There are Astonishing Heroes of the Faith! (And YOU Might Be One of Them!)
Here’s a word I bet you haven’t used lately. What makes something astonishing? Have you been astonished lately? Or have you been astonishing? As we have walked through the Bible book by book, we can pause to remember that the Gospels contain some astonishing stories, like these from Matthew and Luke:“Then they brought him a demon-possessed man who was blind and mute, and Jesus healed him, so that…

How to Build a Christ-Centered Church With (or Without) a Building
Looking to build a Christ-centered church that goes beyond Sunday? Learn how to focus on authentic faith and reclaim the mission of the church. #ChristCentered #FaithInAction #ChurchCommunity #Ekklesia
What is a Christ-Centered Church? If you grew up going to church, you’ve heard the familiar rhyme: “Here’s the church, here’s the steeple, open the doors, and see all the people.” While it’s a nostalgic image, it misrepresents what a Christ-centered church truly is. The church isn’t the building or the steeple—it’s the people who gathered as followers of Christ. In Matthew’s Gospel account,…

Revelation 21: How Firm a Foundation
There are several clues in John’s vision of a voluminous golden city descending through the sky that lead the reader to believe it symbolizes spiritual truths. #Revelation21 #NewJerusalem #TwelveFoundations #PearlyGates
There are several clues in John’s vision of a voluminous golden city descending through the sky that lead the reader to believe it symbolizes spiritual truths. In comparison to Babylon—portrayed as a woman of excesses—the bride motif of new Jerusalem symbolizes the far superior role as Christ’s beloved, than as the world’s. The purity and luminosity of the precious materials in the city’s…

Matthew 6:34. “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
2 Corinthians 12:9. “My Grace is sufficient for you.”
“There is no need to worry” (Matthew 6) By Darlene:
“Sometimes, it can be really hard not to worry about the future, especially in these uncertain times, but in Matthew 6:34 Jesus says to us “Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.” Why does Jesus say this? Because He gives us His Grace (his help, his strength, his wisdom) just at the time we need it, not before.
When we spend our time worrying about the future, it is like we are experiencing a future negative event over and over, when God hasn’t given us His Grace to go through it yet.
We may even be worrying about something that doesn’t even happen. So all that worry, stress and emotional pain has been for nothing. I’m sure many of you have heard the acronym for FEAR:
F FALSE
E EVIDENCE
A APPEARING
R REAL
God is faithful. He will always give us the Grace we need for any situation at just the right time, not before. Trust God today. Rest in His Grace today. His Grace will be there for you tomorrow.”

The Science and Theology of Prayer: The Lord’s Prayer
Scripture: Psalms 119:12–56, Matthew 6:5–9 How do we start our prayers? Do we need to acknowledge Who we are addressing? Do we come with gratitude, reverence, and awe, or do we barge with demands? “And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Honestly, they have received their reward in full.…

"PASS THE PLATE PLEASE!"
2 Kings 7:9, “Then they said to each other, “What we’re doing is not right. This is a day of good news AND WE ARE KEEPING IT TO OURSELVES…” (NIV) So, Thanksgiving is almost here and it immediately makes me think about sitting at the family table. You see, somewhere in the ‘Fathers Handbook’, I’m convinced it says that the father automatically gets to carve the turkey, or the ham, or the roast.…

Look In the Mirror. If You See a Judge, It's Time for a New Look
Jesus must have been pretty familiar with Obadiah, since many of his statements about being judgmental resonate pretty strongly with this short prophetic word. (In fact, Jesus seemed pretty familiar with ALL of the Old Testament, but that’s a whole ‘nother blog!) One of the things Obadiah said could be paraphrased like this: Take a hard look in the Mirror: if you see a judge looking back at you,…
