KENYU YUKIMIYA is the perfect gentleman.

he moves you, hand on your waist, to the inside of the pavement, away from the traffic. he gets you new flowers for your favorite vase every week. he holds every car door open for you, pulls out every chair at every restaurant.

he's the perfect gentleman, but if it isn’t hard to be that when someone disrespects you -

it all happens so quick. one second, you feel the unwelcome weight of a stranger's hand grazing your wrist, the heat of his breath far too close as he leans in, a sickly-sweet smile stretching across his face. the next second - he’s gone.

kenyu moves like lightning. one firm hand grips the man’s wrist, twisting it away from you, while the other presses against his chest, shoving him just a little too hard. the shift in the air is undeniable; your quiet, polished boyfriend is gone, replaced by someone just a little colder, a little sharper.

“she’s not interested.” his voice is steady, barely controlled, but there’s an edge to it, something dangerous curling beneath the surface. his eyes, usually so warm, are steel. “walk away. now.”

the man stumbles, eyes flickering between you and kenyu, weighing his options. he chooses correctly - muttering something under his breath before slinking away into the crowd. kenyu watches until he’s out of sight, then exhales, his shoulders relaxing just slightly. he turns to you, and just like that, the sharpness is gone. he reaches for your hand, his touch featherlight, thumb brushing over your knuckles.

“are you alright?” his voice is gentle again, the same soft-spoken kenyu who picks out your favorite flowers and remembers how you take your tea.

and when you nod, when you give him the smallest, grateful smile - he lifts your hand to his lips, pressing the lightest kiss to your skin.

“let’s go home.”

and just like always, kenyu yukimiya, the perfect gentleman, keeps you close - right where you belong.

i love the idea that viggo's issue is that he's always overestimating the dragon riders and that's why he loses. other antagonists always underestimate them, they don't put in all the necessary precautions, which allows the riders to slip through, always throwing parties and gloating before the dragon is in the cage. but viggo?

my man takes so many precautions, his entire island is a war base, and yet, and YET the dragon riders got in by dyeing snotlout's hair blonde, giving him gucci boots and naming him sir ulgertorpe, SIR ULGERTORPE. viggo got catfished by snotlout with blonde hair. he's overestimating them so bad that the IDEA of them "just walking in" doesn't even come to mind. he's ready for fire and death to fall from the sky but a one-legged boy pulling a fast one on him breaks his fancy little english brain.
