69th National Film Awards
The National Film Awards 2021, the most prestigious awards in the Indian film industry, have been announced today. 'Rocketry' won the best film. Renowned actor R. Madhavan produced this movie based on the life story of scientist Nambi Narayanan. He played the title role and directed. And RRR movie got the best popular feature filma award. Allu Arjun was chosen as the best actor. Allu Arjun got this award for his performance in the movie 'Pushpa'.
Alia Bhatt (Gangubai Kathiawadi) and Kriti Sanon (Mimi) shared the best actress award. Mega nephew Panja Vaishnav Tej's debut film 'Uppena' won the Best Telugu Feature Film Award. 'Chhallo' was selected as the best Gujarati film. It is known that this film was officially sent to Oscar from India. The 69th National Film Awards have been announced for the films released in the year 2021. The awards ceremony was held at 5 pm on Thursday in New Delhi. R Madhavan starrer Rocketry - the Nambi Effect has made the audience gasp not just PAN India but across the globe. Multiplying its sky high speed, the visual treat has gone global & is eligible for Oscars 2023. The story revolves around Nambi Narayanan, a former Indian Space Scientist and aerospace engineer, known for developing liquid fuel engines getting embroiled in a spy scandal. 2022 was a Rocketary year as it was named 'Most Popular Indian Movie of 2022' by Internet Movie Database (IMDb).
R Madhavan being expressive about the film being in the Oscars First List says, “This film continues to give. The journey gets more rewarding and we are all in a daze. Firstly the love of the people around the world. Nambi sir getting the recognition he so richly deserved and NOW this, what more can I ask for from my directorial debut. The excitement begins again."
Only 4 films from India have made it to the first list. Rocketry also premiered at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival on 19 May. The film also marks the directorial debut of R Madhavan.

Deepika, Rahman to feature in Mega Icons Season 2
Bollywood actor Deepika Padukone and Oscar-winning music composer AR Rahman are among the icons set to feature in National Geographic’s upcoming series Mega Icons Season 2. The show, which will also focus on Ratan Tata and the late Kalpana Chawla, will reveal the stories behind their life choices and the milestone moments that defined their success.
The 4-part series will throw light on the four personalities through cinematic recreations and candid interviews with the guests and their loved ones.
Talking about featuring in Mega Icons Season 2, actor Deepika Padukone, said, “National Geographic for me embodies credibility and iconicity. I feel incredibly humbled to be a part of the celebrated series, Mega Icons, which allows me to share a glimpse of my journey with people across the world.”
Music maestro AR Rahman added, “It’s a pleasure to be part of Nat Geo’s Mega Icons series along with Ratan Tata ji, Deepika Padukone and the life of the late Kalpana Chawla. I hope you find inspiration from our stories.”
The life of Kalpana Chawla, the first woman of Indian origin to go to space, will be told by her parents.
Mega Icons Season 1 debuted in 2018 with stories of Kamal Haasan, Virat Kohli, APJ Abdul Kalam, Kiran Bedi and Dalai Lama. It was hosted by actor R Madhavan.
Mega Icons Season 2 will have its premiere on September 20 at 7 pm with Deepika Padukone’s episode.
