So in this episode Laura, Krys and Dean discuss Valentines Day, mostly in Krysta's corner before we dig into the life of Harry Oakes. We discuss his life, how he discovered his fortune, how he met his young wife and became a British Citizen and earned the title of Baronet as he settled in the Bahamas. The Bahamas was governed by the Duke of Windsor, the former King of England Edward the VIII and his American wife the Duchess of Windsor. We learn about his murder, how someone attempted to set the body on fire using insecticide and then we discuss suspects, the bungling of the investigation and so much more in this man-history-can-be-weird episode of the Family Plot Podcast!!

Lodging in Marigny
Try Peter and Paul Boutique Hotel nestled within the lovely homes of the historic Marigny
Neighborhood just within reach of the French Quarter when you’re in the Crescent City, NOLA. I’m going back there very soon.
It’s a delightfully lovely lodging that soothes you both emotionally and physically with its muted colors of beige and tan and a subtle pop of yellow, just enough to make you smile and lift your spirits into a pampered stay at this spirited place.
It’s a converted catholic school, convent and church dotted with wooden art of Peter and Paul, light sconces held by hands, a grand staircase and many other features to explore.
The large terra cotta floor tiles are cool to the feet as they support your body and the arched entrance to the shower invites you to a rain shower as you pamper and nourish your body and soul with their provision of hair and skin products contained in antique style large brown bottles
While there you must try The Elysian Bar with its creative whimsical savories and sweets. If you fancy crafted cocktails it’s the place for you.
Two of my favs last night in the small plate choices were fancy baked meaty squash sitting in a fresh lake of crème fresh with barely toasted corn surprising you with both a sweet and savory high. La pièce de résistance, a chamomile semifreddo atop a Snow White violet shortbread with the most delicate of dusting.

This New Orleans cat knows exactly how good they have it Walking through the quirky Marigny neighborhood in New Orleans, I came across a black cat lounging in its custom painted abode in peach and turquoise, which perfectly complemented its owner's home. The addition of a tiny Pride flag and string lights made the scene even more "Marigny." — Read the rest https://boingboing.net/2023/02/02/this-new-orleans-cat-knows-exactly-how-good-they-have-it.html

It's really funny having one parent who slept on the beach for a significant part of their life and one parent who has never been drunk ever and does two weeks of research before booking a hotel room. I call my dad and tell him I blacked out at karaoke night and threw up in a subway station and he's like "Well, it happens" but I tell my mother I took a train by myself and she's like "ARE YOU OKAY??"
#i cannot WAIT to tell her about my travels#she's going to be so appalled and it's going to be so funny#yes mom I got drunk with strangers at mardi gras. yes there were naked people. yes I ended up laying down on a sidewalk in marigny.#my reality is so far removed from her wildest imaginations#the idea that i traveled halfway across germany alone without knowing a lick of german is going to make her lose her shit
