Everyone grieves in different ways. For some, it could take longer or shorter. I do know it never disappears. An ember still smolders inside me. Most days, I don’t notice it, but, out of the blue, it’ll flare to life.

I am very lucky I got the opportunity to read the ARC (Advanced Reading Copy) of this novel. I was not paid for this review and these words are entirely my own.
With that being said… My teenage heart had waited over a decade for this book! One word. Valek! The world always needs more Valek. Finally being able to see his perspective, his behind the scene missions and him falling in love with Yelena was like reading Poison Study again for the first time all over again. I’m fact, I’m in the process of reading the entire series again because of it.
I want share more but I recommend reading it for yourself. I know you won’t be disappointed. I wasn’t.

Everyone makes choices in life. Some bad, some good. It’s called living, and if you want to bow out, then go right ahead. But don’t do it halfway. Don’t linger in whiner’s limbo.

Not be Commander/Valek posting but can we address the fact that the Commander carved a C into Valek’s chest which is used as a sign of his loyalty and then many years later Yelena and Valek bound their marriage by carving into each other’s chests. Valek has two carvings on his chest - the Commander, his boss, and Yelena, his wife.
