MCL NewGen Ep 11 Commentary

Back at the monthly review! I'll start by saying that I actually enjoyed this ep –except some parts but we'll get there– despite it being extremely expensive. Too much, honestly. Following Jason’s route and picking all the LoM-boosting options without using jokers cost me 2554 AP. I basically had to burn through all my gems 🥲 As always beware of spoilers under the cut~

The episode is basically divided into two parts. The first focuses on planning the event commemorating the artistic anniversary of our dear ol' Violet, while the second revolves around “the date” with our LI. I don’t want to linger too much on the first part because it was way too long and drawn-out, just like in episode 9. There are many parts I would’ve cut. While it’s nice to see old faces from time to time, it feels like they’re leaning too much on the nostalgia effect instead of creating new characters or deepening the ones we already have. I understand they want to focus primarily on the time we spend at work but it often seems like the characters are doing little more than sitting at their desks and pretending to work tbh.

On the bright side tho, I really liked that our colleagues are slowly starting to notice there’s more going on between Candy and Jason. The scene where we meet Jason with Thomas - or any other colleague - was a nice touch. You could sense a bit of jealousy from Thomas also i'm always more convinced that Thomas will be the one to break the news about them to the others at this rate

The whole bet between Candy and Jason is intriguing and fitting, even though it’s starting to feel like that’s all they ever do. But hey that means more Jason screentime and I’m not complaining in the slightest, especially after the drought we went through last ep.

But from this point on I honestly couldn’t make sense of anything anymore lol. Maybe I was overwhelmed by all the Jason content (which was a lot compared to what I'm used to) or it was the fact that I ran out of APs right at this point (not to mention the tons of timers in this ep I had to wait through wtf bv) but the more I played the more my brain turned to mush because what do you mean he decided to shake up the bet by inviting us over to his place?? For dinner???!! Cooking for us??? Paying the food??? WE WERE IN HIS CAR TOO WHAT THE FUCKKK

p.s. his apartment is beautiful I love it it's just how I imagined it to be, modern and sofisticated mmh yes

I admit I wasn't absolutely expecting any of these things but I don't mind it... at all.

It’s ridiculously obvious that this whole bet thing was just an excuse to spend time with Candy but damn I didn’t expect him to make this move that soon. Also I always headcanon Jason as the type of character who struggles with love and can’t easily dive into romantic relationships but apparently that’s not the case because it's pretty clear he's already completely head over heels for her. This could be strictly for work, cause apparently he was impressed by her project and wants her by his side at Goldreamz but I’m sure there’s more to it than that. He knows how he feels, he accepts it, and he wants her to acknowledge it too.

But how does Candy respond to it? By fucking leaving.

Look I was about to rage quit but fortunately the episode ended right after…

Oh boy. I kinda understand Candy—I get what she’s sensing and all the implications that come with it—but come on, you knew this was going to happen. What were you expecting, going out on a date with him? Or even making the bet in the first place? And seriously, after all the effort he put into making dinner for you—at HIS expense I might add—you just leave?!? And all because oh you suddenly remember you’re "enemies"? (which isn’t even true—he literally tells you Devon’s the only one he considers his enemy). She spent the whole episode going on about how she’d honor the bet and then, out of nowhere, she bails because "no, it’s not fair to the others!!11!". Please.

Anyway I love his new sprite, I’ve been waiting to see him with his sleeves rolled up since day one and it did not disappoint hehe. The special scene was super cute and the illus is amazing. I loved how they used the purple palette for the ambiance and lighting yes very good choice

When I read the synopsis for the next episode, I started having flashbacks of repressed trauma ngl. The orienting race was my thirteen reason, I hated that episode so much back in the day why would they ever bring it up again my god. Anyway if that's really the whole premise for the ep I'm v curious in how they're gonna include Mr. J in it - hopefully not like they did in the halloween event ty - and how things between them will play out.

1. Who is your favourite character in 2? Well that one is easy as hell. Lucas Lallemant, without the shadow of a doubt. I just adore that boy... I really do believe that he’s the most developed character of the whole skam universe. Also, i relate to him so so much, being parisian and 17 and queer and just, globally similar. And that Acting (TM) sure helps (will i ever be over axel’s acting? I dont think so)... I am gonna stop before i write essays (you all think this is a joke but i actually write random stuff about Lucas when i get bored in class, thats how bad it is). I just really love this boy folks...

2. Who is your least favourite character in 1? Well that’s an easy one too. Vernon Schillinger, because he is a neonazi, which is enough. And he is just plain BAD (rapist, murderer, coward, blackmailer... you name it)... And it’s not even a love hate situation, i despise the guy so  much, he makes me wanna crawl off my skin whenever he is on screen. Also i think he’s quite one dimensional which is very weird for that show but yeah. He is The Bad Guy.

3. What is your favourite episode of 4? Well that’s a harder one lmao, because you know, the show has been going on since 1963, which means i have many many favourites... Imma go only with reboot, cause thats the one i know better and i have to say it’s the one i enjoy the most. I think my all time fave is the two parts one, The Empty Child and The Doctor Dances, because those are just so perfect in every aspect imo. But i also love love love the library arc from season 4 (i think lmao) because KUDOS FOR MAKING US INSENSITIVE ABOUT A CHARACTER’S DEATH ONLY FOT IT TO KILL US LATER (and overall the episodes are so so good). Also, because i’m a hoe for big dramatic moments, the episodes with the Master (end of s3 and end of s4 mainly, i dont really like Missy) and the two parts The Stolen Earth/Journey’s end (i remember being so hyped by all of them squading up). Also, it’s not an episode but it deserves its place there: the entire season 6. Because Matt Smith, Karen Gillan, Alex Kingston and Arthur Darvill are just so good. I didnt really enjoy seasons 8 to 10 (even tho i adore Peter Capaldi), but season 7 also has some that i loved (Angels in Manhattan and The Name of the Doctor killed me). And the 50th anniversary. I MEAN THIS IS COMPLICATE I LOVE THIS SHOW SO MUCH IT HAS SO MANY GOOD EPISODES (and it’s the first show i got obsessed with so theres that)

4. What is your favourite season of 5? I think i’ll go with season 2 (?), because i love the og squad and they were all in it in s2, and i think the arcs were done really well (and the last episode, haha, me dead)... S3 and 4 i enjoyed less cause i think the teams didn’t really work without Tosh, Owen and Ianto... I couldn’t really find that magic again (and yes i’m still bitter). 

5. Who is your favourite couple in 3? It’s hard to find ALIVE people to form couples with lmao so i’ll go with one that is in kinda stand-by... it’s complicate...  Rick and Michonne cause i loved how they were best friends first and how their whole story was built... It made a lot of sense to me. Also i love the show less nowadays but i think those are still strong characters (minus Rick now lol)

6. Who is your favourite couple in 2? I had to snort. I know, it’s going to surprise you all, but it’s Manon and Charles OF COURSE. Kidding (pls. break. them. up). It’s Eliott and Lucas (how many of you all are surprised) because. Do i need to explain. Just. Everything. I can’t even put it into words. they’re just a perfect match and so in tune and so in love and i should stop now but i won’t so i’m sorry. I love how they complete each other and understand each other, and i loved how Lucas made Eliott’s dream real (polaris), and i love how they arent perfect yet they learn with each other and they make each other better . I love how cute they look and how in love and how raw. I love the way Lucas’ voice softens when he talks to eliott, and the way eliott’s eyes are so full of wonder. Also the way they fight sometimes but always come back to each other and love stronger. And their ship names literally means “chosen one”, how could I not ship? LISTEN THEY JUST FIT OKAY AND I WONT TAKE ANY CRITICISM

7. What is your favourite episode of 1? oh god i don’t remember them all at all lmao but imma try to come up with one (not 22838 like i normally do). So i’d say 4x11 (revenge is sweet)?? but honestly the show is so continuous that its hard to choose one ep... id say s4 is my favourite hands down though

8. What is your favourite episode of 5? YES THAT I CAN!! it’s from season 1, even though i love s2 better overall, Countrycide. I loved everything about that ep, and it still sends shivers down my spine when i think about it. I particularly enjoyed how it depicted the team’s relationships and how it showed that monsters can be amongst mankind (which, we been knew, but still. it was very well done for a show that fights aliens to fight humans)

9. What is your favourite season of 2? Another easy one! Season 3, as my entire blog can attest. It’s just. A masterpiece. That’s it that’s the post.

10. How long have you watched 1? I bingewatched it in like two months (cause i had to take breaks because school) in 2016. It’s a show that ended around 2000 so it’s not like i HAD to wait, and the episodes aren’t really stand alone so i had to watch them in a row.

11. How did you become interested in 3? I started watching with my dad because he is a cinephile that shows me loads of movies and tv series, then showed it to my mom. And now my dad stopped watching so i watch it with my mom exclusively even though i dont enjoy as much as i used to (still love it though). 

12. Who is your favourite actor in 4? Matt Smith (even though i adored Eccleston, and couldn’t appreciate Tennant’s AMAZINGNESS cause i was too sad to see 9 go aoimjdk). But Matt Smith is the funniest, most Doctor-ish one imo.

13. Which do you prefer, 1, 2, or 5? This is gonna sound like a betrayal to shows i’ve watched for so many years but Skam France, hands down. (i’m obsessed okay)

14. Which show have you seen more episodes of, 1 or 3? 3 because it has more eps and i’m caught up with both, so logically its 3.

15. If you could be anyone from 4, who would you be? Umh i think i’m kinda similar to Clara in some ways (?). Maybe. Like in the way we’re both hopeless romantic in search of an adventurous life. Plus, she is a lgbt+ icon and you can’t convince me otherwise so there’s that. i mean i think i globally identify with companions cause i wanna be them so bad lmao (imagine how cool it would be for my nerdy self ugh). But i look like a Sontaran so. Mayhaps i’d be one of those instead

16. Would a crossover between 3 and 4 work? umh that’d be funny as hell. The Doctor just jumping in a zombie apocalypse. Though i think they’d find a way to stop the apocalypse, so the second show would be annihilated by the first one. Mmh. Interesting still, up for it (i’m up for anything tbh)

17. Pair two characters in 1 who would make an unlikely but strangely okay couple? That’s the hardest one i had to answer GOD. I’d go with the crack ship, Ryan O’Reilly and Miguel Alvarez, tho they would both kill me and then burn my body if they ever saw this

18. Overall, which show has the better storyline, 3 or 5? Weeeelll i think The Walking Dead used to have an amazing storyline (the Governor’s arc was spectacular), but now i’d go with Torchwood cause sometimes (a lot of times), shows that don’t try to make it last for ages tie everything better. And Torchwood did tie things well enough imo (even tho i’m forever sad and bitter)

19. Which has the better theme music, 2 or 4? I don’ think Skam France has a theme music?? more like soundtracks (amazing ones)??? But i mean even if it did Doctor Who would still win cause the themes are fantastic (yes i went there)

I took notes with a pencil on paper like the old-fashioned person that I am. Also I binge watched all 13 eps without any breaks so my thoughts might be a bit all over the place. But, let me try to organize them a little bit.

it felt too rushed. like why make all of that happen in the first episode and then forget all about it for a few??!

it was too soon, like i didn’t really think it would happen? they should have had a little more waiting time before going all oooh allura totes said yes to a date with lance, like where did that come from??

allura has been paired with a lot of the male characters throughout the seasons, and I HATE THAT

let her be a strong female character without a love interest goddammit

yeah that is actually my main problem with allurance. like, wasn’t she just kissing lotor a while ago? and then she had her moments with keith? and first was shiro in the very first season i could tell they were thinking of making it a thing

that first kiss was so ugh i actually gagged too much romantic for me

that was not a grammatically correct sentence i am sorry i am an english major but it is just past midnight

i get that this show is aimed for a younger audience, but show some connection between the couple before they become a couple and after??

iiiii’m not sure how i feel about her still being alive and being this season’s main villain

honerva having guardians to protect her thoughts and memories reminded me of inception in some way

i liked the old paladins being there? it felt appropriate

En Ecuador busca desarrollar el yacimiento Llurimagua, en alianza con la firma estatal ecuatoriana Enami; en Brasil está concentrada en dos prospectos en el estado de Pará, y, en etapa exploratoria, se han acercado a las autoridades de Mongolia para ver en terreno posibles opciones en la zona llamada Gobi Sur.

Con este tentempié fue recibida en abril pasado una delegación de Codelco, encabezada por su presidente ejecutivo, Nelson Pizarro, en una visita a Oyu Tolgoi, la mayor mina de Mongolia y uno de los más grandes yacimientos cupríferos del mundo. José Pesce, vicepresidente de Recursos Mineros y Desarrollo de la estatal, aterriza: “En el largo plazo, si queremos mantener a Codelco como líder mundial en términos de producción de cobre, evidentemente tenemos que estar en el extranjero (….) Si nos concentramos solo en Chile, las probabilidades de tener los recursos que permitan mantener el nivel de producción que tenemos hoy día o aumentarlo son menores que si salimos afuera”, sostiene.

El alto ejecutivo de la corporación explica que las operaciones actuales de Codelco (Chuquicamata, Radomiro Tomic, Gaby, MMH, El Salvador, Andina y El Teniente) se sitúan en una macrozona denominada “metalotéctico andino”, que va desde Chile, pasa por Perú y termina al norte de Ecuador. “En esta zona hay condiciones geológicas para encontrar grandes yacimientos, y por eso partimos por allí”, acota. De hecho, la exploración más avanzada para la estatal está en Ecuador.

Codelco tiene un presupuesto de exploración total de US$ 200 millones para 2017 y 2020.

Explotar el yacimiento Llurimagua

En dicho país, la firma estatal planea constituir este año una compañía minera en alianza con la empresa pública ecuatoriana Enami, para desarrollar juntos el yacimiento Llurimagua, ubicado en la provincia de Imbabura, a unos 80 kilómetros de Iquitos (Perú), en el cual invertirán este año US$ 40 millones.

“El acuerdo es que Codelco sea el operador, pero desde el punto de vista de cómo se va a estructurar la empresa (en participaciones accionarias), eso está aún en conversaciones ahora”, señala el vicepresidente de Recursos Mineros de Codelco.

Pesce explica que tras detectar este yacimiento y cuantificar sus recursos mineros en 1.500 millones de toneladas, con una ley de 0,51% -considerada alta dentro de la minería-, decidieron seguir adelante para precisar la información geológica, definir el método de explotación, la metalurgia y el potencial econ��mico.

En todo caso, considerando la información ya existente, Llurimagua tendría la envergadura de una faena como Cerro Colorado, de BHP, en Tarapacá.

Codelco ingresó a Ecuador en 2008. Primero a través de un acuerdo entre los gobiernos, que permitió a Codelco explorar en algunas áreas. El país andino posteriormente creó la Empresa Nacional de Minería, Enami EP, con quien hoy Codelco quiere desarrollar el yacimiento Llurimagua.

La razón principal para llegar al país andino es que si bien este tenía una gran similitud geológica con Chile, era mucho menos explorado. “Cuando entramos, en 2008, Ecuador tenía menos del 10% de su territorio con alguna exploración geológica; al revés de Chile, que lo tenemos explorado casi entero”, señala.

Brasil: prospectos en el estado de Pará

Codelco do Brasil es la filial de la estatal en el gigante sudamericano. Creada hace más de una década, la firma opera preferentemente en el estado de Pará, en el nordeste. En esta zona, Codelco realizó varios hallazgos geológicos, pero que por razones de escala, porque eran muy pequeños, o mineralógicas, pues no contenían cobre, se desprendió de cuatro de ellos.

Hoy la estatal está concentrada en dos prospectos: Tancredo y Libertade. “Estamos en una etapa de exploración muy básica, y nuestra idea es tener una operación geológica fundada”, explica Pesce. En Brasil, la estatal busca yacimientos IOSG, de fierro, cobre y oro.

Mongolia: alianza con estatal Erdenes Mongol

Hace dos meses viajó a Mongolia una delegación de Codelco, encabezada por el presidente ejecutivo Nelson Pizarro, e integrada también por José Pesce; por el vicepresidente de Operaciones Centro-Sur, Octavio Araneda, y por el vicepresidente de proyectos, Gerhard von Borries. La misión fue buscar una alianza que permitiera a Codelco operar en el largo plazo en suelo mongol.

El interés en dicha zona asiática se sustenta en que la zona denominada Gobi Sur es una de las más ricas en cobre en el mundo. Ahí está, por ejemplo, el yacimiento Oyu Tolgoi, en la zona de Khanbogd. Esta es una faena de rajo abierto que tendrá una operación subterránea en el breve plazo. Actualmente es controlada por Río Tinto, con participación del gobierno de Mongolia.

La delegación de Codelco fue a visitar la faena Oyu Tolgoi -la mayor inversión minera en la historia de Mongolia-, y fueron recibidos por el ministro de Minería e Industria Pesada del país asiático, Dashding Tsedev.

Visitaron el yacimiento, suscribieron una alianza técnica con la firma estatal Erdenes Mongol para intercambiar información, y el objetivo fue tomar conocimiento técnico y acercarse al país asiático para entender el modelo de negocios que podría darse en esa región.
