With Yuta and Mana, it's a relationship built upon two souls who have no one but each other to spend eternity with and wouldn't have anyone else in their place.

With Godai and Kyoko, it's a relationship that grew and flourished as well as helped heal in some aspects and helped them move towards a brighter tomorrow.

With Kagome and Inuyasha, it's a relationship of trust and unconditional love and support for each other, loving the other flaws and all and finding a place in the world.

With Lum and Ataru, it's a relationship that was built with words and actions, coming together to truly be comfortable with sharing their entire hearts with one another.

With Ranma and Akane, it's a relationship that starts off as friendship before blossoming into a complete trust and security with each other that they don't have with anyone else.

Maison Ikkoku references in the new UY episode!!

This is one of the references in the remake which can be found in the manga as well (Ataru’s reading a different volume, though.)

  Men's love-com manga were around long before Rumiko sama.However  Maison Ikkoku is original,cause the main girl is a Widow!

  Godai is frustrated  by his offbeat and mischievous tenants,in the Maison Ikkoku boarding house.Due to them he can’t concentrate to the study and pass the entry exams for university.He’s about to abandon it,but he is stopped at the door by the beautiful Kyoko Otonashi, who announces she will be the new manager.Immediately he’is in love with her,so he decides to stay,and win her heart. Despite the running Sadness(caused of  tragic death of Kyoko’s first husband , Soichiro Otonashi),the persistent  antagonist  Shun Mitaka ,the numerous misunderstandings he was with High Spirit. He bravely tells to Kyoko how he Loves Only her.Thus with honesty she warmly affirms she loves him by quite long ago.Shortly after they get married :)

I love the couples from Rumiko Takahashi's works. Because it's almost a guarantee that they're gonna share a brain cell amongst themselves and be idiots while they're together.

Inuyasha and Kagome? Ranma and Akane? Yuta and Mana? Godai and Kyoko? Ataru and Lum? Yes, 110%. They all share a brain cell between the two of them.

All these couples are absolute morons when they're with their other half and I love it.

Rumiko Takahashi has a new artbook coming out this December! "RUMIKO TAKAHASHI COLORS 1978 -2023" will be 400 pages, with tons of color art, including copies of original drawings from her classics like Urusei Yatsura, Maison Ikkoku, Ranma 1/2, and of course her more modern works like RINNE. There will also be lots of newly written comments by Takahashi herself (in Japanese) about her art and process. It's due to come out mid-December 2023.
