Alex Rider: Hates horse riding with a passion. Hates it more than supermarket cola. Would rather listen to Damian Cray's music on repeat than ride a horse.

Alex Rider: Loves his bike. His bike is his best friend, he loves it more than Tom. His custom-built bike costs more than most mortgages, and even MI6 knows he loves his bike so much they sent him a new one out.

Matthew Freeman: Rode around on a bike for one (1) night, got sore and exhausted, later dumps said bike in the woods for the satanist to find. Never rides a bike again, perfers his horse.

Did you pick up on the fact, even when they all came together, he was keeping them all at arms length because he knew they couldn't stay together. He was so happy to finally have them by his side, but he said even if they never see each other again, them coming together now was all that mattered. This is a young adult who has had nobody at all in his life, no parents, no friends. It's likely the only adult he is close to is the Librarian, who scares his future self.

I just thought about how lonely past Matt would have been. I think he mentions that he was alone for the most part ten thousand years ago and didn’t have no Richard or a best friend as he wandered around looking for the rest of the Five and getting captured by Chaos, so like maybe past Matt was lowkey a bit jealous of future Matt cus he wasn’t alone facing forces of the Old Ones, future Matt had Richard with him in his journey supporting him.
