World of Warcraft: Hotfixes for January 21, 2025

Attention, World of Warcraft adventurers! Blizzard has released a fresh set of hotfixes to improve gameplay across multiple realms. Here’s a quick breakdown:

🏆 Achievements:

"Trove Tracker" achievement now only requires finding 4 Glowing Arcane Trunks in Nazjatar instead of 8.

🎮 Items & Titles:

The "Witness of the Kirin Tor" title is now available to Horde characters completing the Fate of the Kirin Tor questline.

Fixed a bug that caused issues with the Revered DPS Signet Ring of the Bronze Dragonflight.

🌊 Zone Fixes:

Celestial Barrage will no longer allow flying in Plunderstorm.

Finding the Inky Snapdragon Treat on Siren Isle is now slightly easier—happy hunting!

⚔️ Season of Discovery:

World buffs will now be removed upon login or entering instances.

Divine Steed is now purchasable from the Rune Broker at level 45.

A new multiplayer mobile strategy game set in the world of Avatar, where players work together to defeat a "Barbarian Death Cult that worships an evil spirit set on dominating the world" is coming in 2024

As the title says, a new game has been announced! From Paramount (Avatar Studios' parent company), Tilting Point, and AN Games (no relation to Avatar News lol), a city-building multiplayer mobile game is coming in 2024.

Right now we don't know when the game is set, i.e. when this "Barbarbian Death Cult" is active. The press release (see below) does mention that players will "interact with beloved characters" so it has to be during some known Avatar's lifetime. The artwork provided to us above contains characters from both ATLA and TLOK with a Korra-era background, but I wouldn't read too much into it. Also I just have to say for posterity that the idea of the villains being "barbarians" feels a little off, but we'll have to wait and see!

It's possible that this is the "MMORPG" that was revealed to be planned last year-- it's likely that the "console RPG" in the same post turned out to be Quest for Balance, so it's possible both of those games have now been accounted for.

In my professional opinion, they fucked up by creating Zenos and having him be a villain for three whole expansions, because now it appears on the surface that he's THE bad guy of the franchise.

You are not capturing that again in your storytelling devs. And you can't pull Emet-Selch off twice.

Good luck crafting another long-standing villain that's iconic enough to earn a spot in Dissidia games.

You are so correct YES - I told you this before but Zenos is one of the few characters I knew of before I even started playing ffxiv. And like, I used to be SUPER against picking up this game bc I was dead-set on being a wow-player only and I thought ffxiv looked stupid. ( Oh how wrong I was lol.) BUT!! Zenos!! I knew about him!! I had seen him! I was motivated to try the game because of him. (And to give him credit as well, Emet-Selch.) The villains of ffxiv is like the PULL of the game. So I uh....I ... trust the writers to know what they're doing. And I hope that they're aware of how iconic these characters are.

if this were "do you know this autistic/depressed/etc character" i'd be in trouble but it's not

textually bored out of his mind but also not really adhd about it (which is rare in characters tbh? if a character is textually bored as fuck they're usually hyperactive/impulsive and zenos is just incredibly depressed)

do you like the concept of mmos but you don't like their combat? are guild wars 2, tera, and even black desert online not action gamey enough for you? do you like dmc, bayonetta, and/or kingdom hearts? if you answered yes to any of these questions, then play pso2. it is a free to play mmo with really good combat. like, character action level combat. it comes with both new genesis and classic. classic is a completed mmo and has higher maximum combat speed (luster my beloved) but lower minimum combat speed. it a hub based mmo. new genesis has new graphics and is on a newer engine, is open world, has better balancing between classes, but has much less content and you still kind of have to do your own stuff in it (soloing raid or world bosses, literally just straight up halo forge for player housing, exploring, that kind of thing), but it is getting more combat.

(note for classic, do not touch your mag or your skill tree until you know what you want, go to the phantasy star fleet discord for class guides that will tell you what to do. these need real money to fix if you fuck up. for ngs, you can not fuck up mags and you can reset your skill tree for free, so don't worry there)
