Horror Tease: Grimmwood poster
The Slash Gang Productions crew is back with an urban legend feature from the team of Matt Kiser and Blair Hoyle. GRIMMWOOD follows a journalist and his sister seeking the truth behind a town that’s cursed from a witch execution some time ago. As of now production will start in November and the first poster has been released. Look for more updates in the near future and check out the poster ahead.

I know you probably meant that as a rhetorical question, but I figured I’d give a starting point. This isn’t everything, this isn’t comprehensive, and it doesn’t contain as much nuance as some of these issues deserve.
The fact that when Trump was elected, Matt Kiser (journalist formerly with Business Insider, Forbes, SPIN, and others) needed to create https://whatthefuckjusthappenedtoday.com/, a curated daily feed of national news, should tell you a lot. It should tell you even more that one Tennessee school system’s banning of the graphic novel Maus didn’t even rate as a big enough news story to appear in WTFJHT when it happened.
Some cultural highlights that might help:
Most of us agree that the country’s headed in the wrong direction, but the system’s rigged in such a way that lasting positive change isn’t all that plausible. It’s possible, sure, but unless a whole lot of change happens real fast and with the infrastructure changes needed to maintain it, it’s not plausible.
Much of the country follow sects of Christianity that predict the end of the world and the second coming to the point that many of their leaders want to see the things that they believe will bring about the apocalypse. After all, it means that they and those like them will be saved by their messiah while the sinners and non-believers will be punished.
There’s been so much mythos and propaganda surrounding the “American Dream” and “Nuclear Family” that most people take it all as a matter of factual history rather than advertising.
We have such wide definitions of “protected speech” and “charitable organizations” that literal white supremacist organizations use their service in natural disaster recovery as a recruiting tool.
We have a culture that idolizes heroes (people who do single, grand acts of good) but refuses to support systems that make heroes less necessary. For a non-violent example, we (the general “we”) lauded someone who got a homeless man with a nice voice a job doing voiceover work, which led to him getting back on his feet. But, ask people to support shelters, recovery and job placement programs, and similar things, and they’ll answer with a hearty “no.”
There is a cultural assumption of the “us” and the “other”, and an idea that representation, rights, effort, etc, is all “pie”. If the “other” gets more, “we” get less. It’s why you see so many white cishet Christian Americans get upset if, heavens forbid, there’s an ad for Cheerios that features a mixed-race family or an ad for Tide that features lesbians.
A lot of us who’ve been fighting for change for years are tired and spread thin. More of us have so many convictions that we can’t decide where it would be best to spend our time, money, and effort.
So, to answer your question: There’s too much going on to explain well, I haven’t even covered half of it here, and some days (like today for me), it’s really hard to see there being a substantial positive change in our lifetime. And, hell, this is just what I can speak to from a white queer pagan perspective, so there’s a lot of big stuff I haven’t even touched on.

Pokémon cards joining sports cards as hot commodity
Tumblr media
Sports trading cards aren’t the only memorabilia skyrocketing in value. Heritage Auctions has put a Pokémon card collection, valued at an estimated $3 million, on the auction block July 24-25.  This is potentially the largest sale of a non-sports card lot in US history. Bart Kiser, had a love affair with Pokémon which was almost as big as the love he had for his children, earning him the nickname “Rad Dad.” So much so, that he gifted his massive collection to his children on Christmas morning 1999. Some 20 years later that collection will be up for grabs, expected to attract spirited bidding.
Kiser passed in 2018 but the colorful cards depicting “pocket monsters” will remind his now adult children again of his Pokémon passion and generosity.
His son Matt Kiser and Joe Maddalena, Executive VP at Heritage Auctions, are available to the media on mutually convenient times and dates to discuss the Bart Kiser Collection.
Highlights from the Rad Dad Collection offered at auction includes sealed box sets such as a Pokémon Japanese Base Set Sealed Booster Box (Media Factory, 1996) released only in Japan (est. $40,000). These boxes were released in Japan on Oct. 20, 1996, which was a little over two years before the English version. English versions of these boxes came with 36 card packs but Japanese versions came with 60 packs.
A Pokémon Unlimited Edition Base Set Booster Box (Wizards of the Coast) remains sealed since 1999, the year the set was released (est. $20,000). It includes 36 booster packs, each with 11 cards, for a total of 396 cards. The cards have never been touched and they are all likely gem mint condition. Bart Kiser obtained a rare Pokémon First Edition Jungle Set Sealed Booster Box (Wizards of the Coast, 1999) (est. $15,000). This was the second set of the mega-popular Pokémon Trading Card Game, released on June 16, 1999. The set included a total of 64 cards and it was the first set to include copies of the holographic cards in non-holographic form.

Pebble Beach - U.S. Open 2019
Tumblr media
Also die U.S.
Open in Pebble Beach 1982U.S. Open Tom Watson 1992U.S. Open Tom Kite 2000U.S. Open Tiger Woods 2010U.S. Open Graeme McDowell Zum Schluss gibt es hier noch die Startzeiten der ersten Runde der U.S. Open 2019 mit den Ortszeiten. The Grapplers Main Event: The debut of BJJ transition AJ Agazarm
Tumblr media
With the debut of Jake Hager (better known perhaps by his WWE performance name Jack Swagger) has a highly anticipated debut in MMA tonight at Bellator 214 against J.W. Kiser. As well as this there is also a lot of focus on the development of MMA prodigy Aaron Pico in his match against legitimate threat Henry Corrales, who has actually fought former Bellator Featherweight Champion Daniel Straus as well as current Bellator Featherweight Champion Patricio Freire. The main event sees the final of the Bellator Heavyweight Grand Prix to determine who the new champion is between Fedor Emelianenko trying to claim another title for his hefty legacy and Ryan Bader, looking to be the Champ Champ of Bellator. However, on the prelims of this card, there is a big fight that is hidden from the main card, that bout focuses on the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu star AJ Agazarm fighting in his professional MMA debut against
AJ Agazarm has competed twice in amateur MMA, winning both in the first round, one via submission and one via (T)KO, however, this bout tonight takes place in a world where he is now more accomplished in his grappling credentials. What makes AJ Agazarm’s MMA focus interesting is that unlike a lot of people representing their sport, the majority of BJJ enthusiasts want to see AJ lose, the reason for this is because of his outspoken personality. Never one to shy away from the microphone or the camera, he has always spoken his mind even if it has meant being kicked off a stage by Vagner Rocha or slapped by Jake Shields. Due to his polarising stance in the grappling world, it is difficult exactly to tell if the majority of grapplers are wanting him to win or lose.
AJ Agazarm has had a successful run in his previous runs in sport, winning the prestigious IBJJF World No-Gi Championship in 2014 and Silver in 2017, IBJJF Pan American No-Gi Championship in 2013, IBJJF  Brazilian National No-Gi Championship in 2013 as well as the being IBJJF European No-Gi Champion on three separate occasions. He also found regular success in the belts prior to his black belt accomplishment, one of his biggest successes was earning a Silver medal at the ADCC Championship 2017, the most prestigious Submission Grappling competition in the world, having had successful competitors focus on MMA later such as Davi Ramos, Gilbert Burns, Fabricio Werdum, Rani Yahya, Jacare Souza, Tito Ortiz, Mark Kerr, Matt Hughes, Uriah Faber, Chris Weidman, Georges St. Pierre, Jake Shields, Demian Maia, Roger Gracie and many more great grapplers have competed at this competition.
AJ Agazarm has found himself opposite many MMA stars in grappling competitions, in losing efforts to Gilbert Burns, Davi Ramos (both have victories over each other) and former WEC and UFC Champion Benson Henderson, having a victory over MMA veteran Phil Baroni as well as a Draw and ongoing rivalry with MMA legend Jake Shields. Agazarm has also fought BJJ crossovers Garry Tonon and Dillon Danis in losing efforts to both men, Agazarm even almost had a high profile grappling match against the multiple time NCAA Champion, Olympian and MMA giant that is Ben Askren at Polaris but the match never materialised.
What makes the transition of AJ Agazarm so interesting is because people often wonder how a BJJ fighter will perform when they cannot get their opponent to the mat, what makes AJ so interesting is that he is actually a former Division I wrestler for Ohio State, and although he never placed as an All-American, that is still a considerable feat to attach onto the success that he had in BJJ, meaning that not only does AJ Agazarm have the ability to dominate opponents on the mat, he also has the ability to get his opponents there, all that matters now is how he performs at Bellator 214 against Jesse Roberts (3-1 in amateur MMA). Only time can tell if he has a successful transition from the world of grappling, regardless if grappling fans are watching to see if he wins or loses, they will be watching.
