December 10, 1991.
Norm Macdonald appeared on the Tonight Show starring Johnny Carson. The episode featured Barry Manilow, Mark Shields of the MacNeil Lehrer News Hour, and guest host Jay Leno.
Jay Leno: Welcome back. Well, this is very exciting. My next guest is a very funny comedian, and this is his very first appearance on the Tonight Show. He’s a regular at the Improvisation right here in Hollywood. Please welcome – Norm Macdonald!
Norm did a bit about Mr. World competing against Mr. Universe.
Norm Macdonald: I don’t know about you guys, but I’m putting my money on Mr. World on this one, y’know? I figure he’s a shoe-in with his home-planet advantage and everything.
His set was greeted with rolling laughter and boisterous applause. As the trumpets of Doc Severinsen’s orchestra blared, Norm made his way over to the panel and sat down beside the host.
Jay Leno: So what are you doing for Christmas? Any plans? Norm Macdonald: No, I’m staying at home with my weiner dog. I’m trying to buy stuff for him. You ever shop for a dog? Jay Leno: No, can’t say I have… Norm Macdonald: Ah, man, it’s hard … you don’t know what to get him. I want to get him something he wouldn’t get for himself ordinarily. I figure as long as I stay away from strewn garbage I’m all right.
As the segment ended, Leno noted Norm’s unusual cadence.
Jay Leno: You’re from where? Canada? Norm Macdonald: Canada, yeah. Jay Leno: Canada. That would explain the accent! All right, Norm Macdonald, very funny stuff, be right back after this. Macdonald moved one seat down to make room for the next guest, Mark Shields, political commentator for the MacNeil Lehrer News Hour. As soon as he sat down, Shields slapped Norm on his knee. Mark Shields: Home planet advantage! One of the great lines I’ve ever heard! Wonderful!

PBS: Video: NewsHour: Shields and Brooks: Ukraine, Arizona Religious Discrimination Bill & Tax Reform
Kire Schneider on Google+ The New Democrat on Facebook The New Democrat on Twitter The good news about Ukraine is that its dictator is out of power and will probably be arrested by the new administration and held accountable for his regime. But this is a big country of around 50 million people, with a good deal of land, natural resources, and ethnic diversity, which is still in economic and…

Its really interesting that Jimmy’s chair is the one tilted away from the screen in this shot:
Tumblr media
It’s indicative of how his and Jimmy’s dynamic was. He’s not staring ahead at the screen, he’s not paying attention to what they are doing. Curly is the only one looking forward. Jimmy quite literally couldn’t see the responsibility Curly had or was doing. Jimmy likely slacked off and avoided most of his duties. I mean the one time we know he pilots the Tulpar he steers it wrong and loses the team 4000 credits. Even in the positions they held objectively, Curly was always taking responsibility for Jimmy. Not to mention the “We can fix this” and only one chair at attention. Jimmy never had intentions to fix anything, throughout the game, throughout his entire relationship with Curly. Curly always fixed it? Why would it be any different here?
If he even took the slightest bit of responsibility, he would’ve stayed in the cockpit to see his plan through. In the end Curly did what Jimmy always expected him to do for him and took responsibility. Did what he always did and took responsibility at the wrong time…

Remember this scene from 10x22 || The Prisoner?

How Dean throws Cas at a table/desk during his mark of Cain influenced rage because he provoked him?
Yeah. I can guarantee that is not how Cas pictured Dean bending him over a table/desk.

@willosword made Pokemon teams for Mark, Amber, and Nolan and frankly lost my mind over Salamence and Mark CAUSE IT EVOLVED OUT OF WISHING IT COULD FLY? LIKE MARK PROBABLY DID EVERY TIME HE SAW HIS DAD TAKE OFF, WISHING HE HAD POWERS? Makes me sick in the best way possible, you know they shared that almost palpable yearning for the sky. And Salamence having anger issues??? IDEAL IDEAL IDEAL.
Anyways, now they fly in the morning together before school or hero stuff.

PBS: Video: NewsHour: Shields and Brooks: Cold War Echos and Campaign Financing
Kire Schneider on Google+ The New Democrat on Facebook The New Democrat on Twitter I actually agree with Mark Shields on this.  Republicans, especially in the Senate, love to criticize President Obama when it comes to Ukraine.  They blame him for everything from Ukraine to earthquakes thousands of miles away in Asia and perhaps every other problem that has arisen during his presidency. Depending…

because at the end of it the entire theme of prime defenders season 2 is home.
it’s finding home in a place you once feared; getting closure with your origin and learning that home is the people around you and not always a set location. sometimes home can be more than one place.
it’s fighting tooth and nail against all odds to bring home what— who— matters most.
it’s opening up about where you came from and accepting that home wasn’t always an easy concept for you, but you’re ready to try again to find it. and you’re starting to think you already have.
it’s returning to the place which you once called home despite its bittersweet, mostly haunting memories. it’s staring the fear in the eye because behind that fear is the person who needs saving most.
and it’s taking your home— your friends— by the hands and plunging into that fear together.
