I keep thinking about Jonathan and Herman's relationship.

Wrote a short fic about the moments before the arrest in South Bend that explores the darker aspect of their companionship, but I doubt I'll post it anywhere.

See, I don't think Jonathan is attracted to Einstein--not romantically or sexually. He might need him and feel a certain grudging affection for him--he certainly tolerates his physical touch and listens to him when he makes suggestions--but there's nothing else there for him. Einstein is a useful tool and someone to talk to when Jonathan's bored or frustrated. I'd wager he mostly keeps Einstein around for sentimental reasons at this point, like a toy you can't bring yourself to give away because what if somebody else plays with it?

Herman, though, he's obsessed. At least until the events of Arsenic and Old Lace, it's ride or die. He loves this man, he'd do anything to be close to him, even if he knows the relationship is one-sided. If Jonathan sleeps heavier than usual, you can bet Herman will marvel at him, ogle him like a tiger in a cage. Maybe he'll hold his hand, but not too long, because that would be dangerous. Jonathan's like a drug. Herman can't stop--he needs to have him around. He loves him, he's afraid of him, he's devoted to him, he's trapped by him. But he never wants to be free of him.

Maybe that changes after Arsenic, or maybe they find each other again. Whatever the case, I feel like this relationship is the sort that takes multiple people down with it when it reaches a definitive end. Neither of these men are healthy people. They're dependent on each other, but Einstein most of all, and I can't help but think he's crossed some lines without Jonathan knowing.

Ive only had Arven for twelve days but if anything ever happens to him (again) I’ll start causing a lot of problems.

But yeah. Finished the storyline in 48 hours, not all at once, and Arven managed to make it to Blorbo territory immediately and now he’s gonna bounce around my skull like that one screen saver thing for the rest of forever.

okay, listen. say i was to give in. say vampire x human fic became real. imagine having to turn someone you loved into something they hated after a near-death injury, okay ? imagine the loss of their humanity when they reawaken & having to meet someone unfamiliar to you & having to take care of them through their new urges while knowing they hate you. they did not become a vampire lover because they loved you & now they are the thing they hate.
