Diario El Informador. Tonalá Jalisco. A 15 de julio de 1922:

“Importante mejora con que cuenta Tonalá. Con asistencia del señor gobernador y de otros altos funcionarios. Este 14 de julio, fue inaugurado el servicio telefónico a Tlaquepaque y a esta ciudad, implementado bajo la iniciativa del presidente municipal D. Roberto G. Chavez”.

“Una mejora de suma importancia acaba de llevarse a efecto en el pueblo de Tonalá. Se trata de una línea telefónica que lo pondrá en comunicación con la villa de Tlaquepaque y con esta ciudad (Guadalajara) por consecuencia.

Con motivo de esta introducción de esta mejora, el pueblo de Tonalá organizó numerosos festejos. Las autoridades del pueblo y los caracterizados vecinos invitaron con toda anticipación al C. Gobernador Substituto del Estado, don Antonio Valadez Ramírez y a algunos otros altos funcionarios de la actual administración, para que fueran ellos quienes inaugurarán el servicio de teléfonos, habiendo sido fijado el día ayer para tal acto.

Numerosas familias de Tlaquepaque y de los pueblecitos vecinos (San Martín de las Flores, Tateposco) concurrieron igualmente a Tonalá, que desde hace mucho tiempo no había presentado tal animación.

El C. Gobernador del Estado, que aceptó la invitación, fue recibido en Tlaquepaque por las autoridades tonaltecas (Margarito García Torres, presidente municipal) y una comisión de caracterizados vecinos de dicho pueblo, a donde llegó la comitiva por la tarde.

El trayecto no se efectuó en las condiciones de comodidad que fueran de desearse. La parte de camino entre Tlaquepaque y Tonalá construido especialmente para automóviles, ha sufrido serios desperfectos con las lluvias, y en cuanto a la porción no arreglada, se halla en pésimas condiciones.

Todo el pueblo de Tonalá esperaba al C. Gobernador y su comitiva a la salida del poblado.

Momentos antes de las diecisiete horas arribó la comitiva a Tonalá, habiendo sido objeto de una entusiasta recepción. El Gobernador y sus acompañantes recorrieron algunas calles del pueblito, que habían sido adornadas con anterioridad y finalmente se trasladaron al local en donde se había instalado el teléfono.

Este fue inaugurado por el propio Gobernador (Antonio Valadez Ramírez), quien envió el primer telefonema oficial a Tlaquepaque.

Terminado el acto, la comitiva pasó al Salón de Cabildos del Ayuntamiento (de Tonalá), en donde se había organizado una exhibición de objetos de barro y productos de industria manual fabricados por los indígenas tonaltecas.

Algunos alfareros trabajaron en presencia del C. Gobernador demostrando raras cualidades para el modelado y la figura y especialmente en el decorado a colores.

El señor Gobernador y sus acompañantes fueron invitados a la casa del señor Geronimo Peña, para obsequiarlos con una copa de cogñac.

A petición de los vecinos de Tonalá, el señor J. Guadalupe Zuno, Alcalde de Guadalajara, en breves palabras habló de la trascendencia de la inauguración llevada a cabo y las mejoras que significa para el pueblo tonalteca.

El señor Gobernador a su vez, se dirigió a los habitantes para expresarles su agradecimiento por la cordial recepción de la que fue objeto y ofreció ayudar en cuanto fuera posible para el mejoramiento material de Tonalá, principalmente por lo que hace al camino de automóviles y la introducción de agua potable. Después y para terminar, hablo el Diputado Enrique Diaz de León.

Posteriormente fue ofrecida una gran merienda a los excursionistas, que se efectuó en Los Estanques, punto de gran belleza natural. Ya entrada la noche, se retiró la comitiva y dio principio un gran baile en la casa del señor Peña, que revistió gran animación.

Concurrieron, entre otras personas las familias de los señores Roberto Chávez, Juan Flores, Ignacio Díaz, Manuel Hernández Gómez, Jesús Flores, Victor Zermeño, Vicente Villalobos, Ricardo Santana y otras muchas.

Como curiosidad propia del pueblo, fue mostrado al señor Gobernador un documento que data del año de 1516 y que es el TÍTULO ORIGINAL DEL PUEBLO DE TONALÁ, firmado por HERNÁN CORTÉS, TORIBIO CARLIE HUMBOLT y YETINAHUAC NETZAHUALPILLE, EL 28 DE DICIEMBRE DEL AÑO CITADO; SU CONTENIDO SE REFIERE PRINCIPALMENTE A LA CONQUISTA Y AL FUNDO LEGAL DEL PUEBLO (el corresponsal debió haber tomado equivocadamente la fecha, puesto que Hernán Cortés no llegó a México sino a través de la primera expedición en 1518, y no se tiene noticia de llegada o acercamiento al pueblo de Tonalá; por lo que de existir, este documento podría considerarse apócrifo. Por otra parte, en los nombres de los expedicionarios venidos a Mexico o la Nueva Galicia, no se tiene constancia de algún tercio o soldado de apellido Humbolt. Finalmente, el supuesto nombre de Yetinahuac Netzahualpille o Netzahualpilli, no aparece referido en alguna de las crónicas de conquista de Tonalá, aunque el nombre de Netzahualpilli significa ‘Niño que ayuna’ o ‘Señor hambriento’; bien pudiera aplicarse al hijo del “tlatoani” o señor de la región).

Entre las mejoras que también fueron inauguradas se encuentra el empedrado de las calles alrededor de la Plaza de Armas (actual plaza cihualpilli), que fue construido con fondos particulares suscritos por los señores Francisco Gutierrez Mejía, Rafael García de Quevedo, Roberto Chávez y Manuel Hernández Gómez.

Los asistentes al acto inaugural regresaron a esta ciudad (Guadalajara) a bordo de sus actos. Fueron los señores Antonio Valadez Ramírez, Gobernador del Estado; licenciado Jesús Guzmán Vaca Secretario de Gobierno; José G. Zuno, Alcalde de Guadalajara; Enrique Díaz de León, Diputado; Lic. Silvano Barba González, Procurador General de Justicia; Municipes: Everardo Díaz Flores, Severiano Lozano, Alejandro Torres, Rafael G. de Quevedo, Manuel Hernández y Hernández, doctor Francisco Gutierrez Mejía, Antonio Sánchez, Javier Álvarez del Castillo, Regidor Manuel Iñigo, José Navarro, Rafael R. Soriano, Ignacio Díaz, Manuel y José Talamantes y otros cuyos nombres sentimos recordar”.

YOUTH HOSTEL

Η βασική ιδέα για την δημιουργία των ξενώνων φιλοξενίας  (Youth Hostels) γεννήθηκε από τον καθηγητή Richard Shirrmann, το (1909).Ο R.Shirrman (1909) βλέποντας  το αντίκτυπο που είχε προκαλέσει η -εκβιομηχάνιση των πόλεων-  στην ψυχοσωματική υγεία των σπουδαστών του, ξεκίνησε την οργάνωση μονοήμερων εκδρομών όπου κατά την διάρκειά τους ,οι φοιτητές μοιράζονταν έναν κοινό χώρο στον οποίο διανυκτέρευαν όλοι μαζί. Βάση αυτής της θεωρίας στηρίχθηκε όλη η φιλοσοφία των Hostel (Richards, 2016).

Πλέον, οι νέοι με περιορισμένο οικονομικό προϋπολογισμό είναι σε θέση να ταξιδέψουν εκτός  συνόρων ,διασφαλίζοντας δωμάτια σε εξαιρετικά χαμηλές τιμές  χωρίς επιπλέον ξενοδοχειακές υπηρεσίες και πολυτέλειες   (Ralston, 2006) Καθώς η σημασία των ταξιδιών για τους νέους αυξήθηκε, ο αριθμός των ξενώνων σημείωσε ραγδαία ανάπτυξη. Σύμφωνα με στοιχεία του Παγκόσμιου Οργανισμού Τουρισμού των Ηνωμένων Εθνών (UNWTO, 2008) Οι περισσότερες εγκαταστάσεις  τοποθετήθηκαν στην Ευρώπη, ακολουθώντας η Ασία, η Αυστραλία και πόλεις της Βόρειας Αμερικής. Ωστόσο, η ζήτηση για τα ταξίδια των νέων αυξήθηκε ταχύτερα από ό, τι η συνολική παγκόσμια ζήτηση του τουρισμού και αυτό συνέβαλλε σε μια σταθερά ανοδική αύξηση της οικονομίας των χωρών  (UNWTO, 2008)

Νεανικό τουρισμό μπορούμε να χαρακτηρίσουμε ομάδες ατόμων ηλικιακής κλίμακας από 15-26 ετών και συνήθως ταξιδεύουν με παρέες. Δεδομένου ότι οι νέοι ταξιδιώτες γενικά δεν ξοδεύουν χρήματα που έχουν κερδίσει οι ίδιοι, προτιμούν να θυσιάσουν τις ανέσεις ενός πολυτελούς ξενοδοχείου και να αρκεστούν στις παροχές ενός ξενώνα. Ωστόσο, επενδύουν σε προορισμούς όπου θα ζήσουν έντονες στιγμές με πρωταρχικό σκοπό την ικανοποίηση των αναγκών τους. (Horak, Weber, 2015)

Στον χώρο της Κίνας επικρατεί ένας ταχέα αναπτυσσόμενος εγχώριος τουρισμός βασισμένος στην φιλοξενία της νεότερης γενιάς ανθρώπων. Η ολοκληρωτική ικανοποίηση του επισκέπτη από την διαμονή του είναι υψηλή, αν και υπάρχει κάποια ανησυχία για την ανοχή  του περιβάλλοντος και τον υπερπληθυσμό λόγω του πολύ υψηλού αριθμού τουριστών. Αυτό μας υποδεικνύει ότι ο τουρισμός θα συνεχίσει να αυξάνεται τουλάχιστον για μια ακόμη δεκαετία, γεγονός που θα επιδεινώσει την περιοχή, δημιουργώντας δυνητικά και πολύ σοβαρά περιβαλλοντικά προβλήματα (Yang, 2011)

Με  βάση τα σημερινά δεδομένα και τις ανέσεις που παρέχει η σύγχρονη φιλοξενία ,οι ξενώνες προσφέρουν στους νέους επιπλέον ανέσεις   όπου πέρα από τις βασικές παροχές (κρεβάτι ,κουζίνα ,μπάνιο) απολαμβάνουν χώρους αναψυχής που στεγάζονται στο ίδιο κτήριο και   ελεύθερη χρήση του διαδικτύου. (Ajayi, Ajani & Nwosu, 2015) Τέτοιες παροχές δεν υφίσταται στον Ελλαδικό χώρο, καθώς σύμφωνα με την Εφημερίδα της Κυβερνήσεως (2014)οι προδιαγραφές για την λειτουργία μιας τέτοιας μονάδας είναι περιορισμένες και η φορολόγηση των υπηρεσιών  υψηλή.

Συμπερασματικά, οι ανάγκες του τουρισμού της νεολαίας στοχεύει στην απόκτηση νέων εμπειριών, καθιστώντας τους ξενώνες φιλοξενίας κατάλληλους χώρους για την παραμονή τους. Παράλληλα η υπερβολική έλευση των τουριστών πέρα από το θετικό της οικονομικής ανόδου λειτουργεί σε βάρος του περιβάλλοντος. Για αυτό πρέπει να δοθούν αυστηρά μέτρα υπέρ της προστασίας του περιβάλλοντος και διώκονται ποινικά οι πράξεις εις βάθος του.

    One of us is a huge Flash fan, and so I love this almost definite Barry Allen (Flash II) cameo from the ‘Trial of the White Tiger’ arc. (My only complaint is that he isn’t wearing a bowtie-- though that might have been too obvious.) And it isn’t an isolated incident! Here’s Lois Lane in the first issue of Karl Kesel’s run:

Daredevil vol. 1 #353 by Karl Kesel, Cary Nord, and Christie Scheele

    DC characters are frequently acknowledged in the Marvel universe (and vice versa), but they’re usually referred to as fictional. However, there have also been a bunch of multiverse-hopping Marvel/DC crossover comics, which are a lot of fun if you’re able to track them down. Matt usually isn’t involved in the big team-ups, but he has shared a few one-shots with Batman:   

Bruce: “Let’s say you’re visually impaired. You favor your other modes of sensory input. A subtle inclination of your head when there’s a sound. An extremely slight flaring of your nostrils, probably indicating olfactory acuteness. You’re practiced-- or possess sensory enhancements-- making your powers of observation markedly proficient.”

Matt: “Thanks. Yours aren’t bad, either.”

Matt: “Batcave, huh? Reed Richards, eat your heart out! You really take what you do seriously, don’t you?”

Bruce: “I have to.”

    And of course, there’s also Slade Murdock (AKA Dare the Terminator) from Amalgam Comics, a joint Marvel/DC venture that literally melded together characters from the two franchises. Dare is a female amalgam of Daredevil and Deathstroke, and she works alongside Elektra Kyle (Catsai)-- a combination of Elektra and Catwoman. 

“Dare and Catsai are back in town. Let’s hope the city’s stocked up on bodybags. The corpse-in-the-making is Deadeye, a killer infamous for never missing his mark. The ladies used him for target practice on their way to murder the mayor of Gotham.”

Catsai: “I don’t know why... but this just feels right!”

We remember.

16 years ago, my church held an impromptu service in the wake of 9/11. There was only a preliminary list of the people killed. Everybody drew little sheets of paper with a name on it from a basket, and during the prayer we each read the name we held aloud at the same time. The name I got was Stephen Dimino. I make a point to say his name out loud several times a day every 9/11.

I put a list of their names under the cut. You will be scrolling for a long time. I encourage everyone to pick out a name, write it down and say it in whatever form you communicate best be it AAC, sign language, or even keeping a photo of that person with their name if you can find a photo of them.

Some say a person’s memory stays alive as long as their name is still read or spoken. I can’t bring back the people who died that awful day, but I can use this platform to put their names out there so their memory stays alive.

Manny's Relief

He rolled out of bed exhausted.

The nightlight in  the  bathroom provided him a naviatgional aid.

He arrived at his destination, sleepily executed the practiced routine; straddled the bowl, pissed and flushed. He moved to the basin,

turned the spigot, caught the flow in cupped hands, splashed and rinsed  his face. The faucet flowed.   Water dripped from his chin, nose and ears.  He was unaware of competing rivulets that raced down his torso and back to his pubic hairs and crack of his butt.

A hand on each side of the basin, he supported himself there, focused on nothing.  With effort, he raised his head, and leaned toward the mirror.  He stared beyond the image.

Manuel Gutierrez Morales, descendent of a Spanish governor of Havana, whose European educated parents fled Cuba to cheat Castro's firing squads; found it increasingly difficult to determine if he were asleep and dreaming or awake and recalling a dream, had a melt down.

Manny believed tormenters hid inside reflective objects, and exited their redoubts while he slept.  

His demons appeared innocent, humorous even, and presented as The Joker, Big Boy Caprice and Veronica Rabbit. They pranked him in the worst of times and places.  Running out of fuel out on the I-625 freeway, phone callers that failed to respond when he answered, unpaid bills that accumulated.  Well intentioned, sympathetic family and friends were initially amused by his "crazy game" now avoided and ignored him.  Strained relationships, broke. He was alone.

Here, concealed in his mirror, adversaries waited.

Their presence could be confirmed if one would only "Look!"

Traces of facial compact powder revealed Veronica had been here. There!  Through the glass, just beyond, he perceived motion. Red and blue light diffracted by beveled glass exposed The Joker!

"Here. Now!"

He took the battle to Them!

He snatched the silvered pane toward himself.  The looking glass pivoted on its hinge, smashed against his face.  He turned his head as if a parody; "H-e-r-e'-s  Manny!"

The fractured mirror that found Manny's jugular exorcised his demons and brought him peace.

CRÓNICA DE LA LLEGADA DEL SERVICIO TELEFÓNICO A TONALÁ. 14 de julio de 1922.

“Importante mejora con que cuenta Tonalá. Con asistencia del señor gobernador y de otros altos funcionarios. Fue inaugurado el servicio telefónico a Tlaquepaque y a esta ciudad”.

“Una mejora de suma importancia acaba de llevarse a efecto en el pueblo de Tonalá. Se trata de una línea telefónica que lo pondrá en comunicación con la villa de Tlaquepaque y con esta ciudad (Guadalajara) por consecuencia.

Con motivo de esta introducción de esta mejora, el pueblo de Tonalá organizó numerosos festejos. Las autoridades del pueblo y los caracterizados vecinos invitaron con toda anticipación al C. Gobernador Substituto del Estado, don Antonio Valadez Ramírez y a algunos otros altos funcionarios de la actual administración, para que fueran ellos quienes inaugurarán el servicio de teléfonos, habiendo sido fijado el día ayer para tal acto.

Numerosas familias de Tlaquepaque y de los pueblecitos vecinos (San Martín de las Flores, Tateposco) concurrieron igualmente a Tonalá, que desde hace mucho tiempo no había presentado tal animación.

El C. Gobernador del Estado, que aceptó la invitación, fue recibido en Tlaquepaque por las autoridades tonaltecas (Margarito García Torres, presidente municipal) y una comisión de caracterizados vecinos de dicho pueblo, a donde llegó la comitiva por la tarde.

El trayecto no se efectuó en las condiciones de comodidad que fueran de desearse. La parte de camino entre Tlaquepaque y Tonalá construido especialmente para automóviles, ha sufrido serios desperfectos con las lluvias, y en cuanto a la porción no arreglada, se halla en pésimas condiciones.

Todo el pueblo de Tonalá esperaba al C. Gobernador y su comitiva a la salida del poblado.

Momentos antes de las diecisiete horas arribó la comitiva a Tonalá, habiendo sido objeto de una entusiasta recepción. El Gobernador y sus acompañantes recorrieron algunas calles del pueblito, que habían sido adornadas con anterioridad y finalmente se trasladaron al local en donde se había instalado el teléfono.

Este fue inaugurado por el propio Gobernador (Antonio Valadez Ramírez), quien envió el primer telefonema oficial a Tlaquepaque.

Terminado el acto, la comitiva pasó al Salón de Cabildos del Ayuntamiento (de Tonalá), en donde se había organizado una exhibición de objetos de barro y productos de industria manual fabricados por los indígenas tonaltecas.

Algunos alfareros trabajaron en presencia del C. Gobernador demostrando raras cualidades para el modelado y la figura y especialmente en el decorado a colores.

El señor Gobernador y sus acompañantes fueron invitados a la casa del señor Geronimo Peña, para obsequiarlos con una copa de cogñac.

A petición de los vecinos de Tonalá, el señor J. Guadalupe Zuno, Alcalde de Guadalajara, en breves palabras habló de la trascendencia de la inauguración llevada a cabo y las mejoras que significa para el pueblo tonalteca.

El señor Gobernador a su vez, se dirigió a los habitantes para expresarles su agradecimiento por la cordial recepción de la que fue objeto y ofreció ayudar en cuanto fuera posible para el mejoramiento material de Tonalá, principalmente por lo que hace al camino de automóviles y la introducción de agua potable. Después y para terminar, hablo el Diputado Enrique Diaz de León.

Posteriormente fue ofrecida una gran merienda a los excursionistas, que se efectuó en Los Estanques, punto de gran belleza natural. Ya entrada la noche, se retiró la comitiva y dio principio un gran baile en la casa del señor Peña, que revistió gran animación.

Concurrieron, entre otras personas las familias de los señores Roberto Chávez, Juan Flores, Ignacio Díaz, Manuel Hernández Gómez, Jesús Flores, Victor Zermeño, Vicente Villalobos, Ricardo Santana y otras muchas.

Como curiosidad propia del pueblo, fue mostrado al señor Gobernador un documento que data del año de 1516 y que es el TÍTULO ORIGINAL DEL PUEBLO DE TONALÁ, firmado por HERNÁN CORTÉS, TORIBIO CARLIE HUMBOLT y YETINAHUAC NETZAHUALPILLE, EL 28 DE DICIEMBRE DEL AÑO CITADO; SU CONTENIDO SE REFIERE PRINCIPALMENTE A LA CONQUISTA Y AL FUNDO LEGAL DEL PUEBLO (el corresponsal debió haber tomado equivocadamente la fecha, puesto que Hernán Cortés no llegó a México sino a través de la primera expedición en 1518, y no se tiene noticia de llegada o acercamiento al pueblo de Tonalá; por lo que de existir, este documento podría considerarse apócrifo. Por otra parte, en los nombres de los expedicionarios venidos a Mexico o la Nueva Galicia, no se tiene constancia de algún tercio o soldado de apellido Humbolt. Finalmente, el supuesto nombre de Yetinahuac Netzahualpille o Netzahualpilli, no aparece referido en alguna de las crónicas de conquista de Tonalá, aunque el nombre de Netzahualpilli significa ‘Niño que ayuna’ o ‘Señor hambriento’; bien pudiera aplicarse al hijo del “tlatoani” o señor de la región).

MANILA – The Office of the Ombudsman (OMB) has suspended 89 punong barangays (village chiefs) across the country for six months over anomalies involving the implementation of the first tranche of the social amelioration program (SAP).

In a press release issued on Saturday, DILG Secretary Eduardo Año directed the respective municipal/city mayors of these barangay captains to immediately implement the OMB’s order upon receipt while the DILG regional and field officers were directed to ensure the orderly implementation of the mass suspension.

Año thanked Ombudsman Samuel Martires for immediately acting on the complaints filed by the DILG against the erring barangay top officials, saying it will serve as a stern warning to all local government units that any wrong-doing on their part will not be tolerated by the department.

“Naway magsilbing babala ang suspensiyon na ito sa iba pang mga lokal na opisyales. Ang katiwalian ay walang puwang sa ating pamahalaan lalong-lalo pa ngayong panahon ng pandemya (I hope this suspension will serve as warning to other local officials. Corruption has no place in our government especially during pandemic),” he said.

In an order dated Sept. 2, 2020, the OMB said “the evidence on record shows that the guilt of these punong barangays is strong and the charges against them involve serious dishonesty, grave misconduct, abuse of authority and conduct prejudicial to the best interest of the service which may warrant removal from the service.”

The Ombudsman maintained that the continued stay off these punong barangays in office may prejudice the case filed against them, “[so] placing them under preventive suspension for a period of six months pursuant to Republic Act 6770 is proper under the premises.”

DILG spokesperson Undersecretary Jonathan Malaya said the suspension of the 89 punong barangays, the first such mass suspension in the history of the country, is just the latest in a series of moves undertaken by the DILG to weed out corrupt officials in the implementation of the SAP.

He said that acting on the orders of the DILG, the Philippine National Police- Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) has already filed criminal cases against 447 individuals for violations of RA 3019 (Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act), RA 11469 (Bayanihan Act I), and RA 6713 (Code of Conduct of Government Officials and Employees), among others, again in relation to the implementation of the social amelioration program.

Of the 447 suspects, 211 are elected local and barangay officials, 104 are appointed barangay officials and 132 are their civilian co-conspirators. The cases are now being handled by the different city and provincial prosecutors across the country who have started the filing of the necessary information against the suspects in the courts.

NCR, Region 1, 2 top list of suspended officials

According to the Año, Region 1, National Capital Region (NCR), and Region 2 tops the list of suspended punong barangays (PBs) while Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) and Caraga has the least number of suspended officials. Only Region 12 has no suspended village chief among all regions.

Among the 12 suspended village chiefs in Region 1 are Jason C. Dominguez of Barangay Nagsayaoan, Sta. Maria, Ilocos Sur; Marino Cabados Cirilo Sr. of Barangay Cadacad, Narvacan, Ilocos Sur; Antonio Delos Santos of Barangay Laslasong West, Sta. Maria, Ilocos Sur; Elmer Castillo Abenojar of Barangay Guesset, Naguilian, La Union; Samuel S. Fernandez of Barangay Gusing Sur, Naguilian, La Union; Ariel Cayabyab Hiquiana of Barangay San Vicente, San Jacinto, Pangasinan; Walter Velasco of Barangay Cablong, Sta. Barbara, Pangasinan; Angel Oria Sombrito of Barangay Calanutan, Rosales, Pangasinan; Lawrence Gilbert Delos Angeles of Barangay Balogo, Binmaley, Pangasinan; Froilando V. Bartolome Barangay 418, Zone 4 both in District 4, Sampaloc; and Anthony Magno of Barangay 283, Zone 26, District 3, Binondo, Manila; Nenita Valdez of Barangay Mariblo, San Francisco Del Monte, Quezon City; Ana Liza Rosero of Barangay Teacher’s Village West, Quezon City; and Ritchie Poblacion of Barangay Quirino 2-B, Project 2, Quezon City; and Remedios A.
