[ENG translation] Joker Out end the tour with a gig at Padova Hall
A report from the Padova gig. Original article written by Marianna Grechi for Inside Music, published on 31.03.2024. English translation by IG valohwave, proofread by IG GBoleyn123.
Tumblr media
Thursday, the 28th of March, marked the end of the tour of Joker Out, the Slovenian breakthrough rock band of the 2010s new wave that made itself known to the wider public with their participation at Eurovision 2023. They played a short set focusing on freshness and coolness, and where you could breathe a certain Erasmus-like atmosphere - for the nostalgic ones.
Fresh from the gig in Milano, whose venue was relocated at the last minute from Magazzini Generali to Circolo Magnolia, Joker Out closed their tour at Padova Hall with the same energy of five friends getting together on the weekend to jam in a garage. Sometimes the complicity among the members is so tangible, it seems they are unaware of having an audience.
Disclaimer: A full immersion Slovenian course might prove to be useless for following a Joker Out gig because the repertoire includes also Serbian songs like 'Demoni' and 'Ona' and some new hits like 'Bluza' and 'Šta bih ja'. So relax, jump, try to at least get the vowels right, and enjoy the concert of Bojan Cvjetićanin's band.
The evening is opened by Bigoyday, a brass band from the Plain of Brescia, that immediately gets the crowd going to the sound of wind instruments, and then, the party begins. A few minutes to get the stage ready and there they are: Bojan, Jan, Kris, Jure and Nace on stage in all their beauty.
Bojan with a glittery eyeshadow, Nace dressed as a "geek", a shirtless Jure, each of them has their own character and yet everything is so spontaneous. I get so lost in this marvel that I don't realise we are already halfway through 'Gola'. Around me something weird happens: everyone is singing, some with a thick Italian accent, others are clearly native speakers, and we're all here in Padova for Joker Out.
From the very beginning the gig feels like an international karaoke - just like during Erasmus! - and it literally becomes one when Bojan comes down from the stage to let the first rows sing verses from 'Umazane misli', each in their own language.
In a few minutes, they touch all our weak spots. We go wild for 'Katrina' and 'Plastika', but there's also Bojan's piano moment with 'Everybody's Waiting', dedicated to those suffering from anxiety and panic attacks. Within an hour, we reach the song that changed Joker Out's life, 'Carpe Diem', precisely the Slovenian version they brought to Eurovision 2023.
At the end, the boys hug each other, they bow. Not without a message of peace against all wars before they end with an acoustic and moving 'Novi val', sung with the choir that is the audience. Among lights and hugs the Erasmus experience is over, we've all got to go back home.

Music Monday: New Music Roundup April 15, 2024
Tumblr media
Here's a quick rundown of some of the hottest music news for today, April 15, 2024! We've got new releases from La Luz, Hollow Coves, Alex Nicol, Jessica Wilde, and Goat Girl, plus tour announcements! La Luz - 'News of the World' I'll Go With You, Good Luck with Your Secret, Dandelions and Close Your Eyes, that's just a small number of songs that come to mind if I was to make a selection based on suggestion. I haven't heard if La Luz before but her album News of The World is tantalizing and heralds a change in the lineup after the departures of Lena Simon and Alice Sandahl and arrival of new member Audrey Johnson  Listen  https://soundcloud.com/sptracks/sets/la-luz-news-of-the-universe/s-qrTlUAYnl2y?si=5227f7e26751414aa86acd90377cc0bf&utm_source=clipboard&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=social_sharing HOLLOW COVES - Return with Feel-good "Milk And Honey"  Announce UK + European Tour Dates for 2024 Previously we had Photographs, and now we have the next one Milk And Honey. I enjoy the softness of his voice, he just glides through the song blissfully. It's as though he's whispering in your ear and it just relaxes you. Beautiful number  "SONG FOR FRANZ" WATCH VISUALISER HERE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BjFhCCi-RG4 STREAM HERE FOR MORE INFORMATION - website - Instagram - Facebook - Tiktok - YouTube Jessica Wilde turns the heat up ahead of forthcoming new album with soulful and soaring single 'FADE'! I am just going to say it, I have heard quite a bit of Jessica's music and I have yet to hear a bad song from her. Fade is a med/fast paced single about learning to let go of addictions and finding inner strength to just move on. The rasping of Jessica's voice suites the mood of the tune. Hollow Coves Release Fantastic New 'Nothing To Lose' Album
Brisbane folk duo 'Hollow Coves' create beautiful atmospheric folk music that certianly raises the hair's on the back of your neck, new Lp 'Nothing To Lose' is a mourish testament to their songwriting craft and is sonically fantastic, a real pleasure to discover.
Capturing the blue-sky ideologies and open sense of adventure that courses through their new album, new single “See You Soon” is a masterclass in their spacious acoustic songcraft. Creating a pin-drop aura with chiming guitars and those glistening Gold Coast harmonies that Matt Carins and Ryan Henderson call their own, this latest single from the childhood friends is a testament to the unbreakable bonds and unforgettable memories we make in life. As they explain: “So you have made a new best friend somewhere in the world and you’ve shared so many great memories with them. Your time together comes to an end and you go your separate ways. Life gets busy and your communication together gets more and more distant. Eventually, you forget to ever contact them or call them but you always have moments in your life that remind you of them or the memories you shared together. This song is all about this feeling and trying to encourage the listener to reconnect with those people. Just send them a message or give them a call and see where they’re at. I’m sure they’d really appreciate it.” Said to be inspired by the works of Angus & Julia Stone (who the band would occasionally cover when they first started out), this tender song was written by Matt Carins with his wife Molly, before receiving the final Hollow Coves finesse with Ryan Henderson as they mapped-out their new album. Recorded at Matt Corby’s Rainbow Valley Studio, the ARIA-winning producer and songwriter teamed up with Hollow Coves for the creation ‘Nothing To Lose’, their eagerly anticipated sophomore release. Seeking to overcome the anxiety and burnout that accompany the relentless pace of the modern world, ‘Nothing to Lose’ is an album all about reconnecting with nature and re-learning to appreciate day-to-day life. Opening up a world of early morning surf trips on Australia’s Gold Coast, to getting lost in the expansive national parks of the American West, or even the slow-and-steady pleasure to be found in craftsmanship; the resultant album is one that explores all aspects of life and how we live it.
With recurring themes of  gratitude, perspective and simplicity, Hollow Coves deliver 11 beautiful new songs of silver linings (“Milk & Honey", “Letting Go") and seeing family (“Photographs”), following your dreams (“On The Way”, “Let’s Go") and having faith to be yourself (“Harder To Fake It”, “Nothing To Lose"), and so much more. Featuring the previously released singles “Photographs”, “On The Way”, “Milk and Honey”, “Letting Go”, “Harder To Fake It” and “See You Soon”, ‘Nothing To Lose’ will be released on 1 March, via the Nettwerk label. In support of the new album, Hollow Coves are preparing for their biggest live shows to date, beginning with a UK and European this Spring. The UK and European dates are listed as follows:

#notizie #news #breakingnews #cronaca #politica #eventi #sport #moda Read the full article
