Anime I've Seen in 2024 (New and Old)
New
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Hashira Training arc - 5/10: Too short and over too quickly, really wished they could’ve added more.
My Hero Academia season 7 - 6/10: Tiring at this point, I actually don't care anymore.
Date a Live V - 7/10: It didn't shocked me like everyone else, I've seen heavier shit then this. Still, it's an appropriate finale. I've heard there's like two light novels left in the series. Maybe one day for season 6.
Sand Land - 7/10: The main story is fantastic and a great stand alone series. The second arc is okay. It's good but completely unnecessary.
Bocchi the Rock! movie - 8/10: Cramming a whole season into a two part movie is surprisingly good. Saw it in theaters and I had a good time. So... when season 2?
Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War - The Conflict - 8/10: So far, it's still great. It's very intense.
Dragon Ball Daima - 8/10: Great story, great characters, great world building, and great animation. The pacing though... cocktease.
Old
Dragon Ball - 10/10: Revisited as myself paying tribute to the late Akira Toriyama, who pass away this year. This series is still amazing and charming. Please watch it and ignore the fandom who hated it for no reason. Your life will change forever.
Dragon Ball Z - 9/10: This was the first time I watched it in the original Japanese version. A completely different experience. I had a ton of fun going through the whole thing again.
Lucky Star - 7/10: At first, I really love how these girls just sit around and talk endlessly. But then... it kept going. Then it got super annoying. And then it got to be not fun anymore. By the time I got to ep. 12, I remember saying to myself," WE GOT 12 MORE EPISODES OF THIS SHIT?" The ending was cringing, I'm sorry, I did not like it. I give it some time and... it wasn't that bad in retrospect, I was just not in the right mood. I'll give it another chance one day.
K-ON! - 10/10: I read the manga a year ago and I greatly enjoy it, so I was looking forward for the adaptation. Unfortunately, an unexpected moment occurred in my life that made me delayed my binge watch. Once I felt better, I finally watched it and... it was what I desperately want: comfort. The characters were great, the music is pretty catchy, and the overall experience was enjoyable. When it was over, I felt sad, sad that it was over. But it did heal my soul.
The Melancholy of Haruchi Suzumiya - 4/10: Surprised I didn't receive hate mail from my opinion of this anime. Why did I really hated it? Haruchi Suzumiya herself. Fuck! That! BITCH! I hated everything about her, she gave me flasbacks to Asuka from Evangalion, who is also GODAWFUL! This anime reminded me why I hated tsunderes, I never felt so much anger in my life. If there's any silver lining, it gave me Yuki Nagato, and Mikuru Asahina is cute. I know there's a movie, but I refuse to watch it.
The Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-chan - 7/10: I got nothing to say about this spin-off, but I like this better then the main one.
Berserk (1997) - 8/10: Finally started watching this classic and, wow, this was not what I expect it to be. I was really into the story and the battle scenes were gory. The ending? Still haven’t recover from that dramatic experience.
Hidamari Sketch - 10/10: You know why I started watching this? I watch the second presidential debate, and it was a total shit show. To get away from politics, I put this on, not expecting what I was going to get. And what did I get? Possibly one of the cutest, comforting, fun shows I've seen in awhile. The girls were great, the animation was abstract, and it was pretty relaxing. I was a bit bother by the ecchi scenes, glad Madoka didn't had that treatment. By the end, you feel like you made friends with them. Or better yet, you became family with them. This is another show that heal my soul.
Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid - 8/10: This one has been on my watch list for awhile, but I'm glad I saw it. Another relaxing show that just happens to have plenty of scenes that goes TOO HARD! Like whole, was not expecting them to throw at me. Everything else is great too.
Yuru Yuri - 8/10: I thought I wasn't going to like this because of how mean spirited it can be. But... not only was this shit funny, but it's also heartwarming. This was a lot a fun.
What to expect next year?

(Am I) More Than You Bargained For (Yet) (I)
Summary: Junko leans forward and props both elbows on the table between them. "You like Haruhi treating you like her personal paper doll?"
"Um." Sweat starts to bead at the corner of Mikuru's forehead.
And still, Junko pushes.
OR: Boundaries, and how to play with that thin line until you find them.
Brought to you by a discussion @tobiasdrake and I had about what it would look like if Junko and Haruhi ever met.
Chapter Rating: T. Fic Rating: M for Implied/Referenced Sexual Assault.
AO3
previous chapter | next chapter
“Do you even want to be here?”
It’s a free moment – one that other people might call blessedly free, although Junko doesn’t – a moment where Haruhi isn’t in the Brigade clubroom for whatever reason, likely looking for their “fifth” member.  Technically, they still only have four members, not five; it isn’t as though Yuki ever agreed to join the Brigade (or does much of anything, really), but you try telling Haruhi that the human houseplant in the corner isn’t her property.  Junko doesn’t care that much.  (In point of fact, she doesn’t care at all, but she’s not going to list Yuki as a member of their budding club when she’s not a member.  That would just cause a bunch of bureaucratic issues, which Haruhi would leave to her to straighten out, and she aggressively does not care about that.  Bureaucratic bullshit is boring.  Let Haruhi believe what she wants; Junko’s not touching it.)
Of course, Yuki sits in the exact same spot she always sits in with another book in her hands, flipping through pages every so often like any normal, avid reader of sci-fi novels might.  The only indication that she’s really there at all and not just a cardboard standee are those flipping motions, and the only indication that she’s a real human being and not a robot meant to enact the same motion over and over is the admittedly different book in her hands today than yesterday, than the day before, than three days ago, and so on.  That said, Junko suspects that Yuki’s just rereading the books in the clubroom over and over and over.
(She should suggest a book for her.  Later.)
But Junko isn’t paying attention to Yuki at the moment (at least, no more than normal).  She’s focused on the tiny girl sitting across from her, the girl Haruhi dragged in the first day the club was “open”.  (Again, technically speaking, they aren’t open because they don’t have five members, and unlike the Literature Club, which was already established before everyone but Yuki vanished, the SOS Brigade needs to establish itself with five members before it’s considered as much of anything.)
Mikuru Asahina.
Club Member Designation: Moe.
(Junko has not had this conversation with Haruhi yet.  She can guess at what Haruhi’s designation for her would be, and she doesn’t want to hear it.)
If they were a Super Sentai team, Mikuru’s designation would be PINK.
(Haruhi’s would be red, given that she’s their team leader, and Yuki’s would probably be blue.  Junko gets about that far before getting bored with the idea of assigning them colors; Haruhi would have more fun with that than she does, sure, but she doesn’t want to end up with theme colors.)
Now, to be fair, Junko isn’t looking at Mikuru.  Not exactly.  She’s in the middle of sewing yet another costume for her at Haruhi’s request (before starting on the ones they’ll need for the cultural festival).  After the bunny outfit fiasco (wherein Haruhi bought two bunny costumes – one for Mikuru in red and one for herself in black – but did not have the money to buy one for Junko, who was too tall to wear either of their costumes comfortably), Junko volunteered to make the next batch of costumes.  Most of them are specifically for Mikuru, but she’s made a few for her own personal use as well.  It’s not fair that Mikuru gets to be the only one in a maid costume (although Haruhi wanted one of those, too, for who knows what reason).  Or a nurse costume.  Or so on.
(Of course, Junko made her own bunny costume first.  It’s a startling white to contrast Haruhi’s black, which makes Mikuru’s red stand out even more.  She also enhanced the other costumes; they hadn’t looked very comfortable, and while Haruhi hadn’t cared about discomfort….)
Mikuru mutters something so soft that it might as well be under her breath, except that she would never mean anything mean or rude by what she’s saying.  (That’s the difference between soft and under her breath, after all.)  She knocks her feet together, and she doesn’t look up.
“Because, like, you can leave, you know.  Haruhi can be kind of a bitch.”
Mikuru gasps, and for a moment, just a moment, Junko’s certain that Yuki’s gaze flicks up, too, that when it returns to her book her eyes do not move.
She’s my bitch, Junko doesn’t say, but that doesn’t mean she gets to be yours, too.
“She’s…um.”  Mikuru’s eyes won’t meet Junko’s, which is fine, since Junko isn’t looking at her either.  But where Junko’s eyes are focused on her task (and where Junko is still taking in everything that’s happening around her), Mikuru’s just averting her gaze.  Uncomfortable.  Like always.  “She’s not a—”
Junko’s gaze flicks up, and Mikuru winces.
She can’t even say it.
“Look, clearly you’re uncomfortable.”  Junko waves a hand in the air – or seems to, as she pulls her hand high to tug a thread tight.  “You don’t like the costumes, you don’t like the way Haruhi treats you, and worst of all, you don’t like me.”
Mikuru’s gaze snaps to Junko.  There are tears at the corner of her eyes.  “I didn’t say that!”
“You act like it.”  Junko raises the thread to her teeth and bites it.  More fun than using scissors, anyway.  “You won’t even look at me half the time.  It’s really rude, and it hurts.”
If Mikuru was smart, she’d call Junko a hypocrite.  It isn’t like Junko looks at her half the time, either.  But at least Junko has a good excuse; right now, she’s making another costume, and she needs to pay attention to the threadwork.  It would be hard for someone like her to mess this up, sure, but she still could.
But Mikuru will never call her out like that.  She’s too nice.  (She’s an actual doormat to parallel Yuki’s houseplant, which is why she’s still here.)
“I’m sorry.”  Mikuru says that, and she probably means that, but her eyes drift away in the way people’s often do when they’re ashamed or afraid or know that they’ve done something wrong, which means – ironically enough – that she is still doing exactly what Junko prodded her about.  "I...I like it here.  Really, I do.”
Junko leans forward and props both elbows on the table between them.  “You like Haruhi treating you like her personal paper doll?”
Mikuru won’t look at her.  “Um.”
Junko presses further.  “You like being stripped down to nothing and shoved into a bunny costume from one of those adult stores down the street?”  (She has never asked Haruhi how she got those costumes.  In all honesty, she doesn’t want to know.  It’s far more entertaining to make things up.)
“Um.”  Sweat starts to bead at the corner of Mikuru’s forehead.
And still, Junko pushes.  “You like when she grabs your boobs—”
“Enough.”
It’s the first actual word Junko thinks she’s ever heard Yuki utter without being spoken to directly.  She feels like she should be looking up, like the girl should be standing next to her, like she should have set her book on the table for emphasis.  Maybe this is the only moment where Yuki could be taller than her, and she’d use it for visual authority.
But Yuki is still sitting in the same place she always is, still staring at the book she’s reading, still wrapped in a blanket to protect her from the chill of spring.
It’s infuriating.
“I’m just trying to make a point.”  Junko tries not to grit her teeth and turns back to Mikuru with a half of a smile.  “If you don’t say something, Haruhi’s just going to get worse.  Like me!  But unlike me,” and here she shoots Yuki a look, “she’s not going to stop just because frigid ice bitch over there says it’s enough.”  She turns back to Mikuru and taps her fingers on the tabletop.  “Haruhi doesn’t understand enough.  You get that, right?”
Mikuru just draws closer in on herself.  She doesn’t look up, but she nods.
No one suggests that Junko could do something here.  Not because she can’t; she could totally have a conversation with Haruhi if she wanted, but that defeats the purpose.  People like Mikuru make themselves targets, and targets can be taken advantage of in so many ways if they aren’t careful.  Sure, sure, she could talk to Haruhi, and maybe something would come of that, but she can’t talk to everyone Mikuru ever encounters ever.
Mikuru has to do that herself.
So Junko leans back in her chair, pulls out another spool of thread, and starts the next design on the costume.  “If you don’t enjoy what she’s doing to you, then tell her to stop.  You.  Got it?”
Mikuru starts to nod when the door slams open.  Then she startles, jumps in her seat, and finally – finally – looks up.
Haruhi bursts into the room, hands on her hips, Koizumi following behind her.  “I just thought of what we’re going to do for the festival!”  She grins at each of them in turn.  “We’re going to make a movie!”  Then she grabs Mikuru’s shoulders and physically pulls her up out of her chair.  “And you’re going to be the star!”
Junko feels Mikuru’s eyes land on her.
She ignores her.

@oxeuchii - Starter for Mikuru
Ahh, another school day done, another day finished of thinking of schoolwork. It wasn't like school back home of course, it was both easier and harder, depending on what you were looking at. He wasn't here for the education anyway, no, he was here for something else.. and that something else he was already heading over to right now.
Ever since the eventful first day of school, he had been roped very quickly into what was called the SOS Brigade. He can still remember Haruhi Suzumiya grabbing his tie and dragging him like a bat out of hell over to that clubroom and overexcitedly presenting him like a prized lamb to everyone. People he would be introduced to, who would become his comrades. Kyon, the only one seemingly normal. Itsuki Koizumi, always with a permanent smile on his face, which polite as he was, tended to be more a wary quality. Yuki Nagato, the bookworm in the corner, who hardly said much.. and Mikuru Asahina..
He always found Mikuru tended to light up any room with her presence, so very cute!
Over time he would learn eventually who they really were and why they were here.. and in turn he would tell them about himself and the objective he found shared with them. The discovery that Haruhi was the cause of his assignment, that she was the being able to change the world, subconsciously. And so, an Alien, Time Traveler, Esper and now with a Slider.. and of course, some guy, were here to keep Haurhi happy, the key to keeping the world safe from complete destruction.. and maybe more than that.
Finally, he had made it to the clubhouse, to the clubroom in question. He nearly went for the doorknob, but recent experiences of catching Haruhi... forcefully dressing up Mikuru in different outfits brought him to remember it was best to knock, to prevent further embarrassment. He wondered if anyone was there already. Oh, to imagine being greeted by Mikuru in her maid outfit already brought a smile to his face. That was always a lovely part of the Brigade in itself.
Tumblr media
And so he would knock, to check if anyone was inside.. and if he could come in.

A good way to start pointless arguments: I made an alignment chart for waifus. Yeah, yeah, two of them are from American media. Fight me.
Make your own charts of waifus and/or hasubandos and post them here! Everyone has their own taste in characters, and who appeals to you, or even what traits to use as the axes, will vary. We only want lighthearted mockery of your bad taste in characters here.
Left to right, top to bottom, all names in given name-family name order:
Kaname Chidori, "Full Metal Panic!" Kobayashi, "Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid" Mikuru Asahina, "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya" Tedd Verres (female form), "El Goonish Shive" Hestia, "Is it Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?" Chiho Sasaki, "The Devil is a Part-Timer" Sakura Shinohara, hahaha nope you can't get me to post the source for this go find it yourself Akane Hiyama, "Love Tyrant" Monika, "Doki Doki Literature Club"

What about ItsuHaru then? :>
How did they they meet?I have a headcanon that Itsuki and Haruhi actually met for the first time as kids at the baseball game, where he lent her a shounen superhero manga, thus being the one to introduce her to the supernatural.  A “pre-John Smith”, if you will.Who developed romantic feelings first?I think Itsuki might’ve developed a… maybe not so much “crush” but “fascination” as early as middle school, just observing her from afar.  I like to think he still keeps her junior high photo in his bag tbh haha (and that he prefers her with long hair ;O).Who is their biggest “shipper?”I believe Yuki may actually be a lowkey ItsuHaru shipper based on the events of Disappearance or at least silently rooting for him so Kyon can be freed up for her.  Considering how many times she heard Itsuki repeat the words “I LAV YOU” (and how much it would confuse Haruhi to have him express it to her directly ;() over the course of Endless Eight, I’m sure she must be aware of his feelings for her, and tried to grant him some happiness as well. When did they have their first kiss and under what circumstances?Lmao I don’t see these two ever actually getting together, although I remember I had an idea for a Disappearance!verse fic where Haruhi becomes so depressed she attempts suicide by jumping off the roof of the school and Itsuki saves her by embracing her from behind (get it? *shot*) and telling her he loves her so maybe then? idkWho confessed their feelings first?See above.  I don’t think Itsuki would ever have the balls to do so in the main universe. What was their first official date?Again, I don’t think they would ever start dating for real, but in a perfect fantasy world where they do: Probably the usual “city-wide outing”, just under the pretense of searching for supernatural stuff. ;PHow do they feel about double dates/group dates?Doubling with Kyon would probably be pretty awkward lol.  Though if it’s the whole SOS Brigade maybe it could work. What do they do in their down time?Stargazing/searching for aliens, what else? What was the first meeting of parents as an official couple like?Itsuki’s parents are still a mystery to me (*cough* c'mon Tanigawa, gives us his backstory), and Haruhi’s mom has only been vaguely mentioned in the novels, so I’m not really sure how they’d react.  Personally my friend and I have this crazy headcanon that the genderbent versions of the cast are actually the previous generation, thus making Haruki and Kyonko Haruhi’s parents (and her cousins with Kyon *shot*).  So I think Haruki would be super overprotective and scrutinizing of any potential suitors, but also still an eccentric (to some degree) whose standards are rather… “unusual”/difficult to achieve.  Like making prospective boyfriends run impossible tasks to find some mystical artifact or something lol (probably more as a joke at this point since he doesn’t really believe in that stuff anymore, but he would make it seem deathly serious).  Meanwhile Kyonko is more laidback and keeps her husband in check. What was their first fight over and how did they get past it?Probably Itsuki feeling like he still needs to keep up a facade around her, so Haruhi gets annoyed whenever she senses he’s being fake/keeping secrets from her.  It takes a while before Itsuki is comfortable showing her his true self.Which one is more easily made jealous?I think Itsuki is really prone to jealousy honestly, as he admits he’s envious of Kyon.  He’s just good at keeping it under wraps. What is their favourite thing to get to eat?Not sure about food-wise, but they probably still visit the same café they host SOS Brigade meetings at often.  (Lucky Kyon’s wallet won’t be the one having to pay though. =P)Who’s the cuddly one? What their favourite cuddling position?I think Itsuki would be more of a cuddler tbh.  Again, he probably would go for “embracing her from behind” if he could. Are they hand holders? One advantage to keeping a neat appearance: Haruhi can’t grab him by the tie as easily and drag him around. =P So hand-holding it is.How long do they wait before sleeping together for the first time? What’s the circumstances?Itsuki would likely be too in awe that they’re actually dating in the first place to dare to pursue anything further, so eventually Haruhi would get frustrated that he’s not making a move and just drag him into the bedroom.Who tops?Haruhi, for sure. What’s the worst first they’ve ever gotten into?Maybe the first time Haruhi actually sees a Shinjin and how much pain and suffering her melancholy causes Itsuki?  (Still not really sure how to interpret this question.)Who does the shopping and the cooking?Haruhi.  Even if Itsuki knows how to cook she’d probably take charge of the kitchen anyway.Which one is more organized and prone to tidiness?Itsuki.  He is a member of the “Organization” after all. *shot*Who proposes?Itsuki, in some grand, atypical gesture only befitting his queen.Do they have joined Bachelor/Bacheloette parties or separate?Haruhi would definitely drag Mikuru and Yuki out on their own, as she’d be the one actually throwing the party.  It’s hard to imagine Kyon would come to Itsuki’s, but I think he would anyway even if he grumbles about it.  Maybe the Organization sponsors both?Who is the best man/maid of honour? Any other groomsmen or bridesmaids?See above, basically.Big Ceremony or Small?Big.  And bizarre.  Haruhi loves her festivities, so she’d surely want something both extravagant and extraordinary.Do they have a honeymoon? If so, where?Idk man Itsuki already took her to a mysterious island and ski resort, he’s gonna have to find a way to top that somehow.  Whatever it is, I’m sure Haruhi would want it to be a surprise, and be wildly looking forward to it.Do they have children? How many?No idea, I’ve never thought that far since it would never happen lol.  But any children they did have together would probably be drop-dead gorgeous.

tetsuwan-atom:
Of course he was, a very good reason, but he wouldn’t reveal that situation so easily. If he knew enough of this girl, how connected she was to Yuki and the rest of the Brigade, no doubt he would be happy to let her in on the truth.
“Yeeeeah… let’s just say, saying no can be a very, very hard thing sometimes.” What else can you do when someone like Haruhi Suzumiya pounces on you and literally drags you to the clubroom at speeds faster than a cheetah ever could run.
He really should talk with Yuki more. She was just as much of a friend of the Brigade as everyone else, he’ll always think that. Koizumi was, well, peculiar. Friendly, but Bowen still felt a bit wary of him. Mikuru… he’ll always have time for Mikuru, she was a joy to talk to. Kyon was a great friend, a voice of reason.. and someone he felt he could really trust. Then there was Haruhi. Everybody has hear of Haruhi, so he believes.
“Oh no! I do! I do, very much. I also believe in sliders. I definitely think those sorts of things exist out there.” There was no harm in expressing belief, he wasn’t actually exposing anyone for who they were. As for fun activities, he can think of video games, outings, searches, but when she spoke about dressup..
…That threw him…
Tumblr media
“E…EEHHH?!?” He reeled back a tad, embarrassment all over his features. She’s even using the word ‘perverted’. Embarrassment x2 now. “That’s, that’s not what I meant!!!” So it seems Mikuru’s dress-up has also.. apparently.. gained attention and knowledge. Granted he did like how Mikuru looked as a maid.. that was something he wasn’t keen on letting anyone in on… maybe Koizumi and Kyon though. “T…the SOS Brigade is far more than just… cosplay!!”
Was no really that hard? Unless he KNEW not to upset her? “I don’t think so unless you don’t want to upset Miss.Suzumiya? Am I correct in assuming that?” She leans forward, her index finger tapping at the air in front of her. A normal person wouldn’t know that, she did worry about someone snapping at Haruhi over how she acted-- not just for the world sake but for Haruhi’s well being, it seemed a little unfair always saying yes to her as no’s would hit her harder wouldn’t they?
Oh that’s the first time in awhile she’d heard about sliders, “oh dimension jumping? Somewhat like a time traveller are they not? Well if you add in infinite possibilities and outcomes...” She waves her hand, “sliders are interesting are they not? must be overwhelming as well.”
Tumblr media
Oh? So she was right then. “It’s not? Doesn’t seem like it,” she throws him a wink-- he totally was into it-- it seemed like most people enjoyed it, it ALMOST made her feel sorry for poor Mikuru. Her eyes then rolled, “I know it’s more than just cosplay-- I’m friends with Yuki-chan, plus the club has helped me out before with my ex-boyfriend.”
