BBC AMERICA’S NEW THRILLER, THIRTEEN, PREMIERES THURSDAY, JUNE 23
Following last night’s season premiere of Orphan Black, BBC AMERICA announces its new original five-part thriller, Thirteen, will make its debut Thursday, June 23rd at 10/9c, the week following Orphan Black’s season finale. Created by acclaimed newcomer Marnie Dickens (Hollyoaks) and starring breakout actress Jodie Comer (Doctor Foster), the series is directed by China Moo-Young (Call the Midwife) and Vanessa Caswill (My Mad Fat Diary), with Elizabeth Kilgarriff (Luther) executive producing. Thirteen is an emotional rollercoaster that explores how to pick up the threads of a life half-lived, while questioning who to trust when you can’t even trust yourself.
"Thirteen is an inventive and highly entertaining series that, just like Orphan Black, pulls you in from the get go to a young woman's adrenaline-fueled, deeply emotional story," said Sarah Barnett, President and General Manager of BBC AMERICA. "Given our fans’ exceptional passion for our award-winning original content, we’re pleased to give BBC AMERICA viewers another gripping series backed by strong female talent both in front of and behind the camera."

An interview with Marnie Dickens, the writer for the show, Wilderness.
Q: I suppose a lot of that is down to Jenna Coleman’s performance. How did you feel when you secured her for the role of Liv? A: Jen is amazing. I’ve watched her in lots of things, but I think it was The Cry where I was like, ‘Wow, she’s definitely one of the country’s best actresses.’  But she’s not just naturally fantastic; she’s extremely well prepared, too. Every single scene, she’s broken it down, she’s got her notebook, and she takes it exceptionally seriously. So when she said yes, she read all of the six scripts, and we got on a call with her – she was just asking the right questions. She’s extremely respectful [and] so collaborative. And then you get this extra bonus that she has amazing chemistry with Oliver [Jackson-Cohen, who plays Will], which is just so lucky. There’s a natural humour and warmth to them, I think.

New interview with the director and writer of Wilderness!
"We had all six scripts written, which was really important because it's so twisty-turny, so it felt important to have the architecture quite early on, before we approached cast. "And Liz [executive producer Elizabeth Kilgarriff] had worked with her before on The Cry, and so it just felt like a really natural place to go to. So we did. "And then we had separate conversations, I had a conversation with her. She's so thoughtful and intelligent about her craft and the character."
"And then we had a wonderful Zoom talking about the character and what we were looking to do. And she was spot on as far as her interpretation of her journey, Liv’s journey. "Then we started to work together and she was so incredible. I don't think I knew exactly the range of her talent until we started shooting, because we block shot six episodes together, so there were days when we cover four to five episodes within a day of shooting. "And she would be so spot on with each scene, and she gave so much care and of herself into it. It was just masterful, there's no other word for her work. And, of course, there's Oliver [Jackson-Cohen, co-star] to balance her out. Watching them work together on and off set was a real treat for me."
Jenna can't give inteviews at the moment because of the strike, so we might instead get more interviews like this.
I completely agree with what they say, Jenna Coleman is magnificent in Wilderness!
