Love this post! It’s such a shift in perspective and consciousness. You may not be where you want to be, but give yourself credit. You’ve overcome and done a lot. Rome wasn’t built in a day, please make sure to give yourself time.

you are not where you want to be. you are reminded of it every time you open your eyes to look at your reflection and realize this is the person you never wanted to become. you are reminded of it with every single painful breath you take, every time your chest rises and falls again. you think of it on your way to work, how this is a place you never wanted to end up spending so much time at. how you long to go somewhere else, a quiet place to find peace of mind, an abandoned place to piece yourself back together. you think of how some of the people you invited into your life with open arms probably aren’t right for you anymore. your chest tightens when you realize how much time you wasted trying to love the wrong people, and how many times you’ve been let down because you put too much faith in them - you hoped too much, you loved too hard, you expected things to finally fall into place and were disappointed. but listen - there was not a day in your life where you did not grow. there was not a day where you weren’t learning by making another mistake, by taking another misstep, by looking back and realizing what you’ve been doing wrong all this time. you were so caught up in the journey to becoming yourself that you turned a blind eye on your own growth. but there’s so much love in figuring out who you are. there’s so much strength in finding out what you want and what you do not want, and in changing your life accordingly. maybe you got a little lost - but you’re still on your way to finding out how to become the person you want to be.
