this episode is literally everything this show was supposed to be about. kaleb trying to act like vampirism is great because he's secretly afraid of being evil and trying to bring mg into that way of thinking because he cares about him and wants him to love himself. he knows how soft mg is and that he wants to help people, so he tries to encourage him in the only way he knows how. but then the conversation with ric about how not everything is black and white, when ric was trying to protect mg from his father rejecting him being a vampire

and then after landon dies and hope saves mg from the wolf bite, kaleb opens up and tells mg that he put on that act because he wanted to push down the complicated reality of being a vampire and how hard it's going to be for them going forward. and just? being honest with himself and mg about the horrible parts of being a vampire. the growth? the fact that all of these characters had so much growth from something so horrible that happened is so beautiful and it's like so perfectly done. and all of these scenes between the characters making me cry?? mg and kaleb, mg and hope, hope and rafael. they really set up a gold mine and then they just brought landon back and forgot about it after like
