the Ancients at some point I did them late on a college night while half-asleep 😭😭 ALSOOOO in this rewrite White Lily and Dark Enchantress are the SAME PERSON. I’m not doing that 2 separate people type-of-thing, she fell in that vat of Evil Dough™️ and came back devilish-looking in my eyes.
