“You’re biting your nails again, Fushiguro.”
“What?” He takes a split second to register your words before letting the hand near his mouth dig back into his pocket, “Uh, sorry.”
“I like seeing you nervous,” you admit, barely audible beneath the wave of applause coming from the auditorium.
He sighs at the noise, placing a long finger near his ear, waiting for you to repeat yourself.
“I said ‘Good luck with your performance’!” You smile bashfully, nudging at the door where the stage manager waves frantically at Megumi.
He nods at the man, kneeling down to run gentle fingers on the clasps of the violin case to undo them, taking out the instrument before following the stage manager out of the waiting area.
Even though you have a seat reserved in one of the spaces prearranged for friends and family, you watch him through the crack of the stage door, listening to the other soloists groan as soon as Megumi swings his bow onto the strings.
"It's precise," a light-haired boy says, resting his arms on his own violin case, "but emotionless."
You feel your face grow red; the perfect sounds tickling your ears are nothing but pure feeling.
"Quiet, Naoya." An older man beside him chides, tugging at his thick English-style mustache. "If you listen, you might understand why your ass fits so well in the second place."
-
Megumi's quiet all the way to the train station. He finds a seat on a bench in a secluded corner, scooting to the side to make room for you.
"First place again, huh, Fushiguro?" You elbow him, trying to interrupt his pensive state.
He only utters a small Mh-hmm, watching another full train depart from the platform, clutching at the violin case resting on his leg.
"You should be happy, Megumi."
"It wasn't perfect," he mutters.
"It was perfect, you should have heard Nayoa's whines as soon as you started playing!" you beam, hoping it would improve his mood, but he just stares off into the space between the bench and the platform.
The train ride felt long, and his legs grew weary of standing pressed against a crowd of people - but despite living a far way from where your station was, Megumi stepped out together with you, like he always did, just to walk you home.
"Why did you say you liked seeing me nervous?" He finally utters when you cross the bridge exiting the station.
"I thought you didn't hear that," you mumble, trying to swallow to relieve the dryness forming in your throat, "I guess it just makes you look more, uh - human?"
"You're saying I don't look human?" He furrows his brows, coming to a halt behind you.
"I don't mean it like that," you turn to face him, watching his features under the yellow light of the street lamp, "You just look so rigid all the time that I -," you lift your arm to press two fingers to the bridge of his nose, smoothing out the wrinkles formed there by his expression, "I like to be reminded that you have feelings, too."
"I have feelings, y'know." He says, a blush creeping on his cheeks.
"I know, I just said you do!"
You walk the rest of the way home in silence, secretly scolding yourself for saying something so brazen. You smile at him when you reach your doorstep, delivering a quick 'See you tomorrow' before stepping inside.
Megumi takes the long route to his house, repeating the same phrase over and over; "I have feelings for you (Name)," he utters silently into the air, "Just tell her dumbass, it isn't that hard."

Chapter 28 of Roneo and Kimliet
Chapter 28
(Feb 15, 2006, 4:30pm)
Kim was holding her script when she approached the small auditorium that housed the drama productions...despite the critters living there and that they were going to go to the main auditorium to do the actual live performance.
"Okay, Possible, you got this in the bag! You're going out there and conquer scenes four and five!"
She entered through the prop doors and saw almost everyone else there...that is, except for one person. Also, a familiar professor was in the crowd with a MHS visitor's badge on but Kim didn't see her at first.
"Hey, Mr. Barkin. Have you seen Ron?" Kim asked with worry for her best friend.
"How am I supposed to know, Possible?" Barkin replied in his usual gruff manner, "I am not his personal secretary! Besides, we cannot start the play without half of the title character!"
"You're also beginning to try our patience!" Cara growled at Kim.
"Can you can it, Cara?" Kim countered angrily, "Ron will be here..." before she trailed off, "...I hope."
_ (5 minutes later)
Ron finally made it into the auditorium...although his hair, and his clothes, got doused with blueberry slush.
"I finally made it!" he exclaimed, holding his partially drenched script. Thankfully, it only got on the cover and not on the pages.
"Ron!" Kim exclaimed, rushing up to his side "What happened?"
"One of the football players gave me a slurpster facial." Ron moaned, "I commented on how his varsity jacket had a loose thread and he didn't take it well."
"I am amazed that the MUSD never recognized them as implements of bullying..." Kim muttered while giving Ron a towel, "Then again, the board is run by Veronica Rockwaller..."
Bonnie and the Mean Cheers, as well as many other members of Middleton High's athletic teams, especially the football team, were known for carrying King-Sized Slurpsters around the school. Just the mere sight of those Slurpsters would cause other MHS students, especially those students that belonged to some of the less popular clubs, to cower in fear. Very often, they brought along rain jackets and ponchos to try and protect their articles of clothing from the stains of the high-sugar content. And with Veronica often ruling that the board do not recognize them as bullying tools, this gave the brunette and her co-horts free reign to carry them around.
"Yeah, it's totally lousy, KP!" Ron agreed while wiping the slush from his face with the towel. "But I am here at least."
"And you get deducted by a point for being late, Stoppable!" Barkin said while taking his infamous red pen. "Remember that it will reflect your final grade for the course!"
Vance also chimed in, "Stoppable, stop being a slacker!"
"Well..." Ron countered, "...you can't slack as well as I can!"
"Can we please get to the final two scenes?" Barkin interrupted, "We only got an hour and a half before the board closes up the school for tonight."
Vance clapped his hands and said to the other students.
"Okay, places, everyone! Stoppable, I want you, Renton and Custer to get into position for Scene 4! We are going to do the party backdrop!" Vance exclaimed.
Ron, Felix and Arnie all moved to the left side of the stage. Felix and Milo Kamalani were in the roles of Benvolio and Mercuito, respectively. They also had their scripts.
"Is everything set, assistant director?" Vance asked to Ashley A. Since the desk she was in had a hole in the front, she got out her video camera from her backpack and put the lens of the camera in front of the hole.
Ashley A gave a thumbs up and replied, "Everything's perfect!"
"And...action!" Vance exclaimed.
Ron was the first to come on the stage followed with Felix and Milo.
He said the first line of the scene.
"What will we say is our excuse for being here? Or shoud we enter without apologizing?"
"It's out of fashion to give lengthy explanations like that." Felix replied, "We're not going to introduce our dance by having someone dress up as Cupid blindfolded and carrying a toy bow to frighten the ladies like a scarecrow. Nor are we going to recite a memorized speech to introduce ourselves."
He continued, "Let them judge us however they please. We'll give them a dance and then hit the road."
Ron sighed, "I don't want to dance!"
Then Milo came in, saying his first lines as Mercuito.
"No, noble Romeo, you've got to dance!" Milo said.
"Not me, believe me. You're wearing dancing shoes with nimble soles. My soul is made out of lead, and it's so heavy it keeps me stuck to the ground so I can't move!"
Milo replied enthusiastically, "You're a lover! Take Cupid's wings and fly higher than the average man!"
"His arrow has pierced me too deeply, so I can't fly high with his cheerful feathers." Ron replied. "Because this wound keeps me down! I can't leap any higher than my dull sadness. I sink under the heavy weight of love."
"It's not right to drag down something as tender as love!" Milo replied.
"Is love really tender? I think it's too rough, too rude, too rowdy and it pricks like a thorn." Ron wondered.
"If love plays rough with you, play rough with love!" Milo exclaimed from the script. "If you prick love where it pricks you, you'll beat love down."
Milo then spotted three masks on the table.
"Give me a mask to put my face in!"
Ron gave him the mask on the right.
"A mask to put over my other mask." Milo continued while holding the mask in one hand and his script in the other. "What do I care if some curious person sees my flaws?"
While Scene 4 was going on, Amanda was curious at how Ron composed himself after he split his pants yesterday from the first three scenes.
She then sent a text to Bonnie.
B,
I think we may need to sabotage Stoppable. He's getting too good out there on the stage. And a single slurpster hardly did any damage to his script.
A
Back on the stage, Milo continued his lines.
"Let this mask, with its black eyebrows, blush for me!"
Felix then replied, "Come, let's knock and go in. The minute we get in, let's all start dancing."
Ron replied to Felix "We mean well by going to this masked ball, but it's not smart of us to go."
"And why, may I ask?" Milo questioned.
"I had a dream last night." Ron said.
Arnie countered, "So did I!"
"What was your dream?" Ron asked.
"My dream told me that dreamers often lie." Milo replied.
"They lie in bed while they dream of the truth!" Ron said.
"Oh, then I see that Queen Mab has visited you!" Milo countered.
"Queen Mab?" Felix questioned, "Who's she?"
"She's the fairies' midwife, and is no bigger than the stone on the ring of a city councilman. She rides her carriage, which is pulled by tiny little creatures, over men's noses as they lie sleeping. The wheel spokes of her carriage are made of spiders' legs; its cover is made of grasshopper wings; and its harnesses are made of the smallest spiderwebs. The horse collars are made from moonbeams, while her whip is a single cobweb attached to a cricket bone. Her wagon driver is a tiny gnat wearing a gray coat that is not even half as..."
However, Milo then saw that his lengthy lines were cut off. But seeing how any protest of the cut objectionable content and cut lines to extend the mandated two-hour timeframe was squished by Barkin yesterday and that the threat of Veronica Rockwaller was present, he didn't say a word and allowed Ron to say his lines.
"Calm down, calm down! Mercuito be quiet. You're talking about nonsense."
"True." Milo said, "I'm talking about dreams, which are the products of a brain that's doing nothing. Dreams are nothing but silly imagination as thin as air and less predictible than the wind, which sometimes blows on the frozen north and then gets angry and blows south."
"The wind you're talking about is blowing us off our course." Felix replied, "Dinner is over, and we're going to be late getting there."
Both Arnie and Felix left the right side of the stage, giving Ron a chance to say his monologue before the scene was over.
"I'm worried we'll get there too early, I have a feeling this party tonight will be the start of something bad, something that will end with my own death! But whoever's in charge of where my life's going can steer me wherever they want. Onward, lover boys!"
The entirety of the scene lasted only five minutes. But Kim was clenching her script tight, knowing that she has to kiss her best friend twice in a span of 20 seconds. She couldn't get over the fact that this boy, whom was stuck in a tree costume for an hour in the bathroom and it had to take the Middleton Fire Dept. to get him out of it and whom suffered from the Cowardly Lion incident last year, was dominating with Felix on the stage.
It's only a play, Possible. It's only a play.

Yumemi trying to brag about Saori and Kirari keeps one-upping her with Sayaka. And/or Saori is bragging about Yumemi and Sayaka keeps one-upping with Kirari.
Let's see: did I get the reference right?
It was almost time for her usual afternoon tea when Kirari realized just how much meaning faces carry.
Take the eyebrows for starters. Notice how the thicker they are, the more their owner will have a rougher character. Some lips speak of affectedness; some eyes tend to glaze over, proof of a general disinterest for life and its sharers. Take a face, any face, and see just how much of the person you can read in it.
Kirari was pondering over all of this as Yumemi stood before her desk, waiting for her to sign the formal request for her Saint Valentine’s Super Duper Happy Concert.
For once, Yumemite looked sincerely joyful. Not like a professional idol but… more like a person. A real one. Yumemi’s mouth had lost that ability to bend — cramping up, rather than smiling — that made it so obvious that she faked through the greatest part of her days.
Kirari glanced at her. “It appears that something awfully good happened to you, Yumemi,” she remarked, hiding her curiosity.
“Do I? Aw.”
Kirari smiled as Yumemi set up one of her usual shows. A mixture of coyness and blackboard-grating squeaks: that’s a high-school idol for you.
“You never change, President, you just saw through me! You see” — Yumemi cleared her throat, perhaps to get the high-pitched voice right — “I really, really didn’t expect to be able to hold this concert in time. I don’t know what Saori did, but she managed to get everything ready with a whole week of advance!” Yumemi clapped her hands, giggling. “Not even Miss Igarashi was able to keep up. Ooh, my fans will be so glad!”
Kirari raised her brow. “I’m sure they will,” she said, “after all, Sayaka did ensure that the auditorium would be able to safely house all of them. She double-checked with both the security and your manager. Certainly, Saori mentioned that?”
“Mmh.” Yumemi brought a finger to her lips, thinking. Speaking of faces: the arrogance in Yumemi’s sharpened the smile on Kirari’s lips. “I don’t think so! Saori talked with the sponsors and the YourTube broadcasting crew — and she prepared the refreshments for everyone. That’s just how she is.” Yumemi giggled. “She’s a one-woman army!”
“Is she?” Kirari smiled, crossing her legs under her desk. “I suppose that being a manager to such a popular idol must be tough. I wonder how she would handle being a Secretary.” As she spoke, Kirari left another fluttering signature on Yumemite’s request. “Sayaka took up to it wonderfully. In six months she was already handling half of my duties. It’s been a while since our middle school saw a talented person like her.”
“You’re right! We should be so proud of our middle school!” Yumemite giggled in her palm. Kirari had no doubts she was hiding a grin. “Before graduating, Saori was already juggling between my interviews, my training sessions, and my very first recordings. And yet! She still managed to be among the top students in our class. She was just that special.”
“Indeed, indeed.” Kirari nodded to herself and turned the page. “In the rankings she was… Mh. What position was she again?” Kirari brought a hand to her chin. “It wasn’t close to the top, or else I’d remember seeing her name right below Sayaka’s.”
A muscle jumped in Yumemite’s jaw. Kirari observed with interest — and not a small deal of satisfaction — that subtle change.
“Aw, but President! Of course you didn’t!” Yumemi smiled, her teeth glimmering sinister in the lights of the aquariums. “Saori was too busy to study! It’s not like she was a shut-in with no friends and nothing to do. Her hands were already full as they were with me. And indeed: they’re only getting fuller.”
Yumemi crossed her arms. Eyebrows, mouth, eyes: had she been less smug, perhaps Kirari wouldn’t have understood what she was saying. But then: Yumemi wouldn’t have let herself look half as pleased upon realizing that her innuendo had come through.
Checkmate, she must’ve thought. Manager in A6.
Kirari set down her pen. She smiled. “I suppose you’re right,” she said as she reached for the first button of her shirt. “Being an idol does come with its burdens. It’s admirable of Saori to help you shoulder them.”
As she said so, Kirari unbuttoned her shirt just enough to show an inch of her neck. She made it look as if it was a mere matter of discomfort, as if her braids had been bothering her too: as she brushed a lock of hair behind her ear, a long, red line came into view on the candid skin.
Yumemi watched, with complacency first, with obtuseness then, as she recognized the knots of a rope in the fading marks.
“Good luck with the concert then.” Kirari’s throat disappeared as quickly as she had shown it. She pushed the request on the desk for Yumemi to take, signaling the end of the meeting. "Thank you for passing by, Yumemi. It was nice talking to you.”
Yumemi frowned as she took the documents. Watching her leave, Kirari was massaging her wrists under the embroidered cuffs of her shirt.
Saori was waiting right outside of the lounge. “What happened?” she asked as soon as Yumemi closed the door behind her.
“Nothing. Nothing happened.” Yumemi was still frowning. “Saori?”
“Y-Yes?”
“Make a note to go buy a collar later.”
“A collar?” Saori blinked. As Yumemi went on, she hurried after her, repeating, “A collar? But I thought you hated dogs.”
Yumemi glowered as she turned the corner. She bit into her thumb: the idol façade crumbled around her.
“You’ll see,” she muttered.

Prompt - RJ - “Are you okay?” / “Why do you ask?” / “You’re wearing two different shoes.”
Hi anon! Here’s my ficlet for this prompt. ❤️
EJ walks into school on Monday morning and the first thing he notices is that Ricky’s slumped against his locker, squinting as he lazily inserts the combination. He studies him for a beat too long, before he remembers that he’s late, and he should be running to class. Nonetheless, he adjusts the straps of his bag and walks over. Ricky and he are friends now, aren’t they?
“Morning,” he greets him, exactly as he would do with anyone else. “Running late?”
Ricky slowly lifts his head towards him, like a robot that’s taking too long to catch the command from the remote control.
“Uh?” He bats his eyes - they look tired, and EJ takes in his overall look. He looks like someone who hasn’t slept in days. “Oh, hey.”
“Are you okay, Ricky?” He feels compelled to ask.
“Spectacular,” even in his evidently sleep-deprived form, Ricky manages to find the energy to be sarcastic. “Why do you ask?”
You look dead on your feet, EJ thinks, but instead chooses to point his finger downwards.
“You’re wearing two different shoes.” He says “And you’ve got the same hoodie as yesterday.”
He wants to take those words back as soon as he spoke them because it’s one thing to notice that Ricky’s Vans don’t match, but why would EJ remember his outfit from the previous day?
Because you notice an awful lot of things about Ricky, lately.
He does. He doesn’t know when it started, but EJ always spots Ricky in a crowd. He knows the class he’s headed to because he’s checked the books he carries around. He knows if he’s fallen from his skateboard on the road to school because he always frowns in a certain way when he does.
“Shit,” Ricky murmurs, checking his shoes. His shoulders slump and he bangs his locker closed; he looks sad and angry and tired and EJ’s chest tightens with the urge to do something to make him feel better. Ricky looks pointedly at him and EJ steps to the side. His eyes follow Ricky as he drags his feet along the corridor; he lingers for a moment, fighting against the urge to go with him just to make sure he doesn’t collapse before he’s reached the Maths classroom, then shakes his head.
He doesn’t see Ricky at lunch, but he keeps thinking about him; he doesn’t want to admit to himself that he’s starting to worry about him, but he uses the free period he has to look for him anyway. He finally finds him, in the auditorium: he’s backstage, half-hidden behind two boxes of old costumes. He’s sitting on the floor with his back reclined against a pile of cushions they sometimes use during drama club meetings and barely looks up when EJ carefully approaches him.
“Ricky?”
“That’s my name,” the junior tiredly replies. “Don’t overuse it.”
EJ studies the way he’s half sitting on the floor, holding his backpack against his chest. He decides not to ask what he’s doing, because it’s pretty obvious that he must be trying to sleep. Why he’s doing it in the school auditorium and not at his home is the million-dollar question.
“Can I sit?” He gingerly asks, gesturing to the space beside Ricky.
“Be my guest,” the corner of Ricky’s mouth twitches, but he hugs his backpack more tightly.
“It’s pretty comfortable,” EJ notes, settling against the pillows. “I might even fall asleep here.”
Ricky shoots him an unimpressed glance - then again, EJ’s never claimed to be particularly good at subtlety.
“Lucky you,” the junior shoots back. “I can’t.”
“You’ve been trying, though?” EJ doesn’t think there’s anything wrong with asking. He’s not great at supporting people when they need to talk about their problems, but Ricky’s blood-shot eyes are basically a cry for help, and he’s not gonna ignore it.
“Yeah. I haven’t… I haven’t been sleeping well at home lately.” Ricky ends up confessing, without looking at him.
“Oh. Why not?” EJ asks.
“Don’t wanna talk about it.” Ricky shakes his head, and he sounds so tired and sad that EJ wants to give him a hug. But he doesn’t think they’re there, yet.
“Okay. Why’d you come here then?” He tries.
“Dunno.” Ricky shrugs “I usually feel pretty safe here. But it’s a bit eerie when it’s so empty.”
EJ studies the way his fingers are fidgeting with the straps of his backpack, pondering his words. So Ricky is looking for a place where he feels safe enough to put his guard down and fall asleep, and it appears that his own home isn’t giving him that kind of security.
“I kinda like it. It’s a good place to think.” EJ blabbers instinctively, trying to keep himself from inquiring further. He knows what it feels like to have home problems, and as much as he thinks Ricky must have a lot to unpack, he also gets why he doesn’t feel like doing it now.
“Mh-mh.” Ricky mumbles. EJ’s pretty sure his body has shifted closer to his own, and the junior’s head lingers dangerously close to his shoulder.
“What, you don’t think I have stuff to think about? I’m more than a pretty face with thousands of Instagram followers, Ricky.” He says, feeling a surge of heat around his neck. Ricky’s curls tickle under his ear.
“Yeah. Your voice is very relaxing.” His voice is dragging now, and when EJ sneaks a sideways glance he realizes Ricky’s closed his eyes. He keeps talking in a low voice, saying the first things that come to his mind.
“I know. I always like to listen to the vocal messages I send to people again. You know how everyone says their voice sounds weird when it’s recorded? Well, call me self-absorbed, but I think my voice sounds great.”
The corners of Ricky’s lips shoot upwards for a second, but then he’s abandoned his head against EJ’s shoulder and his breath starts coming out evenly, his backpack rising and falling slowly from where Ricky’s holding it against his chest. Ricky’s eyelashes are long, almost touching the skin of his cheekbones, and his mouth parts slightly.
He’s finally fast asleep.
EJ reclines his own head against the cushions, smiling to the ceiling. There’s a new kind of warmth pooling at the bottom of his belly when he looks at Ricky, but the auditorium is empty, and no one has to know.

Thank’s for reading! If you’d like to drop a prompt, here’s more info on what I like to write.

Chapter 6 of A Rockwaller Christmas Carol
Chapter 6 - The First of the Three Spirits - Part IV
The Spirit Monique again snapped her fingers and the auditorium flashed right before her eyes.
The two then reappeared at Middleton High.
"We're in the same place, Spirit." Bonnie remarked.
"Yep, but now, it's 2005, girl! Your junior year!" the Spirit Monique said. "A couple of weeks before Christmas to be exact. "Let us go to the cheerleading locker room."
They both were teleported to the locker room where the room was decorated with Christmas lights, decorations, and a small Christmas tree with the Middleton Mad Dog ornaments on it. Food was laid out on three folding tables to the right side of the room.
All of the MHS cheerleaders were there. Liz, Hope, Marcella, and Crystal were there in baggy carpenter jeans with long-sleeved croptops. Liz and Hope were wearing green croptops and Marcella and Crystal were in red. Tara and Jessica came in sporting white and red sweater croptops, respectively, with the Club Banana baggy denim overalls. Tara had both straps of her overalls hooked while Jessica had the left strap up and the right strap off. There were some sophomores and a couple freshmen there, along with six seniors on the team.
"Spirit...I remember this!" Bonnie gasped, "It was the annual MHS Cheerleader Christmas Party! Every year, according to Mad Dog tradition, the cheer squad usually hosts it in the locker room and decorate it!"
The young Bonnie and Kim were the next to come into the locker room, followed by Ron. Like Tara and Jessica, Bonnie and Kim were in the CB baggy overalls. Kim had both straps hooked and, Bonnie being Bonnie, the brunette went with the both straps undone look held up by a belt through the beltloops. Ron was in his usual outfit with Rufus.
Kim tapped a glass cup three times with a metal fork to get the attention of the other cheerleaders.
"Okay, girls, and Ron, we're here for the 30th Annual MHS Cheerleader Christmas Party!" Kim exclaimed. "As is the tradition, before we begin to dive in on the food, I think we should give out the gifts first. The seniors are the one who will go first."
"Boo-yah, KP!" Ron exclaimed, "I can't wait to show you your gift!"
Kim giggled, "I know it'll be something nice, Ron!"
The young Bonnie muttered, "Don't get amped up for it, K. You know that he's only going to get you something lame-o from Smarty-Mart!"
"Can you even explain the undone overall straps thing, girl?" the Spirit Monique asked, "It looks like you'll poke somebody's eye out with the straps swingin' like that!"
The older Bonnie looked at the Spirit Monique and said, "I remember watching a MC Honey video in my junior year and the female backup dancers were were wearing them. I kinda incorporated it and it just became my thing, you know?"
The Spirit Monique muttered, "Let's just FF about 40 minutes..." She fast-forwarded through most of the gift-giving.
"You gave almost everyone a gift...key word being almost..."
Ron gave Kim a nice $99 necklace and, to Bonnie's surprise, it did NOT come from Smarty-Mart. He bought it from the Middleton Mall.
Kim gasped and put it around her neck.
"Thanks, Ron! I really love it a lot!"
"Anything I can do for a friend!" came Ron's sweet reply from his mouth.
The gift shocked Bonnie!
"What?! How did he...? Why did he...?"
"Because he is my best friend, Bonnie!" Kim explained, "He can buy any good Christmas gift for me, be it from Smarty-Mart or not."
"The mascot can barely tie his own shoelaces plus he is at the very bottom of the MHS Food Chain and yet he buys you this?" the young Bonnie bitterly complained.
"And Bonnie, I did give you a present from Club Banana." Kim countered, "A pair of new shoes!"
"Yeah, I always wanted them." Bonnie said.
"Now...where's my gift...and Ron's?" Kim demanded.
Bonnie nervously giggled and replied, "Don't worry, Possible! I have them...in my car!"
She rushed
"And you never came back to that party." the Spirit Monique added.
The older Bonnie was shocked, "Possible...actually bought gifts for me?"
"But you never bought any for Kim or Ron in return..." the Spirit Monique mentioned, "Not once did you give any gift for them from freshman to senior year. You were so caught up in the rivalry with Kim so much that you forgot to set aside the only day of the year when you can put away those petty differences and embrace your fellow person."
"Spirit, this isn't a Snowman Hank special!" the older Bonnie growled, but then looked at herself in her younger self's little mirror on her open locker room door.
"But is it true?" she also added, "Have I become THAT cold and bitchy to Possible and Stoppable? All for the sake of the MHS Food Chain!"
"In all brutal honesty, Bonnie, I would take that as a yes." the Spirit Monique replied. "Not only did you act that way to them all the time, but you also acted that way towards Jessica and Tara as well, girl! It got so bad that Tara cut you off for a few years! You even called her a fugly slut and she slapped you on the face! And you know the MHS food chain ain't worth nothin' once high school was over!"
"Unfortunately, yes." Bonnie sighed, as if she was admitting "I wanted to maintain my image of being the 'Queen B' of Middleton High so bad..."
The Spirit Monique interrupted her again, "...that it totally destroyed your family and it is almost currently destroying you, had it not been your teaming up with Kim."
Bonnie "What? Oh right, that time we got stuck to each other and got captured by the Demented guy!"
"Dementor!" the Spirit Monique groaned, "Geez, girl, you're really bad at remembering names today!"
"Whatever his name in!" Bonnie dismissed with a wave of her hand. "Point is, I did the 'save the world' thing with her that one time."
"Other than that, with the power base you had with your dad being chief of police and your mom being on the MUSD school board, you played practical jokes on Kim and Ron and anyone you saw as lower-class in Middleton High's ecosystem." the Spirit Monique explained.
"Yeah, the small pranks were...doable...but I wanted to aim big..." Bonnie sighed, "I wanted to humiliate Possible and Stoppable in the most epic pranks imaginable."
"Ahhh...that would explain the two most infamous pranks you tried to pull on Kim and Ron in high school." the Spirit Monique said, folding her arms. "The AddressBook Prank of October 2006 and the Senior Prom prank of May 2007."
"I would have gotten away with those pranks...had it not been for my own damn pride and ego..." Bonnie muttered and cursed "And for those two wicked sisters not causing a damn mess with Mom and Dad."
"Speaking of which, I think this calls for a little scene change...let's FF four more years later!"
The scene changed around Bonnie and the Spirit Monique.

Week Two
Tumblr media
Contentment, Stillness, Death, Darkness, Silence
Hello again! Snakeroot apprentice Jenna here:)
Before I get going on this week, I just wanted to share that last week’s Mystery Herb (#1) was…..California Poppy! Used to aid in sleep and relaxation, as well as aide in addiction and minor pain. California poppy grows in front of my house back home so this was a sweet nostalgia of home and my life right now.
I started off this week heavily dabbling with the In Dreams potion made by Snakeroot. Each night I would take it and allow my dreams to unfold throughout the night. They were the most vivid dreams I have ever experienced, but I could not remember them in the mornings.  I would wake up feeling like I had lived multiple lives and with hardly any energy to participate in my daily life. I found that if I woke myself self up during the dream to write it down I would “lose my place” in a fun adventure I was having during the dream. So I chose to let them occur and then be forgotten.
The only dream I can truly remember took place in the auditorium of my school. There was a light switch on the wall labeled CO2, this switch was a fun new installation designed to allow students to float. This would really expand the possibilities of creating a performance art piece! I played around with the CO2 switch and realized it only worked if I exhaled, and the more I released air from my lungs, the higher I could float. I found myself to be very good at the ‘releasing’ and in the dream I took pride in my abilities. To me, this seemed like a message from my subconscious telling me to just be my soft, introverted self, and let go of this ‘ideal’ sociable version of myself that I’m not right now.  The idea of being light and floating is the reward for relaxing into the gentleness that I am.
This week also challenged me a bit.  For some reason, I felt more introverted and in my shell.  I asked myself to speak more, and participate more.  My natural instinct was to be quiet and lay down and not interfere or involve myself in anything more than a bath or a walk. The parts of me that get external validation from being extroverted and playful hated being portrayed as quiet. But ultimately, allowing the stillness to be there and just observing it is how dark and light balance each other out.
Early on in the week I did a tarot pull that explained I was going to face darkness soon. But that soon after I would know and appreciate the mending between my dark parts and my light parts. This ‘dark’ component that I was now faced with was slightly intimidating. But I now see that this presented itself in sleep, a representation of rest and death. Along with my heavy participation in the dream world and my lack of participation in the wake, many points of death came up for me. I went by the cemetery where my grandfather was buried for the first time ever. His death was just before my birth, and family members often think a part of him lives within me. I cannot confirm nor deny this, but without meeting him I have always felt an extremely deep connection to him. Most times he is mentioned I get emotional and wish so badly we could have known each other, we would have been the best of friends. But with death comes rebirth.
Back to Snakeroot adventures, I took my new Mystery Herb (#2) this week.  I tried it throughout the day, but also during bathtime and found that was the perfect place for it. Mystery Herb #2 brought up deep contentment, rest and completeness for me. I noted in my journal that its sweet crystalline texture is almost pulpy and both the color and feeling was warming in my throat.
On Wednesday I went on a lovely hike in Topanga with Rachel, where we noticed Artemisias, Buckwheat and the adorable Woolly Bluecurls. This region of Topanga, as Rachel noted is an amazing overlapping of desert plants such as Yucca cacti and more tropical-esque plants as well. From the bottom of the trail the trees and nature surrounding us was green and lush, mossy and cold. The darkness. And closer to the top of the trail was dry and warm. The light. It felt like an extremely metaphorical hike to me. That the ecosystem around us also functioned with a balance of light and dark.
I was being somewhat hard on myself this week wanting to be my fun, sarcastic and socially dynamic self. Felt like there wasn’t a lot stirring inside me, and worried I wouldn’t have information and emotion to share in this post. On Thursday night I had a big creative breaththrough and found myself really satisfied with some drawings I've been working on for a while now. Felt so good and content from this release of pent up and unorganized creativity that now felt cohesive! I took MH#2 and meditated with it for ten minutes and I found myself smiling. I couldn’t stop! I felt what I named in that moment to be ‘okayness’. Affirming to myself that I am right where I need to be on this journey of discovering myself through plant medicine. That night I fell asleep to the sound of the rain.
This week truly felt like the mending of the light and the dark. Just as the tarot cards had predicted, I found a lot of peace in the shadows. Observing the components of me that are light and easy to be around, and the parts of me that are quiet and reserved. I hope this post serves as a reminder to be gentle with yourself, allow for darkness and stillness, and not to be shy with bath taking.
Love love love,
Jenna <3

CAST INTRODUCTIONS
The play began with groups of cast members taking the stage as familiar Annie tracks played.  This is a great way to begin a school show as it gives friends and family the opportunity to spot their favourite ‘stars’ in costume prior to the action unfolding. It also gave the students an opportunity to get some jitters out taking the stage alongside their peers before their is any need to remember lines or hit cues.

…to be continued
Please note photos from the show will continue to be uploaded throughout the week ahead. Bookmark this page to visit again in a few days for more from this great show.
