Während wir darauf warteten, daß die Wolken vorüberziehen, befassten wir uns passenderweise einmal mehr damit, wie dramatisch das in Wahrheit wohl relativ unaufgeregte Leben des beliebten Komponisten alberner kleiner Liedchen Jerome Kern hätte verlaufen können, wenn es von Hollywood-Drehbuchschreibern geschrieben worden wäre. Es zeigt Judy Garland wieder in ihrem üblichen Tätigkeitsfeld, und enthält, für ein MGM-Großmusical ungewöhlich, gleich drei Leute, die ich später noch live erleben durfte. So albern Jeromes kleine Liedchen sind, werden sie natürlich für alle Zeiten gesungen. Und der alte Fluß fließt dahin und dahin.
