My little collection of photos from when I finally visited THE bench in St James’ Park (please excuse the poor quality, phone camera angles are not my friend!).

These were taken the day after the S3 finale got announced, so it felt quite poignant to me. It’s somewhere I’ve been meaning to visit for ages, and to get to see it at last was so special. It was almost impossible to capture the sheer number of messages and quotes that had been left - we are truly an incredible fandom! Although I heard recently that the bench has now been sanded down, the heart lock is still very much there, and I’m sure it won’t take long for new text to be added ❤️

I saw David Tennant in Macbeth the night before these pics were taken (it was phenomenal!) and then was lucky enough to see him again the next day doing a talk on Shakespeare with Greg Doran. To top it off, I got to meet many fellow GO fans while I was there as well, including @phoen1xr0se who was very lovely!

It was an incredible 48hrs to say the least 🥰

Final stop on the David Tennant adventure was St James’s Park. I’ve always loved this place but it’s even more special now.

Weather was changeable but got to sit on The Bench and drink my hot chocolate. And checked on my pfp Crowley swan a year after I took the previous photo 😊

Bard on the Beach’s hottest ticket is playwright/director Rebecca Northan and Spontaneous Theatre‘s eerie reimagining of the Scottish play. Through the use of creepy masks and a twisted meta-premise about the act of performing Shakespeare, we see a comical yet familiar staging of the classic tale of political ambition in a new way.

When a trio of goblins discover The Complete Works of William Shakespeare, they decide try their hand at “doing theatre” and restage Macbeth with amusing asides. Thankfully, it’s already a hit after a successful original run in Calgary, securing a week-long extension, and selling out before opening night—a Bard first.

Cast: Northan, Bruce Horak (co-playwright), and Ellis Lalonde (original music).

Running live on the Howard Family Stage until Sept. 24.

Found another old costume picture, from a 2010 production of Macbeth. The dress is made with Simplicity 8981. I wore it again in Camelot and Amahl and the Night Visitors. I had so much brown broadcloth left over I just used the last of it in 2020. The hood was made from a pattern on an SCA web site. It was a really fun show.
