Who I am

I care too much about people. Sometimes this is my favorite thing about myself, it’s why I’m going into social work, it’s how I show love, and I’d like to think I’ve helped a lot of people. But when you care about people, especially broken people you’re going to get hurt. They don’t have the capacity to love you back the way you want them to and it’s worse because you try to justify it for them. You end up apologizing to yourself for the pain you feel. It feels insincere coming from your own set of lips. Stop saying you, say I.

You is easier, maybe acting like I'm my own character would make me easier to describe. Self image is so difficult. I grew up with selfish being an insult and selfless a compliment. I was set up to serve. Self love was arrogance and showboating. Compliments were frivolous, few and far between. I was set up for failure. But the way I am isn’t something I want to blame on my upbringing.

As far back as I can remember I promised myself I was going to be nothing like my mother or father. A task that is nearly impossible, but I was stubborn and incredibly determined. When someone points out similarity, even now in innocence, I can’t help it when the vile in my throat rises.

So if I’m not them, then who am I?

I’m a terrible swimmer. But I’m a lifeguard. Even if I’m struggling to keep my head above water, I’ll do whatever I can to help those around me. And only then, dry heaving when I finally get out of the water, them smiling at me as we both struggle for oxygen, do I feel good about myself.

I’m a shitty girlfriend. I want help and love to be held more than anything in the world, but asking for it is nearly impossible for me. I want to work on this, asking for help is so hard. The day my relationship ended I looked her in the eyes and told her that all I needed was for her to tell me that she wanted to be with me. If she could tell me I was worth it, everything else would be okay. She couldn’t say it.

I have a huge sweet tooth. And a terrible relationship with food and my body. I don’t deal with that in the way that I should.

I’ve seen every Mary Kate and Ashley Oslen movie ever made. I hate it when people say they love you too, mean it don’t agree with me. I like to draw but I’m not good at it. I work with kids because I wish I had that kind of role model. I love reading, a good book saved my life multiple times.

I'm terrified of never finding love. And tight spaces. And falling. And the dark.

I miss people way longer than they miss me. A car ride without singing and the windows down is incomplete. I love my grandpa more than anything in my life. He fell in front of me and went to the hospital when I was younger, I’ll never forget that feeling.

I hate being helpless.

Maybe that’s why I’m so independent. Or why I don’t like it when boys pay on the first date.

I always remember the smell of a place, or a moment, or even a person. Good smelling cologne is the way to my heart.

I’m all over the place. But inside, I’d like to think I’m pretty simple. I always keep swimming even if I suck at it, because my biggest fear is that I’ll be drowning and no one would risk it to save me too.

Un rendez-vous que les stars fashionista ne peuvent pas rater. Parmi elles cette année : les célèbres sœurs Hadid toujours habillées de façon élégante. Gigi s’est présentée dans un ensemble blanc signé The Rowe, imaginé donc par Mary-Kate et Ashley Oslen qui ont également participé à l’événement. Bella a opté quant à elle pour une tenue rose fuchsia plus sage que ses robes fendues !

Les spectateurs et photographes ont pu également voir la belle Diane Kruger. L’actrice qui a remporté le prix d’interprétation féminine au festival de Cannes portait une longue robe bleue et dorée.
