The Timekeepers Of Eternity (2021)
Director - Aristotelis Maragkos, Cinematography - Paul Maibaum
"We know what happens to today when it becomes yesterday. It waits for them. It waits for them, the timekeepers of eternity. Always following them behind, cleaning up the mess in the most efficient way possible: by eating it!"

OK, I finally watched it. I pulled up the Grammy Awards show on Paramount+ and fast forwarded to the 17 minute mark. That opening guitar riff transported me back to the late 1980’s when I was still deeply closeted and Tracy Chapman’s music, like that of the Indigo Girls and Bruce Cockburn during that era, captured the deep longing for freedom that I felt so intensely.
I held back the tears but then the camera cut to the audience and showed Taylor Swift standing up and singing along — and I lost it. That look on Luke Combs’ face as he was singing with her. Like he was a big kid and he could not believe he was performing with one of his heroes. And then the standing ovation and Trevor Noah saying “That’s right. That’s right. That’s right. That’s right. That’s right” over the applause.
The New York Times got it right:
What made Tracy Chapman’s performance feel different was the presence of the country star Luke Combs regarding Chapman with an awe-struck reverence. “He seemed to be a stand-in for the many, many people over the years — of all races, genders and generations — who have heard their deepest desires reflected in this song and wished to pay Chapman their gratitude,” our critic Lindsay Zoladz writes.

365 DC Comics Paper Cut-Out Villains - One Villain, Every Day, All Year…
October 11th - Doctor Arcane

Anton Arcane is a diabolical scientist, alchemist and necromancer who has been obsessed with gaining immortality.  His search for life-extending processes have led him to conduct all manner of horrific and inhuman experiments.  Arcane became aware of the magical creature known as The Swamp Thing and was convinced that the creature’s floral form would prove the key to achieving immortality.  He then used his niece, Abigal, to lure The Swamp Thing to his castle in a remote region of Europe.  Arcane was initially successful in taking on The Swamp Thing’s powers and, in turn, transforming the creature back into his original human form as Alex Holland.  Upon realizing Arcane’s diabolical schemes for how he would use his powers, however, Holland took action to reverse the process.  Holland was transformed back into The Swamp Thing and, rendered back into his frail, elderly form, Arcane fell to his death.  Arcane was later resurrected by his minion creatures, The Un-Men.  He would return for subsequent battles against Swamp Thing as well as the hero Animal Man.  Dr. Arcane featured in both the first and second Swamp Thing movies, portrayed by actor Louis Jourdan; actor Mark Lindsay Chapman portrayed the villain in the Swamp Thing television series. Dr. Arcane first appeared int he pages of Swamp Thing #2 (1973).
