A small contract from a military engineering service jump started his practical career. As of 1969 he had no bungalow, car or even a motor cycle or bicycle to his name. It was in such difficult times in 1971 that his one and a half years daughter contracted food poisoning and consequently suffered from diarrhea and vomiting. He took her to the doctor. Unfortunately, in such a situation he did not have the money to buy medicines prescribed by the doctor, upon this he was compelled to sell his household brass water container for Rs. 45 with which he purchased medicine from a chemist. Later he got his daughter admitted to the Hospital, and the sale of other household utensils paid for rest of her treatment.

 Henceforth his financial condition rapidly improved. From 1969 to May 1986 he kept entertaining Military Engineering Services contracts. In 1996, he entered in a joint venture with the Bahria Foundation of Pakistan Navy and together launched the Bahria Town. Later Pakistan Navy was separated from the project & Malik Riaz Hussain took on the project himself.

Pakistan claimed a 75-run win at Lord’s on Sunday after dismissing England for 207 in the first Test of their four-match series. This was Pakistan’s first victory in 20 years at Lords.

Bahria Town Chairman Malik Riaz Hussain has announced a prize of 50,000 pounds for the Pakistani cricket team on its victory, INP news agency reported.

The head of Pakistan’s leading property and estate conglomerate was so impressed by the performance of the green shirts that he announced almost a Rs7 million gift.

Iqra varsity to open medical, nursing school in Karachi’s Bahria Town

KARACHI: The Bahria Town Karachi and Iqra University have signed an agreement to open a university campus in 2020 in Bahria Town, Karachi. The campus is unique in Pakistan as this is the first campus where all foreign faculty members will be hired from international universities, who will be teaching and conducting research here. The custom-built world class campus will offer graduate and postgraduate degrees in various cutting-edge programmes in health sciences, information technology, media science, fashion design, and business administration. The Iqra University has been ranked as the top-most business school of the country by the HEC for the last few years. Senior management from Bahria Town and Iqra University were present at the contract signing.

Malik Riaz Hussain, Chairman Bahria Town, said: “This Bahria Town Karachi campus will become the hallmark in education sector of Pakistan and will play a significant role in achieving the excellence in education and research, global recognition, and international standards by meeting local need."

According to the Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Wasim Qazi, the said campus will be Pakistan’s first campus to have complete foreign faculty and, “this step will be a trendsetter for all the varsities of the country.”
