So here’s a hero concept I’ve wanted to work on for a while - A 2-in-1 hero.
A lot of stats and bio under the cut.
Real Names: Marino Rodrìguez & Noah Fieldman
Alias: Grunt & Muscle
Role: Tank / Job: Versatile and Self-Sufficient Tanking and Damage Dealing Duo
Special: Grunt & Muscle have separate HP pools but either dying takes them both out of the fight. / Buffs applied to one will not be transferred to the other on Switch Out, but the same is also true of Debuffs. / Their cooldowns are separate (except for “Switch Out”) but they share Ultimate charge, so when one uses their ult, the other loses theirs. / Grunt is the Spawn Hero of the pair, but using Switch Out in an active spawn room does not start it’s Cooldown.
-
Grunt / Marino
-
Hit Points: 300 / Health: 275 / Armour: 25
Primary Weapon: Light Repeater Rifle
Ammo: 30 / Reload Speed: 1.4 Seconds / Rate of Fire: 6 Shots per Second
Damage: 15 - 30 / DPS: 90 - 180 / Falloff Range: 22 - 44M / Attack Type: Hitscan
Primary Fire, Repeater Fire: Fire bullets 1 at a time or in up-to-6 shot bursts with medium spread. After 1s of continuous fire, there is a 0.3s delay before fire can resume.
Ability 1, Switch Out: Change places with, and switch control over to Muscle. Grunt leaves the field, where he cannot be damaged or healed but his abilities continue to cooldown. / Cooldown: 16s
Ability 2, Evasive Maneuvers: Perform a dive roll in the direction you are moving, taking less damage as you do. / Distance: ~10M / Movement Speed: 12 Meters per second / Damage Reduction: -35% / Cooldown: 6s
Ability 3, Arced Grenade: Throw a grenade in an overhead arch, which detonates after a short delay. Can be held for up to 3s to reduce the delay before throwing, which also shows it’s travel path and an aiming reticule. The grenade bounces off of walls, and bounces on the floor once before settling. / Delay Before Detonation: 4.5s minus hold & travel times / Projectile Travel Speed: 21Mps / Explosion Damage: 85 / Explosion AoE: 5.5M / Cooldown: 8s from being thrown
Ultimate, Triage: Fully heal both Grunt & Muscle, and apply a minor Heal Boost effect to both for 8 seconds after, which persists after a Switch Out. Triage has a 2.25s cast time during which Grunt is heavily slowed and no healing occurs, if Grunt is Anti-Healed at the end of the cast time his healing is affected by it, but Muscle’s is not. / Slow Effect: -50% / Heal Boost: +20% / Required Charge: 2250
Passive, Hustle: Grunt moves from operation to operation with efficiency and speed, gaining a speed boost when Out Of Combat. Must have not taken or dealt damage for 1.75s to trigger Out Of Combat status (Damage caused by Arced Grenade does not affect this). While Hustle is active crouching does not incur a speed penalty. / Speed Boost: +80%
-
Muscle / Noah
-
Hit Points: 550 / Health: 300 / Armour: 125 / Shields: 125
Primary Weapon: Heavy Pulse Shotgun
Ammo: 4 / Reload Speed: 1.85 Seconds / Rate of Fire: 1.5 Shots per Second / Pellets per Shot: 16
Damage Per Pellet: 4 - 8 / Damage Per Shot: 64 - 128 / Falloff Range: 18 - 36M / Attack Type: Shotgun
Primary Fire, Pulse Rounds: Weighty, slow-firing shotgun blasts with medium-high spread, but which are still effective at decent range.
Ability 1, Switch Out: Change places with, and switch control over to Grunt. Muscle leaves the field, where he cannot be damaged or healed but his abilities continue to cooldown. / Cooldown: 16s
Ability 2, Shove Kick: Perform a solid kick directly in front of yourself to knock an enemy back. If a hit enemy connects with a wall, or falls more than 4M off a ledge following the kick, they are also stunned for 0.45s. Deals an additional 30% of max barrier health as damage to barriers, but causes no knockback to them. / Knockback Distance: ~9.5M / Damage: 35 / Cooldown: 7s
Ability 3, Explosive Shells: Load a quad of special shotgun shells which ignore all forms of damage reduction, including armour, and which deal double damage to barriers. Reloading, either after expending all ammo or before, ends the effect. Base damage, spread, rate of fire and reload speed all remain unchanged during use. / Cooldown: 12s from end of effect
Ultimate, Intimidation: Project a medium sized aura around Muscle which terrifies enemies within it, reducing their speed, increasing the damage they take, and preventing the activation of damage dealing abilities (Not including primary/secondary weapons fire). / Duration: 6s / AoE: 12M / Speed Reduction: -30% / Damage Taken Increase: +30% / Required Charge: 2250
Passive, Stonewall: During Combat, Muscle shows no fear and gives no quarter, taking less damage as long as he is doling it out. Must have dealt 10 or more damage in the last 1.75s to maintain In Combat status. / Damage Reduction: -20%
-
Grunt’s Ultimate Voiceline (Self & Enemies): I’m Healing Up!
Grunt’s Ultimate Voiceline (Allies): Cover Me!
Muscle’s Ultimate Voiceline (Self & Enemies): (Guttural Roar)
Muscle’s Ultimate Voiceline (Allies): Let’s Finish Them Off!
Hero Select Voiceline (Said by Grunt): Another Day, Another Job
-
Home / Base of Operations: N/A
Nationality (Grunt): Mexican-American / Nationality (Muscle): American
Sexuality (Both): Gay / Gender (Both): Cis Men / Pronouns (Both): He/Him
Grunt’s Age: 29 / Date of Birth: 30th of May
Muscle’s Age: 32 / Date of Birth: 23rd of July
Height (Grunt): 5ft 6in / Height (Muscle): 6ft 1in
Affiliation / Allegiance: The Highest Bidder
Backstory: Mercenaries through and through, Marino and Noah have done their time working for every shady para-military organisation, corrupt private army, and ludicrous security firm the average mobster can put a name to: Blackwatch, Talon, Helix, they’ve been there and done it all, from guarding suspect shipments to storming fortresses. They’ve worked the odd legit job, or at least, less illegitimate ones, like being bouncers and debt collectors for still less-than-savoury folk, but what can they say, they know the work they’re good at.
The world keeps changing but the work stays the same, so they just keep working and let the world do it’s own thing. No matter how crazy things get, Omnics and uprisings, bombings and conflicts, they still have their work and each other, and so long as they have each other, they don’t really mind what the world does.

Hey! If the inspiration strikes, can you tell us more about Birdie Hart and Nines? What was her life like pre-Embrace? Where/how do they meet? What does Nines think of her and her involvement with the LA 5? What's their relationship like post-VTMB? Thanks and have a great day! :D
Birde was born in a small town in Oklahoma in 1899, she was raised in a orphanage that was run by nuns. Bernadette isn’t technically her name, she took the name from one of the nuns when she turned eighteen, left (more got kicked out of) the orphanage, & made her way to LA. Where she eventually got a job as a newspaper as a columnist, mainly giving ladies life advice. Of course she really wanted to be a real journalist.
She eventually met Nines a few years later during the 30's. Birdie's sire Algernon Hart was the Keeper of Elysium at the time, & was throwing really wild parties in his giant af mansion. Some real Great Gatsby type of events. (The parties used to be even crazier during the 20's but then the great depression happened)
Nines was a young Fledgling, only Embraced a couple of months before. He was forced to come by his Sire, & of course Nines coming from a very poor lower class background during The Depression. He felt very uncomfortable (& frankly pretty pissed off) about the whole situation. So in an attempt to quell his rage, he decided to hide out in one of the mansion's many rooms. The room he just so happened to choose was Birdie's.
As for her involvement with the L.A 5, I wouldn't necessarily call it involvement. She doesn't even really know most of the coterie, she somewhat knows Ruby due to her being a loyal Anarch. But she doesn't technically meet the rest of the coterie until what would be the Downtown Arc. So Nines doesn't really have any thoughts on it.
In terms of Birdie's involvement with the VtM:B story, she's a side character. She's one of my fav OC's, but she doesn't have alot of involvement with The L.A 5. Birdie is a character very similar to Beckett in a lot of ways. She has a lot of lucrative relationships within the World of Darkness. Her Sire Algernon, her relationship with Nines, being in a coterie with two other Barons, she was present in India during The Week of Nightmares, she has access to Carmelita Neillson's library, she's even briefly traveled with Beckett. But in terms of VtM:B, she doesn't play a very big role.
At some point I'll find a way to give Birdie her own story. I'm sorry this took me so long to answer this, a combination of working on other projects & struggling with depression took away alot of my time.

Any thoughts on npcs from MOTW Joey you can share?
Hehehehe
There are MANY thoughts :)
In order of appearance!! (Discounting some that Joey didn’t really interact all that much with; sorry Miss Rodriguez and Walter)
Henry: Henry is Joey’s best friend. His partner. He’s closer with him than he is with pretty much all of the rest of the studio. He loves Henry deeply and would go to the ends of the Earth for him. Joey wants him to be happy. He will never, ever forgive himself for what happened to Henry, and he won’t stop or rest until he’s back home and safe.
Marino: Joey is… conflicted about him. On one hand, Marino is a valuable source of information and of resources. There’s so much stuff packed away in that little antique shop of his, no doubt more of it magical like the mirror was. On the other… he’s also extremely frustrating to interact with so far. Cagey for seemingly no reason, doesn’t take things seriously; at least, that’s Joey’s impression of him. It’s possible his feelings may soften in the future, but for now he has a strong distaste for the man. Despite how hot he may be
Allison: Okay technically she wasn’t actually present in the game yet she was at most a cameo but her and Joey are friends and I think it’s good. He thinks she’s interesting and talented. They’re magic buddies.
Moon: Joey doesn’t know how to feel about Moon. He hardly knows who Moon is, really, aside from a strangely familiar figure who appeared in a dream, and seems to be the creator of the magic mirrors. He pities them, in a sort of detached way; the way you might feel sorry for the people at a stranger’s funeral. With the things that occurred with the mirror, he wants to contact them again, but without knowing who they are, he can’t begin to figure out how.
Joseph: Joey doesn’t like him. They are so similar in appearance, and yet so opposite in personality. He figures if you’re going to make a copy of him, you could at least try to get the personality right; and yet Joseph is prickly and hostile and downright antagonistic, where Joey is friendly and charming and caring. If Nathan hadn’t interrupted, Joey would have put him in his place.
Nathan: (not arch) Speaking of Nathan, Joey is… somewhat baffled by him. They didn’t really interact much, all things considered, but of all the toon doubles, he seems by far the least backwards in personality. Seems a little more serious than Norman, but aside from that he seems remarkably similar. He was helpful, and overall, Joey likes him.
Samson: Joey doesn’t see him as a version of Sammy. He can’t. There is too little similar about them beyond their appearances. So far, Samson has none of the same spark, the same fire, that Joey sees in Sammy. None of the passion or sharp bite. He’s like a rose with all of the thorns removed; sweet and pretty, but dreadfully boring.
The Prophet: Joey thinks he’s an invaluable source of information and an incredibly useful ally. He has the most information about the mirror world of all of them, and so far he’s been extremely willing to share it. It’s a little strange to think of him as a version of Sammy, and Joey still has a nasty bruise from when the ink man tried to crush his windpipe, but he’s trying to keep an open mind about it.
Linda: she scares him a little bit. He feels horrible about the situation he’s put her in, but was too afraid to tell her lest she break his bones like toothpicks(/j). Really he just knew he’d break down crying if he tried. He DOES however get the feeling she’ll have his head on a pike if he doesn’t fix this soon. In terms of their actual relationship, I don’t really know. He’s a tiiiny bit jealous of her but he tries very hard not to be.
Norman: hard to say for now. Knows he knows a lot.

He loved to preach as a layperson, and spent his time ministering to Christians who had been sent to work in the quarry as a punishment for defending their faith. He was a confirmed bachelor, and became a member of the clergy, being ordained a deacon by St. Gaudentius. The earliest manuscripts mentioning Saint Marinus and his life date to the 10th century. Marinus is depicted as a bearded layman with a stonemason's hammer.
April 22 - Inosuke Hashibira
Sts. Epipodius and Alexander: Both of them are venerated by the Church as saints. Both have received the crown of martyrdom during the reign of Marcus Aurelius in 178 AD. Their major shrine can be found in the Lyon Cathedral at Place Saint-Jean in Lyon, France.
December 28 - Nezuko Kamado
Massacre of the Innocents (Feast of the Holy Innocents): According to the Gospel of Matthew (2:13-18), Herod the Great, king of Judea, orders the execution of all male children two years old and under in the vicinity of Bethlehem. The Catholic Church has claimed the children murdered in Jesus's stead as the first Christian martyrs. From the time of Charlemagne, St. Sicarius of Bethlehem was venerated at Brantôme, Dordogne as one of the purported victims of the Massacre.
[The Hashira (The Pillars)]
February 8 - Giyu Tomioka
St. Josephine Bakhita: 20th century Sudanese-Italian religious sister of the Canossian order who, after having been a slave in Sudan, she lived in Italy for 45 years. In 1889, an Italian court ruled that because the British had outlawed slavery in Sudan before Bakhita's birth and because Italian law had never recognized slavery as legal, Bakhita had never legally been a slave. For the first time in her life, Bakhita found herself in control of her own destiny, and chose to remain with the Canossians. Years after her death, she is canonized by Pope St. John Paul II on October 1, 2000, and she is the patron saint of Sudan and survivors of human trafficking.
June 1 - Mitsuri Kanroji
St. Justin Martyr: 2nd century martyr, and is one of the most important of the Greek philosopher-Apologists in the early Christian church. His writings represent one of the first positive encounters of Christian revelation with Greek philosophy and laid the basis for a theology of history. He studied Stoic, Platonic, and other pagan philosophies and then became a Christian in 132, possibly at Ephesus. He spent a considerable time in Rome. Some years later, after debating with the cynic Crescens, Justin was denounced to the Roman prefect as subversive and condemned to death with six companions.
September 15 - Obanai Iguro
Our Lady of Sorrows (Our Lady of Piety, Our Lady of the Seven Sorrows): One of the most popular Marian titles, a popular Roman Catholic devotion and a key subject for Marian art. The Virgin Mary is portrayed in a sorrowful and lacrimating affect, with seven long knives or daggers piercing her heart, often bleeding. Devotional prayers that consist of meditation began to elaborate on her Seven Sorrows based on the prophecy of Simeon in imagery. She is the patron of the Servite order, the Congregation of Holy Cross, and Poland (by Pontifical decree of Pope St. Paul VI).
November 29 - Sanemi Shinazugawa
Our Lady of Beauraing (Virgin of the Golden Heart): A Marian title of 33 Marian apparitions reported in Beauraing, Belgium, between November 1932 and January 1933 by five children whose ages ranged between 9 and 15. For several years after the apparitions, pilgrims flocked to the small town of Beauraing, and many cures were claimed.
May 10 - Kyojuro Rengoku
St. Damien De Veuster (Damien of Molokai): 19th century religious priest and missionary from the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary. Father Damien was recognized for his ministry, which he led from 1873 until his death in 1889, in the Kingdom of Hawaii for people with leprosy, who lived in government-mandated medical quarantine in a settlement on the Kalaupapa Peninsula of Molokai. During this time, he taught the Catholic faith to the people of Hawaii, and he also cared for the patients and established leaders within the community to build houses, schools, roads, hospitals, and churches. He dressed residents' ulcers, built a reservoir, made coffins, dug graves, shared pipes, and ate poi by hand with them, providing both medical and emotional support. Canonized by Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI in October 2009, his major relics can be found in Leuven, Belgium (where his bodily relics is laid) and in Molokai (hand relics).
August 23 - Gyomei Himejima
St. Rose of Lima: 17th century Peruvian virgin and penitent from the Third Order of St. Dominic, who became known for both her life of severe asceticism and her care of the needy of the city through her own private efforts. She has been designated as a co-patroness of the Philippines along with Saint Pudentiana; both saints were moved to second-class patronage in September 1942 by Pope Pius XII, but Rose remains the primary patroness of Peru and of the local people of Latin America. Her image is featured on the highest denomination banknote of Peru. Canonized in 1671 by Pope Clement X, her major shrine can be found in the Basílica of Santo Domingo in the Peruvian capital. She is the patroness of the Americas, the indigenous people of the Americas, and of Peru, especially the city of Lima, Sittard in the Netherlands, and of India and the Philippines.
October 31 - Tengen Uzui
St. Alphonsus Rodriguez: Spanish Jesuit lay brother and confessor. Years after his death in 1617, he was declared venerable in 1626. He was chosen by the Council General of Majorca as one of the special patrons of the city and island in 1633. After his canonization by Pope Leo XIII, his major shrine can be found in Palma, Majorca, Spain.
August 8 - Muichiro Tokito
St. Dominic de Guzmán: Spanish priest who is widely known as the founder of the Order of Preachers aka the Dominicans. According to one story, Dominic's mother, Bl. Joan of Aza, made a pilgrimage to the Abbey at Silos, and dreamt that a dog leapt from her womb carrying a flaming torch in its mouth (it later becomes one of the saint's attributes), and 'seemed to set the earth on fire.' The spread of the Rosary, a Marian devotion, is attributed to Dominic's teachings, and has it for centuries been at the heart of the Order. The Dominicans have been instrumental in spreading the rosary and emphasizing the Catholic belief in the power of the rosary for centuries. His major shrine can be found in Basilica of San Domenico in Bologna, and he is the patron of astronomers.
February 24 - Shinobu Kocho
Bl. Ascensión Nicol y Goñi: 19th century religious, missionary and foundress from the Third Order of St. Dominic. She co-founded and was the first Prioress General of the Congregation of Dominican Missionary Sisters of the Rosary, in which she helped to found in Peru. Today, the congregation has 785 Sisters serving in 21 nations on five continents, and its General Motherhouse is now in Madrid, Spain. Pope St. John Paul II declared her Venerable in 2003. The following year a miracle was declared to have taken place through her intercession, due to which Pope Benedict XVI authorized the process to proceed. Thus, on May 15th, 2005, in St. Peter's Square, Nicol was beatified in a ceremony presided over by Cardinal José Saraiva Martins. She was beatified along with another missionary religious sister, Marianne Cope, who worked among the lepers of Molokai, Hawaii.

Our Monday recap includes everything from the drafted teams to Sports Center Top 10 catches in the outfield.
The morning started off with a practice that was meant to loosen up the muscles, but what it turned into was a tryout for the campers to be scouted by their favorite coaches. The looming worry about the lunch time draft left players diving for fly balls, swinging the bat to hit the ball to the moon, and straining muscles they didn’t even know they had. It was as if they were that little kid again in gym class, waiting for their name to be called onto a team. Don’t fret campers, everyone gets drafted! Participation trophies for all!
The doors then closed and the coaching staff got started on the draft. The room was tense as each name was taken and put onto the board. Victor Rodriguez and Frank Viola got into a scrum over a player who they thought would lead them to the 2020 Fantasy Camp Championship. Trot and Dauber whispered side by side, strategically planning their next move. Alan Embree talked up players he knew nothing about to try and throw off next round choices, but the group caught on to his guerrilla warfare tactics. El Tiante fell asleep.

The teams got together, sang a cheer, and headed out to the fields to try and win their first regular season match.
The Bombers and Heroes had a close game in the main stadium. The campers got fired up as their name could be heard over the loud speakers walking up to the plate. Each team was facing the sun in the outfield. Their chances of catching any fly balls was slim. Against all odds, they rose to the occasion! There were multiple catches made that had the crowd jumping up and down, cheering in pure amazement. Steve Wolfe (Awwwoooooooo) made an unbelievable, almost backwards, snag in the right center. The Heroes were able to rally and win 4-6.
Sabe’s Babes and Wins & Saves was a different story. Wins and Saves crushed the Babes, 14-6. Bret Saberhagen was seen shedding a tear in the dugout after the game, while coach Tom Gordon flipped the Gatorade cooler. Yikes… Wins & Saves, congrats on the first game W and welcome to the winner’s circle- for now.
The Legends and the Outlaws had 27 runs all together. These games were coach pitched. Maybe our coaches should get some more practice in before lobbing the ball over the plate. Campers, take it while you can! That was just a warm up. Embree’s Outlaws outlasted the Legends, and came away with the 15-12 victory.
Something must have been in the water at JetBlue Park yesterday morning, because there was another 29 run game. Stanley’s Steamers and Corsi’s Fireballers went neck and neck, fighting until the last inning. Corsi was seen pacing the dugout, almost about the charge the Ump, at every play. After last camp, Corsi was longing for a team that could win a game. And gosh dammit, the Fireballers did not disappoint. His team ended the drought and won the game 15-14. Corsi, your luck may be changing!
The last game was a blowout not usually seen during coach pitched games. Billy’s Ballgamers demolished Nixon’s DirtDogs 18-3. You heard it here folks, 18-3. Trot is known for pitching zingers against his own team, but was that the reasoning here? Or did Billy “Where’s the sunscreen?” Mueller and Keith “I need to take a nap” Foulke draft the dream team to beat?
We’ll have to wait and see!
