Jacopo Amigoni (Italian, 1682 - 1752) La infanta María Antonia Fernanda de Borbón, ca. 1750 Museo Del Prado
María Antonia Fernanda de Borbón y Farnesio, was Infanta of Spain, daughter of Felipe V and Isabel Farnesio; she was born in Seville on 11/17/1729 and died on 09/19/1785 in the castle of Moncalieri, province of Turin; she was queen consort of Sardinia, by her marriage, in 1750, with Victor Amadeo III of Savoy. The carnation symbolizes that marriage, as do the fragrant roses and jasmine given to her by Céfiro, the gentle spring wind with butterfly wings. For her part, Cupid, god of Love, offers her yellow daffodils -another symbol of spring- that accompany the decoration of her dress.
