i love that peter falk in particular constantly inserted himself into other people's shit. i always think of this letterboxd review:

of course, actors often do have to stand closer to each other than is natural to fit in a shot. but while columbo being blocked like 6 inches away from people's faces at all times is used to comic effect, it makes the show look so fruity it becomes part of a complete breakfast.

This movie got me like: "Damn, this is stupid." "Damn, this is the babiest McGoohan ever." "I'm gonna get rid of the other guy with a flyswatter!" "How long is that nurse going to be here?" "This is not gonna end well for the lion." "What the hell is going on here? Where is baby McGoohan again? Get his ass down that tree already!"

It really reminds me of the time I asked my best friend why she was watching something very stupid on TV and she looked me dead in the eye and said sometimes she watched stupid things just to see how stupid they were. Only one of us went on to have a PhD and that's certainly not me.

Patrick McGoohan - (Danger Man, The Prisoner) - the prisoner, which mcgoohan created, produced, and starred in, is arguably THE cult classic of 60s television. its themes are still startlingly relevant today and its distinctive amalgam of surrealism, social commentary and deadpan weirdness has influenced countless works since. he also starred in one of my favorite columbo episodes and directed several more.

Robert Vaughn - (The Man from U.N.C.L.E, The Protectors, Hustle (season 1)) - Although Robert Vaughn always is handsome, he's one of those men whose attractiveness really lives off his facial expressions and also imperfections. You have to see him in action doing subtly silly faces and with his kinda puppy dog eyes and naturally pouty lips. Personally I never know whether I want to hug and comfort him or have him shamelessly flirt with me. And that's hot!
