Eddie squeezed his eyes shut and his elbows dug into his knees as he buried his face in his hands, a sick feeling threatening to choke him. He wasn’t sure how he had managed to drive all this way, everything was kind of a blur. But the sick feeling had been there since this morning, since last night actually, since Marisol had found out about Kim and Kim had found out about Marisol and both of them had rightly dumped him. If he was honest, the sick feeling had been there for a long time. Since he had tried to make it work with Ana, since Shannon had asked for the divorce. Maybe even his whole life. Definitely since he kissed Robbie Martinez in that rainbow dabbled sacristy with the Holy Spirit emblazoned in leaded glass above their heads. The wind picked up, blowing a breeze over the back of his exposed neck, tears burning at his eyes as he stared at the grave in front of him. There was a bouquet of wilted flowers resting at one corner, dry and brown and older than they should be, and the grass was a little crunchy but the shade cool. The great granite slab stared back at him, rising up like a monument of his mistakes. It was starting to become too easy to forget Shannon, too easy to feel the memories slipping through his fingers and it left Eddie clinging to the good ones, if for no other reason than to share them with Chris, letting the bad fall away like sand at the beach. He was so afraid that he would forget Shannon all the way, and instead Eddie was realizing that he had just rewritten those memories, hidden in a fantasy because Shannon was safe. Shannon was dead and safe and he could disguise himself as a grieving widower, hide his distaste for dating women under a guise of grief. “Do you think she can hear us when we talk to her?” . . . "I thought I could fix me."

MURDERED: Rivera/Martinez (Prime Time True Crime)

On June 24, 2019, 28-year-old Alyssa Marie Torres shot and killed her 54-year-old stepfather, Felix Rivera, and her 8-year-old daughter, Amarilyss Martinez, at their Port St. Lucie, Florida home. She had been staying at her parents house for several months. Alyssa used a handgun she’d taken from her stepfather’s closet and waited until a little after midnight to shoot him once in the head from the foot of his bed. The shot immediately woke her 53-year-old mother, Marisol Rivera, who suffered injuries to her head and face during a brutal pistol-whipping, but luckily, none were life threatening. Alyssa then ran down a hallway and shot Amarilyss in the head. After the murders, she fled the scene in her Toyota Rav 4. Alyssa was located in nearby Fort Pierce, about 8 miles from her parent's home, and arrested without incident, after a brief manhunt. She admitted to the killings and was charged with two counts of murder and one count of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. Alyssa Torres pled guilty to avoid the death penalty and was sentenced to three life terms without the possibility of parole on December 4, 2020. Mental health issues were cited as the cause for the murders.

The Pulse nightclub shooting, a tragic event in Orlando, Florida, occurred on June 12, 2016. It was one of the deadliest mass shootings in U.S. history, resulting in the loss of 49 lives and injuring 53 more. It was also the deadliest violent attack against the LGBTQ+ community in US history. The shooter, Omar Mateen, pledged allegiance to ISIS during the attack. The incident deeply shook the nation, sparking discussions about gun control, terrorism, and LGBTQ+ rights. Mercoledì 24 e giovedì 25 gennaio la compagnia venezuelana Afrodiartes porta in scena un adattamento di "Bodas de sangre", ovvero "Nozze di sangue", il celebre dramma in tre atti, scritto da Lorca nel 1933 e ispirato a un fatto di cronaca avvenuto nella sua Andalusia nel 1928.

La compagnia venezualena Afrodiartes si addentra nella trama originale rimanendone fedele ma offrendo una propria visione e cambiando il titolo in "Il Mal Querer", preso dall'omonimo album uscito nel 2018 della cantante spagnola Rosalia.

Su questa colonna sonora fatta di coinvolgenti intermezzi cantati e ballati, prendono vita i personaggi di Lorca tra conflitti familiari, affanni e inganni.

Sul palcoscenico di via Orcagna un cast di dodici attori diretti dal regista Andrès Moros.

La drammaturgia firmata da Jeizer Ruiz riprende un classico del teatro con l'intento di farlo conoscere alle nuove generazioni attraverso punti di vista legati al nostro presente e un impianto musicale in cui le tradizioni del flamenco incontrano il pop e il trap.

Il tema dell'amore impossibile, del tradimento, della vendetta e della fuga, e ancora la passione dirompente fino al sangue del titolo originale: gli elementi che caratterizzano l'universo tragico di Garcia Lorca restano gli stessi in "El Mal Querer" ma Jeirez Ruiz li racconta con un nuovo sguardo, trasformando la vicenda in una tragedia moderna e conferendo ad essa un colpo di scena finale.

"In Bodas de sangre – spiega la compagnia - la sposa fugge prima delle nozze con un altro uomo. Ma se invece non fosse questo il finale della storia?".

La compagnia Afrodiartes ha voluto fondere la poesia, la musica e le parole di Lorca filtrandole attraverso la lente dei nostri tempi e trasformando un classico del teatro in una nuova occasione di confronto, scoperta e rilettura per tutti.".
