you really wanted to hear them sing, didn’t you? if only your crew mates had tied the knots a little tighter. unlike those that got the icarus answer, your pride comes not from the beauty of freedom. but from the need to be correct. you said you could handle it and you were determined to prove it. that was your downfall. you are probably the glue of your friend group and love the pirate aesthetic. you probably crave walks on the beach and like showing your friends the little treasures you collect in your daily life - like a pretty stone or a fun stick

i love mermaids and sirens! the pirate aesthetic! pretty stones and fun sticks! BEING RIGHT. and in this situation i would be. why? because asexual pirates are immune to sirens! cf this iconic post with fantastic art by harblkun. basically, being asexual is like having a super power. it’s only useful under very specific and limited circumstances, but it's still awesome.

Before Island living releases for my country I just want to make a huge shout-out to my dad who bought this pack for me and my sister :) 

All I had to do to get it was mow the lawn ONCE. (I mowed the lawn for months to get cats and dogs) I just want rant a bit abt how much I appreciate it before my dad gets home from work. I was screaching at the official reveal trailer when my dad came up to tell me I was being loud, and he goes “Hey isn’t that your sims game?” 

me: “yeah. new pack came out! Gorgeous hairs and clothes and MERMAIDSSSSS. Im so psyched to make cc for it!”

dad: “Oh. how much is it?”

me: “$40... I will mow the lawn and pick up dog poop for a month if we can get it earlyyyyy” (classic begging child noises)

dad: “Its fine just mow the back this week and I’ll get it for you.”

me: :o

so yeah thanks dad :)

Mermaids & Dryads 

so this is happening! as previously mentioned, i was obsessed with this maker for about a week and a half last month. i began using it as a reward to myself for Getting Things Done. now i have all these characters and nothing to do with them, so i shall force you, tumblr frens, to endure them. apologies to any twitter frens who’ve already seen them.

in the top row, we have the mermaids. my first merlady was an attempt to create a slightly more realistic image of what a humanoid marine mammal would look like than we commonly see in mermaid iconography. those ears inspired me. i gave her red skin because so many underwater creatures are red, although most mammals tend to be in the white-black range. red seemed a bit more interesting, though. she has very short hair and no eyebrows because marine mammals are almost completely hairless; and she has very large eyes for the seeing of things. the flower was a gift from her beloved, merlady 2, to whom she gave a flower in return. it’s an underwater flower; just go with it. merlady 2 came later. she's a bit more fanciful and fancified, possessed of the flowy hair commonly associated with mermaids. her people dwell in deeper waters than those of merlady 1 and are therefore higher caste in mer society. areas of their skin are beautifully bioluminescent, allowing them to see and be seen in the darkness of those depths. these two merladies fell in forbidden inter-caste love and now merlady 2 visits shallower waters secretly whenever she can to meet her lower caste lover. one day they'll swim away together into more egalitarian waters where they can be together without fear or shame.

in the bottom row we have the dryads. i was inspired by a gender of the day post: “The gender of the day is a dryad with sharp eyes.” dryad 1 is a native of trees with darker bark, such as pines and figs. dryad 2 is a native of trees with pale bark, such as birches and ghost gums. i guess i really liked that yellow flower, huh?

I’m Actually a Mermaid

Many of you may not know this but I am actually a mermaid. Yes, I’ve been a mermaid since birth, but I have only just recently grown my tail. Now, I’m going to answer some (not-so) frequently asked questions. 

How are you a mermaid?

Inside the womb, before I was born, a ceremony was preformed to bless me so I would come out healthy. The ceremony went wrong and turned me to a mermaid. They didn’t know that, obviously, and I was left with a cleft lip and palate. 

When did you “grow” your tail?

I was thirteen, going into ninth grade. It was summer time.

How did you find out you were a mermaid?

When I was a small[er] child, I LOVED the water (still do). My family called me a “water spirit”. That was the first sign. The second was when I went swimming when no-one else did, and I felt more comfortable in the water than I did out of the water. I didn’t know for sure until I grew my tail. 

You know mermaids are fictional, right?

That’s what they want you to think. 

Do you swim frequently?

In the summer, yes. I try to swim as much as possible. I don’t have a pool, so I don’t swim as mush in the winter. 

Does your family know that you are a mermaid?

They think I’m kidding. 

Can you breathe underwater?

When I’m alone. It freaks everyone (including myself) out when I do it publicly. 

Why don’t you live by a beach?

I don’t know. Ask my parents. I’d totally move to Florida or California some day. 

Are you a ‘Peter Pan’ mermaid or a ‘Harry Potter’ mermaid?

I’m a “mermaid” mermaid. Those two types of mermaids are fictional. Use your common sense. 

What color is your tail?

Green. Like Ariel. I can change it, though.
