Just found an older MSA fic I had been writing a couple years back that I never finished. I decided to try writing more for it again and it's going so well 😎😎 I am so motivated 👹

Also I am working on my punk sun fic but I've slowed down with writing it for a bit but I AM still writing I swear. I have a few chapter prewritten and they keep seeming to get longer. Which is good and bad cause that's more content but that also means more time between posting chapters. I'm also working on more art for it

Whumptober Day 7: Magic with a cost

Content: Magic chills, hurt/comfort, fluff

Lately, Vivi’s been trembling whenever she uses her magic. At first it was a simple shiver, shaking away something cold and bitter from her spine. It was an understandable side effect of her magic, feeling the chill of winter at her back, the cold licking at her fingertips. Any other day, it was refreshing. But now, it was like being trapped within a block of ice — and in a paradoxical way, it had started to burn.

It wouldn’t go away that easily.

She soon brought a thermos of hot tea with her to investigations, drinking it to keep the cold at bay. Then she started wearing a hat and gloves, and then she put on boots. By then, the boys had cornered her with their suspicions, questioning her… extremely inappropriate attire during the hot Texan days.

“Uhh… I’m just… a little cold?” She answers simply. She shudders.

“Vi…” Arthur says, sighing. “You know yyou can… tell us anything.”

Vivi laughs. “Yeah, yeah, of course!” She doesn’t add anything of value afterwards, instead looking away from her friends.

“I- I mean, hell — after everything? Whatever’s going on, we can… handle it.”

Vivi plays with her scarf, listening. “I didn’t want to worry you guys,” she says, groaning. Her breath comes out wispy and cold as she speaks.

“Oh don’t worry, Arthur’s always worried.” Lewis says, putting a hand on Arthur’s shoulder.

“Hh-hey!” He exclaims, lightly elbowing him back. He crosses his arms.  “… True.”

“Vi… you know you can talk to us.”

“I knowWw…” She warbles.

“Just let us take care of you.”

“MMmnM…” She considers it, resting her head against her shoulder, burying her face into her thick, fluffy scarf. “Ookay, fine.”

The boys look so relieved to hear her relent, and Vivi smiles in response, giggling as Lewis lifts her up into his arms, bridal-style.

“L-Lew!”

“What?” He smirks in response.

“Heyy— put me down!” The tone of her voice suggests she’d rather have it any other way — lilting playfully even though it trembles slightly, carrying her shivers.

“I don’t think I can.” He remarks.

“Come on guys… stop being so s-sappy!” Arthur pokes at Lewis.

“Okay, okay — I’ll bring her to the couch.”

Lewis gently sets her onto the cushions, and Arthur pulls the blanket up to her chest for her.

“Aww, you guys—”

Arthur smiles, a soft warm thing. “A-anything for you, Vi.”

Vivi smiles back, letting her eyes close. “Th-thank you.”

Her boys are the best.

I have the weirdest most specific pet peeve that makes it hard to read alot of mystery skulls fanfic.

I HATE the phrase "down an arm" when talking about arthurs arm. I struggle to keep reading fics when I see it and it's everywhere is MSA fics.

And weirdly I almost never see it used in other fandoms with characters with missing limbs.

I dunno it's so weird and dismissive sounding? Especially when it's not arthur using the phrase. Like can you imagine losing a limb and a friend saying youre "down a leg"???

And once you notice the phrase, you see it's EVERYWHERE in msa fics. It's so weird how common it is.

If I could I’d write fanfics for ao3 for my fave polyship lewvithur mystery skulls animated tags but alas my spelling and grammar sucks

And thanks to my adhd brain I’ve not got the energy to stay stuck on just msa ideas

But mystery skulls animated part of ao3 really could do with some new fanfics the last ones that were posted there are from October 2022 and we’re in February 2023 now so it could do with some more fanfitions I think

Well colour me impressed and in aw of the mystery skulls animated can’t have reached this far with one of my art posts without you all favouring and rebloging my msa fanart

((Also we all seem to ship lewvithur as well can’t say I’ve seen many ships like it in any of the other fandoms I draw fanart for over the years most only two characters to a ship and make you choose who to ship but not msa we ship Arthur with both vivi AND Lewis because we’re over love triangles and rather see all 3 happy with each other and mystery… as well as with the deadbeats

But also we don’t get into fights over who ships what; also I’ve seen some very nice ocs for this as well and love what this fandom come up with your making me want to come up with a of as well ))

One of Us Special Announcement! 📣

Last night I went into ao3 and uploaded a bunch of fan artworks that some of my lovely readers have done throughout my time writing this fic. (With their permission ofc) Including a few of my own that I had posted on Tumblr but forgotten to put on ao3. So as you read One of Us, you may be occasionally treated to some fanart by some very talented and amazing people!

...which is also a veeeery common trope in MSA fanfic. Funny how that works out, huh? XD))

6. Are there any fics from others you reread all the time?

I’m not that much of a rereader when it comes to fic, honestly, but I do come back now and again to So, What Was Your Name Again? by Thousand_Springs (adorable pre-dadrius fluff, with Hunter giving Darius’s surname as his own in the human realm and when/how other people notice) and the Eda’s Dark Past series by AllThingsAnime (exploring Eda’s implicit past abusive boyfriends, along with her curse messing with her fertility).

7. How many ideas for fics do you have right now?

…oh dear god. A lot. Uh, one MSA one which is actually partially written, a Twelfth Night thing I probably won’t ever put on Ao3 because Shakespeare fanfic is potentially publishable depending on style, two or three Deltarune ideas, four or five Owl House ideas, one Infinity Train one. And I’m in my final two weeks of undergrad, too, so I have less-than-no free time. Whoops!

18. What’s one of your favorite lines you’ve written in a fic?

oooh you know I’m still really pleased with this bit of keep making trouble til you find what you love when Ryan is thinking about how Min will always be a part of him even if he never sees him again—

“He would be there as a man, as a friend, or as a gaping wound.”

Fhusfi I want to read three different fanfics (one mutual updated their TLT/msa fanfic which in excited about, bestie/parental figure (/silly) updated a ship fic I'm invested in, and I'm working on reading a JotaKak fic I like so far), I wanna work on my one shot fic, and i need to work on school work (algebra)

But. Ughhh my meltdown took me out I'm still exhausted from it and it's been hours 😭

does anyone else come up with silly acronyms for their fanfics that nobody understands? like i never call it by the title. it’s always JES or ACM or DMR, misc 3, ARTL, AMR, YM, MFF, MSF, MTG, MSA, DMA, ATSM, MAF, GUAM, GAM, MM2, JY, JYG, RT, MM, LCL, or HG. i never tell anyone what they mean and i think i probably hurt everyone’s brains talking about it
