Louis, babe, I LOVE that you finally put on a little yellow cardigan at the end of season 2 after spending the entire time in Dubai wearing navy and grey retirement-core sweaters but sis you're going to have to up your wardrobe game for season 3. Your ex husband is going on tour, with an album he wrote FOR YOU and he knows that your second marriage is in the bin. Lestats concert is not the time for a little cashmere pullover quiet-luxury number, if you're going to run away from a group of vampires trying to kill you you should do it in leather pants and a sheer top. eyeliner. chains. jewelry. glitter. Daniel was immortal like one week and he was wearing leather jackets, you can do it too.

I agree with the last anon that I can’t recall Louis dressing particularly androgynously in the books, but maybe I’ve missed that. I do think there is slightly more call to think AMC Lestat could dress androgynously given that rockstar fashion tends to be somewhat androgynous by nature, and we know already a handful of costumes he’s worn already, plus the s3 teaser. I don’t think that necessarily makes him “femme” though
(X)
Yeah, interesting, anon! Like I said in the last reply, I’m pretty conscious of only having read the first five books, so I wasn’t sure if it came up later, but I really do appreciate the correction. I don’t really think Louis’ worn anything that I’d consider androgynous on the show either, so it might be more of a fanon thing, I guess (although happy to be proven wrong if people think there are looks that skew that way!)
And yeah, Lestat’s definitely an interesting case and I think the s3 teaser certainly indicates he’s going to be experimenting with fashion going into his rockstar era. I kind of suspect it’ll be a bit like Bowie and other artists of that sort where he’ll have audacious performance fits, but probably dress more traditionally offstage and out of the rockstar persona.

loustat fairytale au? 👀
So I think the little mermaid could be a good match.... 🤔
Okay, so I’m cheating here because this is loumandstat and not technically a fairytale but Swan Lake!
1. Lestat as the Prince!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
2. Louis as a combined Odette and Odile figure. I feel like you could really play with the idea of transformation and identity both from human to bird but also Odette to Odile as transformation.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
3. Armand as Von Rothbart.

4. ‘What else is there’ - truly a Lestat moment
youtube
5. I feel like you could mash up a lot of different fun elements, give loustat the meeting of the King and the Princess from the Wild Swans fairytale, give loumand elements of the Finn the Keen Falcon fairytale, mix in some destabilisation of identity from the Black Swan movie and some nostalgia from The Swan Princess movies. It would also be an interesting writing challenge to try and capture the grace of ballet somehow in the writing and the descriptions of movement

My baby Diana was out adventuring with me for a couple hours while it was nice and hot outside. Can tell she's exhausted! The second she was plopped into the cupholder she stopped moving and nestled herself right on into it. Honestly it probably felt nice because it was like warm and toasty on her belly too.

I really was placed at the exact right time in history and in the exact situation where I would never have the opportunity to dress up in a floor-length pretty dress: awkward homeschooled girl in the 2010’s.

i'm a bit insane over these looks 🥵
ps. honestly the fandom is so creative, but i'm afraid the expectations are too high and people gonna be disappointed if the costume dept will go with the more tame approach. speaking for myself if there's no booty shirts, corsets and high heels i'll be sad.
i n c r e d i b l e, anon. The can can look is genuinely inspired, haha.
And I get the concern! I haven't been disappointed by the costumes yet though, and Carol has a pretty incredible eye for both for inspiration and for delivery, so I don't think there's too much to worry about? I do think the - - mm, style, I guess, will probably vary though between the stage and interview outfits though, and the latter probably will be a bit tamer.
