This is one of the sillier things I’ve done. I have now created the only fanfic for Locked Down on AO3. After the @markgatissappreciationsociety​ viewing of the film, we decided that Donald (MG’s character) needed more of a happy ending. (Mainly because it was more fun talking about that than watching the movie.) So here’s a new career and a new partner for him. Big thanks to @daleslight​ for providing a lot of inspiration and good ideas, and to the MGAS for a wonderful watchalong.

Revisiting the first official MGAS watchalong, from Feb 2021... it’s true, he was adorable in it. (Although not in it enough.) 

I am still the only person to have ever written Donald fanfic. He needed more to happen in his life.

Watchalong to Finish April: Midsomer Murders

Our next watchalong will be this coming Saturday, April 29, at the usual 2 PM Central US time / 8 PM UK time.

We will be watching "The Sword of Guillaume" episode of Midsomer Murders from 2010 in which Mark plays Rev Giles Shawcross. He looks a little concerned here. (Eyebrow acting!)

But I'm sure it will all be fine! (I hope.)

The Next Watchalong ... This Saturday

The next MGAS watchalong is once again a listen-along. We're gathering this coming Saturday, February 25, to listen to "Hunting Ghosts with Gatiss and Coles", the audio show that aired in December (the month of ghosts with Gatiss).

We'll also listen to another podcast... which one should it be?

This Saturday, February 11, at 2:30 PM Central US time (8:30 PM UK) we will be watching Doctor Who: Twice Upon a Time, starring Mark Gatiss as The Captain. (Please note time adjustment.)

Meeting tomorrow!

The MGAS will be gathering tomorrow, at 3 PM Central US time (9 PM UK time - note this is later than usual) for a short meeting to listen to a podcast and catch up.

We’re back! The next Mark Gatiss Appreciation Society watchalong will be this coming Saturday at 2 PM US Central/8 PM UK time. We’ll be watching Operation Mincemeat, about a WWII deception operation. The movie has been called “an engaging and well-acted wartime drama”. 

Mark Gatiss plays Ivor Montagu, who in real life was a filmmaker, screenwriter, Communist, and founder of the International Table Tennis Federation. He was thought to be a spy, according to Wikipedia, because his “passionate support of international ping-pong seemed so eccentric to MI5 that they assumed it had to be a cover for something else.”

I’m told there’s not much Mark in this movie, but based on the few pictures I grabbed, what there is, is choice. And there’s Colin Firth to make up for it.

Our last viewing of the annus horribilis that was 2022 will be A Christmas Carol: A Ghost Story tomorrow, December 30, at 2:30 US Central time, 8:30 UK time. Mark plays Marley and wrote the adaptation. Let's end the year with shared festivity and a hope for positive change.
