YALL I just found out Emilia Pérez 's director only went to México like 3 or 4 times and then he said shooting the movie in Mexico would be "too limited for his view" WHAT. THE. FUCK. this is such blatant disrespect for Mexicans if I were the Mexican government I would tell them to go fuck themselves or smt
By the way pls watch this short film in which Mexicans make fun of France, it has stereotypes, all Mexican actors and it was shoot in Mexico. It must be so much fun to have your country represented so accurately. :)
youtube
Oh and ALSO Emilia Pérez it rated at 2,2 on letterbox as I post this, while Johanne Sacreblue is rated at 4,6
I wonder why a movie made by a colonizer country about a colonized country is getting itself involve in so much polemic while a movie made by a colonized country about that same country is getting more and more good attention, specially from COLONIZED COUNTRIES
it is TRULY a M I S T E R Y why a movie about Mexico not made by Mexicans or for them OR even in which Mexicans participate heavily is a huge flop all the while a Brazilian movie made by and for Brazilians is being celebrated.
Emilia Pérez is not about colonized countries, Latino countries, or our struggles. It's about putting Europe and the US on the spotlight while saying you're giving voice to Latin countries. We won't have it.
Oh and BY THE WAY I'm Still Here is about the Brazilian dictatorship which was funded and support by the United States. If we win thats a win for every country that's belittled, left out and talked less. A win for countries that were and continue to be colonized by the US and Europe. Fuck you guys and your shit ass movies.
