Sealed Records has been on a winning streak as of late. Their reissues of Dolly Mixture and Andy Stratton have been covered here, and recent releases of the Groucho Marxist label and now Twelve Cubic Feet are truly outstanding.

"Straight Out The Fridge" is a reissue of an early 1980s 10" from this London based group whose members were in many other bands including Solid Space. Really, Twelve Cubic Feet sound like a punkier Marine Girls with some of the swag of early Orange Juice. And the vocals really remind me of the great Vomit Launch and Life Without Buildings.

Finally, some of these songs have an early Flying Nun feel - think Look Blue Go Purple and/or Dead Famous People.

I'm going to be upfront. While this music is enjoyably ambient, it is not why we're here. The label that is releasing Viadela - Snap! Clap! Club (Barcelona, Spain) is releasing a European LP version of one of the most charming and engaging albums I've heard in a while - Paris Bandlieue "Gueuseries".

In 2020, three teenage French girls released a cassette of pop. They clearly had just picked up a guitar (if you check their Facebook page you'll get an idea of their beginnings back in 2019). Then, Big Love Records (Japan) issued a short of 100. Now, Snap! Clap! Club have their go at reissuing this gem.

I learned about it through Monorail's top 13 releases from 2023. Their short write up mentioned Marine Girls and Beat Happening. While they don't really sound like The Shaggs you can't help but be reminded. You've got to love Monorail - they posted about a release they don't currently carry.

I went to Snap! Clap! Club to order directly from them. Paris Bandlieue have NO PRESENCE on Bandcamp, but you can listen to the complete album here. I'm not going to lie - it sounds like three teenagers who have picked up a guitar and keyboard. But the vocals!!
