Today’s Album Review: Material Issue’s International Pop Overthrow

Overall Album Grade: (5/10)

For a pop overthrow this sure as hell sounds like generic pop rock. And yeah that’s all it is, every one of these bargain CDs are all the same, generic genre or something stand out. But on a high note the instrumentals presented here are actually pretty damn good, at least for the bargain box. The guitar work isn’t bad, just pop rock, the drum work is on beat, and the bass could be removed and completely forgotten, but it’s not terrible just generic. That being said a lot of the points taken away from this album are for it’s lack of diversity it’s completely uninteresting aside from one or two tracks such as “Out Right Now” and “Crazy:” which honestly weren’t bad and if more songs had been like them this could’ve been a much better album, also tanking away for the vocals and they just sound absolutely tired, whiny, and annoying all at the same god damned time with the only sufferable moments being those mentioned before and anywhere else it may not be the worst I’ve ver heard but it sure as hell isn’t good, so overall the album isn’t absolutely the worst thing to listen to, with some decent instrumentals and even a couple of decent tracks, it’s listenable but just barely, like background noise to drown out literally anything else, but that’s all it could ever be good as, it’s definitely nothing you should go hunting for, and nothing I’d ever recommend you’d pick up except maybe for something like 50 cents, but that’s about it. But if pop rock, or power pop is your kind of thing, you could do worse, but this just ain’t for me. On another note the album artwork isn’t bad, but it gives me the wrong impression, it looks more punk or pop punk, and god damn would I have preferred that, even the generic shit.
