An open letter to the President & U.S. Congress
Defend democracy against Project 2025's authoritarian agenda
57 so far! Help us get to 100 signers!
Project 2025 poses a grave threat to our democratic institutions and civil liberties. This extreme right-wing agenda seeks to consolidate power for Trump and his allies, undermining the vital system of checks and balances that safeguards our republic. We cannot stand by as they attempt to dismantle LGBTQ+ rights, reproductive freedom, and constitutional protections for minority communities. Congress must take decisive action to uphold the rule of law and defend our democracy from authoritarian forces hellbent on seizing control. Every member of Congress has a solemn duty to resist this destructive agenda at every turn through legislation, oversight, and the confirmation process. The future of our nation depends on your courage and commitment to preserving our democratic principles and human rights for all Americans.

An open letter to the U.S. Senate
Don’t confirm Pete Hegseth as Secretary of Defense
48 so far! Help us get to 50 signers!
The choice of Pete Hegseth, a Fox News host and Army veteran, as the next secretary of defense is concerning given the significant responsibilities and experience typically required for this critical role overseeing the U.S. military. While Hegseth served in Afghanistan and Iraq, he lacks the high-level command experience and strategic leadership background that is customary for this cabinet position. Previous secretaries of defense have held high military ranks and garnered extensive operational and policy expertise over decades of service. Ensuring strong and seasoned leadership atop the Department of Defense is paramount for maintaining military readiness, supporting servicemembers and their families, and promoting America's security interests around the world. The cabinet nomination process exists to thoroughly vet candidates' qualifications. I urge careful scrutiny and deliberation on whether Hegseth's record merits confirmation to this uniquely consequential position in charge of our nation's defense enterprise and global force posture. Our women and men in uniform deserve a secretary whose credentials and capabilities are commensurate with the immense duties of this office.
