me seeing all of the MD discourse once again cursing out Gil Chae and calling her weak/a bitch for still turning down Jang Hyun's proposal before he left with the Crown Prince:

That was vvvvv hot.
It's a positive sign she wants a divorce, not him dead, heh. Honestly, liked that she was still concerned about him.
Mmmm, kinky.
But also, he has so been driven mad.
This is all vvvvvv sexy but I am soooooo grrrrrrrrr that unlike in the novel, he actually didn't look. Give us something! (Also, so many subsequent actions by him in the novel is because he looked, saw the mole, confirmed kidnapper was right, and as a result reasonably assumed for a bit that she and kidnapper are having an affair. How is that gonna play out here? Is he just gonna assume but not bother to confirm when he so easily can? Or what?)
My sympathy for you is limited, young lady, since you are the one that sexted your husband as your own kidnapper aka go on with your feral self!
Yes, yes they can, this is only ep 3.
It's TV so apparently moles on upper thighs are off limits.
This is gloriously "I am sorry you are offended" apology and it cracks me up.
I realize we won't have any of the novel's sex/sex-adjacent scenes because it's MBC not HBO, but they couldn't let him look at her freaking thigh? (And in the novel she got hella turned on by it btw, because they are a couple where they apparently match each other's freak.)

Totally normal reaction given both of our main characters with POV's given screen time hate him. At the very least Will does. It took me a few watch throughs and finally one more with a person who liked him immediately before I got it.
Chilton is a character who craves success and has a constant need to prove himself, though he tends to oversell himself in the process. It's relatable for anyone experiencing Imposter Syndrome and still wanting to have a life they like. The folly is whether one is qualified or not, the worst luck seems to come out of nowhere and they're only surviving by the skin of their teeth.
It's even more relatable for said people that he can be annoying and narcissistic because someone experiencing Imposter Syndrome in a professional space will constantly have to talk about themselves as more than they feel they are, leaving them to wonder if co-workers and other professionals find them vain, prideful, and annoying when all they are trying to do is succeed in life
Just learned that hannibal fans like fredrick chilton? Someone please explain this to me, I do not understand. I get extreme homicidal urges every time he is on screen
#i hope that makes sense#any chilton stans please chime in with nuance and other perspectives#this is based on what the person who changed my mind said and what i have since extrapolated#i dont hate chilton anymore#he's not a great person given his actual actions in the show but who is in mbc hannibal lol#nbc hannibal#frederick chilton#chilton

not to sound like an annoying karen, but i honestly, truly feel that netflix has fucked up the kdrama genre for good.
just 10-ish years ago, there were kdramas that the big 3 korean channels (SBS, MBC, KBS) would broadcast and then there were kdramas that the main cable channels (jTBC and tvN) would broadcast. and between those groupings, you got everything. you got 16-20 episodes of dramas that had heartfelt writing, filmed with bright colors, filmed with concise plots, that most of the time, ended WELL. you got a GOOD ending that was complete. the works felt authentically south korean. yes, there were cheesy tropes and moments that made you cringe, but it felt so real. and you had SO many kdramas airing during the week! you couldn't keep track of just how many!
cut to netflix coming in and making it big with kdramas with squid game and some romantic works and then suddenly they (and disney+) are making these short kdramas, less than 10 episodes, with generic filters, generic plots, and poorly written scripts that are just mere shadows of what kdramas used to be. they end shitty 90% of the time. and worst of all, they feel like american shows. and no, i don't mean sex scenes or action scenes because hey, i love change there, but i mean the entire VIBES are just off. they're not the kdramas i fell in love with, the ones that felt so human. and thanks to these big, foreign companies coming in, the main broadcast channels have basically shut down 1/2 their timeslots, and so many dramas aren't even getting aired these days.
yes times change progress is great robots will probably replace us all in a few years blah blah, but it's really depressing to me personally since i have such fond memories of the utter joy of kdramas, especially from the golden era of 2008-2017. and while there are some that escape the netflix!americanized! curse, it's unfortunately the majority that remain nothing but commercial puppets, rather than authentic entertainment.

Big Ocean's Debut
On April 20th, the boy group Big Ocean debuted on Korea's Day of People with Disabilities. This group interests me because all three members have hearing difficulties. To my knowledge, this is the first time in K-Pop history that an entire group was intentionally recruited and debuted with hearing challenges.
"Hope"
Their debut song is a remake of H.O.T's "Hope". I've talked about this song at length in the past, but since that post, I've come to learn more context around it. For example, when I made that post, I wasn't aware that prior to its release, H.O.T did a tour in the US and donated the proceeds to help Korea during the IMF Crisis.
Kangta made "Hope" to comfort people who were going through a rough time regardless of what the exact situation was. Since its release, it's been covered countless times. It's also standard for it to be the final song at SMTown concerts; most notably during the New Year's Eve concerts during Covid as a final message to the audience that whatever your life is like, never give up hope that things will get better.
H.O.T & Disabilities
If you're only familiar with H.O.T through "Candy" or Reply 1997, you probably aren't aware of the overall theme of their discography. Every title track from their 5 albums commented on a social issue.
1st Album (We Hate All Kinds of Violence): Warrior's Descendants - Condemned bullying and bystanders who observe but don't interfere.
2nd Album (Wolf and Sheep): Wolf and Sheep - Ranted about a hospital massacre by North Koreans at the start of the Korean War.
3rd Album (Resurrection): Line Up - Criticized how rigid Korea can be.
4th Album (I-YAH): I-YAH - Demanded accountability from all those whose actions led to 23 deaths in the Sealand Training Center Fire, and expressed the nation's grief.
5th Album (Outside Castle): Outside Castle - Criticized people who discriminate against those with disabilities.
It's with Outside Castle in particular that we see the group's stance. It was the first title track produced by the members. One version of the album's cover art has Braille on it. The choreography for "Outside Castle" includes sign language at the end that reinforces the message that people with disabilities should be loved just the same as people without disabilities. The story version of the music video has a storyline about an athlete no longer able to run after an accident, but after spending time recovering, he's able to race again.
While Heejun took the helm for Outside Castle, it wasn't the only time an H.O.T member was involved with a song dealing with disabilities. The latest example of this was seen last year, when on April 22nd, "When I Close My Eyes" was released by Kangta and Lee Areum (of the Hanbit Arts Troupe, which is a performance group for the visually impaired).
Big Ocean & Glow
This trio is comprised of members Ji-Seok (지석), Chan-Yeon (찬연), and Hyun-Jin (현진). They are under Parastar Entertainment, which currently has Cha Haley as CEO.
Together, they're paving the way to show how idols with hearing impairments can be successful. In this JooAng Daily article, two accommodations, in particular, were mentioned for the members, "A large screen with a visual metronome kept the members in sync with the music, and their wristwatches also vibrated on each beat." They trained for about a year and a half. None of the members intended on being idols before they found out about the Big Ocean project, yet they gave it a chance and made it to debut.
"Glow" is their debut single. While H.O.T's song was known by its Korean name "Light (빛)" and English name "Hope", "Glow" is also a correct translation for 빛. This is the first time SM has allowed a remake of the song (outside of SMTown) and they were on board for this. Their debut performance was on MBC's Show! MusicCore, and the choreography included Korean, American, and International sign language -- which made it even more inclusive.
Wrap Up
Big Ocean is a group to keep tabs on. The way Parastar Entertainment prepared for their debut could potentially be a blueprint for future groups with hearing impairments.
As an H.O.T fan, I'm fond of this remake because it understands the point of the original and was executed with sincerity. Additionally, I hope they do a remake of "Outside Castle" later in their career. Just like Suju was right for "Haengbok" and NCT Dream was right for "Candy", I believe Big Ocean was the perfect group to remake "Hope".
Hopefully, this group will have many years together and open the door for idols with other disabilities to debut.

Upcoming Dramas in August 2023 that are a must watch!
It is never too early to get your calenders decorated with what will really keep you busy in the upcoming month and honestly, I am a huge procrastinator in almost every other subject except one... can you guess it? Yep, it's kdramas. I need to get that mental preparation running so I can be thrilled, haunted, humoured and of course, romanticised to the point of desperation. And if you are like me, then I can guarantee: August is going to be your month!
The First Responders 2
Starting with this sensational thriller that took us by storm with its first season, The First Responders is finally back with its sequel. We are finally going to be off that cliffhanger that made us lose our minds. As a fan of crime thrillers and *ahm-ahm* drool-able people in uniforms, can you imagine the sequences with firefighters and cops at play, together?! I am excited to see how their combined efforts will continue on the restless path of justice. Well, if somebody looks for me in August, you all have a clue now for where I would be.
This season will follow on the tracks of its prequel and air on Disney+ for all audiences and will take over the slot occupied previously by SBS' Revenant on Fridays and Saturdays.
Moving
Moving is a webtoon adaptation from Writer Kang Pool's webcomic. The story captures three high schoolers, who have superpowers that they want to hide from people. They, however, have inherited these powers from their parents who struggle to protect them from letting their powers be misused.
I'm not too empathetic about the latest inclination of kdramas towards webtoon adaptations but as an avid viewer, I cannot deny the crazy amount of interesting tales that have come to life from toons, all of which are a sight for sore eyes. But Moving really grabbed my attention from the distinct plot. I am expecting a lot of parent-child dynamic and a lot of (hopefully credible) action scenes.
Moving will be airing on Disney+ for all audiences.
My Dearest
Yet another period drama that will tug at your heartstrings. Set in the Joseon era during the Qing invasion, there is a great suffering of people from all works of life. In an unforeseen storytelling, love blooms in the ruckus between a man of complex character and dark secrets and an almost-too-confident noble lady. Will their journey be a smooth sailing or will it be overturned by storms? We'll have to see.
With the serene covers and the bright, picturesque snippets, I do feel a very strange conviction that we'll be dragged through the darkest angst in this series. I am praying that they won't pull a Scarlet Heart Ryeo with this one *cries in sad endings*.
My Dearest will be airing on the slot previously occupied by MBC's Numbers on Fridays and Saturdays.
The Killing Vote
Do the loosely tied law bindings sometimes call for extreme measures by the anonymous greater masses? Such happens in The Killing Vote when all citizens over 18 years old begin to get a polling message that makes them choose whether a person should receive the death penalty or not. If the majority votes in favour of the death penalty, the offender is then taken out by an anonymous masked persona. This stirs up the authorities and hence begins a blind pursue of a murderer in the facade of a lawless justice lender and the real national safeguards.
And we are at my favourite genre! This one is based on a webcomic too written by Eom Se-yoon. Ah, the way I am already jittery awaiting this drama. I feel like this has the potential to be one of the biggest dramas of 2023 or it could be a massive disappointment and a mess of plot holes. Either way, strap up your seat belts because this will be a ride for sure!
The Killing Vote will occupy the airing time of SBS Thursday's 21:00.
My Lovely Boxer
A story of a coerced bonding between a professionally ruthless Sports Agent and a lost boxer, who was previously undefeated in all her matches. Sports agent, Kim Tae-young begrudgingly takes the duty of bringing back the lost boxer, Lee Kwon-sook. Will he, whose strongest suit is extracting the most from his players, succeed in convincing someone who has no intention to return?
A sports drama with what I expect to be a painful back drops awaits us in My Lovely Boxer. I am definitely looking forward to seeing the developments that the two visibly hard headed characters will have. The action will be added bonus!
My Lovely Boxer will take over the slot previously occupied by Heartbeat on Mondays and Tuesdays.
How many of these are you going to watch? Or do you have already more dramas scheduled in your itineraries? Do let us know! I'll get the spicy chicken ready and you set up the dramas, okay? I'll see you next time.

As soon as you came out last night, my entire family gathered together and were left amazed by you. 8. I think the one that suits YoonA the best is 2, but my taste is 444 11. Yellow is a sure winㅜㅜㅜㅜㅜㅜ 12. 2 and 4 are both really insane, so beautiful and fits her so well 14. Yellow is refreshing 15. Oh it is hair ribbons for the last one. I thought it was cat’s ears ㅋㅋㅋㅋ 16. I think they are pretty in the order of 4, 2, 1, 3 19. Yellow fits you so well wow 21. Its yellow for YoonA. It is the first time I seen an Asian that matches yellow colour so well 34. No. 4 is the most beautiful 36. 444, it is refreshing and lovely 38. 44444, it is so unique and YoonA looks the best in yellow 39. No. 4, YoonA looks like a fairy 50. I agree with black! I have always think that YoonA looks good in black since a long time ago. ㅋㅋ 54. The yellow one! As soon as I saw it yesterday, I thought it’s totally Belle! 57. I don’t know, they are all pretty 60. If it is the dress itself, its 1. And I think YoonA suits 4 a lot, but all the dresses look good on her. 61. No. 2 is pretty too but I I fell in love with no. 4 as soon as I saw it 68. No. 4, her face is shining 71. No. 4, I have always thought that YoonA and yellow are the best combination ㅋㅋ 73. No. 4, it is unique and a good match 75. 4444, she seriously look like a fairy 76. No. 3 and 4. No. 1 & 2 look like wedding pictorial 79. 44444, it’s a Disney princess-nim 85. Looking at it again, the details on the pink dress are so pretty as well. 86. They are all pretty, but no. 1 is my personal taste ㅠㅠㅠㅠ 88. 4444 but how can they all be so pretty? Yoongphrodite~ 89. Wow, they all look good on you and are pretty, but it is still the 💛 dress 99. No.1 and the black dress itself, look like an elegant queen.. No. 4, YoonA looks like a fairy. (YoonA’s face is pretty in No. 3 but the dress itself is so so) 108. No. 4 looks like a spring fairy 110. No. 4 is definitely the live action of a Disney princess 114. No. 2 is pretty. But they are all pretty 117. I like no. 3 the most. But yellow one is really cute
121. No. 4! YoonA changed my world, which was only Emma when it comes to yellow dresses 123. To be honest, yellow suits you so well, but my favourite is no. 1ㅋㅋㅋ it is so pretty that I held my breath.. 137. Yesterday, yellow dress is the one top. To be honest, YoonA will look very pretty even in rags, but the yellow dress last night was really the best 141. 222, the best harmony 144. It is my first time looking closely at YoonA’s dresses only because I have been looking at YoonA’s face. But the dress itself seems to be 1 or 3. But yellow suits YoonA incredibly well, so 4… 166. It’s completely 44444444. Yellow is your personal colour. 185. No. 1 is so pretty that I saved the photo. 187. Wow I really can’t choose, all 4 of them are pretty. 190. 111. The first dress is the prettiest and the most luxurious 197. She is so freaking pretty at the Gayo Daejejeon 199. Yellow!! Followed by black, the rest of the dresses aren’t pretty 210. No. 4, she is a spring warm tone goddess. There are very few people who looks good in a yellow dress. 212. No. 2... is that an angel 219. No. 4 is the best. It is also interesting to see something as fanciful as no. 3 220. My preference is just Lim YoonA... ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠShe is really so pretty ㅠㅠㅠㅠYoonA is so great that I wonder what she would have done if she wasn’t a celebrity, and I suspect if celebrity was made just for her ㅠㅠㅠ♡ 233. Everything looks good but the yellow is really popping. It is so bright 245. I scrolled down saying 1...2....3....4. Why are they all so pretty that I can't choose? 258. I forgot to look at the dresses while staring at her face, so I have to scroll up again and restart ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ it’s the Drama Awards dress, but the yellow colour is pretty 260. No. 2, but they are all so pretty. Is there anyone else that looks so good with ribbons? 280. No. 1 is highly beautiful 283. 222, it is so pure ㅠㅜㅠㅠㅜㅜ 298. For me, its no. 2, so pure and elegant. But if I am just looking at the dress, its no. 4. But the hairstyle and makeup is a bit of a pity. Source: TheQoo Trans: mystarmyangel

MBC Drama Numbers First Script Reading Making
Numbers is described as a human office action drama where Jang Howoo, played by Kim Myungsoo, realizes justice against irregularities of a huge accounting firm in the most accountant but also not the most accountant-like way.
According the to news, Myungsoo showed a passionate performance completely immersed in his character, Howoo, who is the first high school graduate accountant at Taeil Accounting Firm, one of the big 4 agencies in the country. Howoo has a goo sense of numbers and ability to adapt needed by accountants, along with a strong sense of justice that he once dreamed of becoming a police officer. As if he conducted a thorough character analysis, Kim Myungsoo portrayed the perfect facial expressions, speech, and gaze for Jang Howoo.

I saw this comment "it's a company apology and not an apology from the person(s) themselves so this shit does not count 1 fuckin bit"
??? 😭 there are plenty of companies that won't even acknowledge anything happened. Its a small step but a good step! I wish people would diminish attempts made to right wrongs
honestly do these people think ateez should just cancel their tour so san yunho and seonghwa could go back to sk and make a formal apology or smth ???
i get being upset but these ridiculous demands came mostly from people who are not affected. that's what pisses me off. the same people who said "if you're not desi, just shut up" but then their next tweet is "well i'm noy desi but...." and it's followed by "we should spam kq emails and bstag" or "people need to shut up about the tour, your experience is not important bc people on the internet is trying to say smth" and even "those who are going to the fansign should sacrifice their time to address this issue directly to the boys" like oh my god you sound insane
and dude it's not like kq said "ok we heard you. we'll get back to you" they jumped into action as best they could heck they managed to get mbc to make the video private or smth but point is people can't see it anymore. the steps will not be acknowledge as long as it's not EXACTLY to what these knuckleheads demand and it's SICKENING

Just to be safe, we'll use up the Excellence's own Repair Kit and Propellant Tank.
Then, we bully a Doga from outside its range with Fairies and that should be it for the turn.
All but one of the Geara Dogas get shot down by counterattacks.
And Amuro and Char do their little song and dance.
With that, it's once again our turn, and we find ourselves in a tricky spot. Char has Blocking, and a suit with the full UC loadout of Sword, Shield and Gun. On top of that, he's a Newtype and no one here has Strike. To make matters worse, if we lower his HP to a certain threshold he'll retreat. While this means we can still beat the stage and get the secret, we'll miss out on the part he's holding and his money.
The best plan of action here is to attempt to one shot him with Amuro's Mega Beam Cannon. In an ideal world, last turn's would have hit and made this much easier on us, but it didn't.
We have Amuro cast Focus to raise the chances of hitting, and Valor to double the damage if it does hit. Ideally we'll kill him in one shot with a 100% hitrate MBC, which can't be Cut Down or Shot Down... but Shield Defense would still ruin us.
But as insurance, we have Raul. We weren't just feeding him kills to raise his Will; he's leveled up and acquired Support Attack. Support Attack lets a friendly unit join in on an adjacent ally's attack, provided the supporter hasn't acted yet this turn and has a move that can also hit the target. What's more, Support Attack gives the supporter an accuracy bonus. As a supporter, Raul has an over 90% rate of hitting Char... but his most powerful and most accurate move, the Fairies, are eligible for Cut Down and Shoot Down. Char could still sabotage us.
Trying to squeeze as much damage out of Amuro as possible, i try and get that 5% damage bonus by placing Bright next to him.
Here we go, it's all riding on this.
YEAHHHHH
Muttering some lame excuse about pushing the Sazabi too far or whatever, Char retreats like a little bitch. Londo Bell: 1, Ecofascists: 0
And for our troubles, we get 10k monies and a Booster. The humble Booster grants a unit 1 extra movement speed. It's not bombastic, but it's always nice to have some lying around.
Now the only unit left standing is a single, unyielding Geara Doga. Truly, the Neo Zeon peoples' champion.
Since the stage is basically over, let's have some fun, I purge the Cosmodriver frame. Argent Fighter time!
Hell yeah.

ATEEZ Members Accused Of Singing Offensive “Curry” Song — KQ Entertainment And MBC Respond
Fans have mixed reactions to the company’s response.
Recently, a video went viral of ATEEZ members singing a controversial song. Their company has since responded.
The song in question is the infamous “Curry.” The “Curry” song was released by the K-Pop duo Norazo over a decade ago and became a hit in South Korea. Still, “Curry” is undeniably controversial and problematic. The lyrics and choreography harmfully stereotype South Asian culture. Even the original MV depicted the duo wearing brownface.
Shanti, Shanti / Yoga, Fire / I love hot curry

Three years ago, SEVENTEEN‘s Wonwoo sang “Curry” in an episode of the group’s popular variety show Going Seventeen. At the time, Norazo’s Jo Bin issued a statement about the song since he witnessed criticism directed toward Wonwoo. He captioned his social media post, “The writing I wrote is not intended to encourage disputes. I wanted everyone to be comfortable. Sorry. You have no choice but to close the feedback window. The opinion window can be a place of controversy with each other! May everyone see us with understanding and love. We will definitely grow in a good direction!”
Norazo are not racist and do not insult religions! I’ve heard from people of Indian descent today that curry is not a part of real Indian food. The reason why I ended up working on the song without checking the facts was because I lived in Korea while knowing false information about the history of curry, so I was taught to think, ‘Curry is Indian food!’ As a result, I did not realize what the words I used to express India as a homeland actually meant and how sacred they were! This was surely my mistake!
All we wanted to do was let it be known that curry is a delicious food that anybody can enjoy through our Norazo style! I want to say that we didn’t write the song with the intent to put anyone down or cut down the culture or tradition of a precious country!
From now on, we’ll be sure to be singers who make and sing songs with proper information! We apologize to people of India and Southern Asia who were hurt by this! And lastly, just like us, our hoobae singers didn’t know it could be conveyed that way!
We hope that this song, which was ignorant about another country’s tradition, will not hurt our hoobae singers who are on their world tour while loving the fans and cultures of other countries!
— Norazo’s Jo Bin
Despite this, “Curry” has continued to be sung and disappointed idols’ fandoms. In April this year, STAYC‘s Sieun and Sumin were criticized for singing the song.
Now, ATINYs are disappointed since two members of ATEEZ sang the offensive “Curry” song. ATEEZ is considered by K-Pop fans to be one of the few groups that are not problematic or have a history of partaking in offensive behavior and cultural appropriation.
A behind-the-scenes video from MBC R <IDOL RADIO> was released yesterday. In one moment, San is dancing and singing “Curry.” Fellow member Yunho can be heard offscreen singing along softly as he was the one to bring it up originally. According to ATINYs, he commented that “DJ San sounds like shanti,” which triggered San’s singing.
The clip went viral on TikTok with 111.9K views at the time of writing. ATINYs were shocked. Some commented that Yeosang even appeared to recognize that something was wrong.
So, ATINYs quickly took to social media, including Twitter and the b.stage app, to contact the members and their company, KQ Entertainment, about the problematic nature of the song. Some have pointed out that Seonghwa previously mentioned “Curry.”
Within 24 hours, KQ Entertainment responded to ATINYs’ concerns. The company shared a thread via Twitter, explaining that their artist(s) had “unknowingly hurt” ATINYs with their actions. So, KQ Entertainment apologized on their behalf and promised to educate.
The fandom has had mixed reactions to KQ Entertainment’s statement. Many fans would like the artists themselves to address the matter.
MBC Idol Radio Korea has also released a statement regarding the video. The company took responsibility for not editing it out originally.
Hello, this is Idol Radio. In the behind-the-scenes video released on July 8, a scene with the “Curry” song was included. We apologize for the inconvenience to viewers around the world regarding the scene. Although it was not our intention, we feel deeply responsible for not being able to catch it during the editing process. We will be aware of this issue so that it does not happen again in the future. We will continue to think about better content to repay your interest and support for Idol Radio.

Additionally, the video containing the offensive scene has been taken down. The members also did not post via b.stage after their concert.
