🔥 Nounou en feu 🔥
There once was a nanny on fire who dressed in haute couture attire. If you come out to play in the garden she may fulfill all your burning desires.
Tumblr media
A few days ago I started working on this illustration of Nanny Ashtoreth wearing the iconic Dauphine en feu ("Dauphine on fire") outfit by Thierry Mugler (design details and references under the cut).
Yesterday I realized that the Ineffable Kinktober prompt of the day was "role play", so... that limerick just poured out of me.
Oh, and I wasn't originally planning to draw what's under the outfit, that's also something that kinda just... happened 😳

Reference images
I initially came across this image when I was compiling my Crowley-coded outfits from The Nanny post. As you can see, it was the main reference for the right side of the illustration.

Upon further research, I found out that this design was part of Thierry Mugler's Les Infernales collection (Fall/Winter 1988). The outfit was named Dauphine en feu and modeled by his muse Dauphine de Jerphanion.

I used this other image as the main reference for the left side of the illustration. It's been reposted into oblivion and nobody ever says where it came from (I suspect it's a scan from a fashion magazine but I'm not sure). I linked to the source with the best quality I could find:

Oh, and for the pose, I used this pic of David Tennant in drag:

I looked at about a million different images, including vintage lingerie lol. But those are the main ones! 😇

The House of Bernarda Alba
by Alice Birch after Federico García Lorca a co-production with Playful Productions
16 November 2023 — 6 January 2024
Lyttelton Theatre, National Theatre, South Bank, London SE1 9PX
You bring such scandal to my house In the domain of Bernarda Alba, a daughter who disobeys is no longer a daughter. Forced to live under their mother’s tight grip as they mourn their father’s death, can five sisters survive when young Adela dares for passion and freedom? Olivier Award-winner Harriet Walter (Succession) plays the formidable matriarch, guarding her reputation against the rising tide of her family’s desires in this pitch-black drama exploring the consequences of oppressing women. Following Olivier Award-winning revivals of Cabaret and A Streetcar Named Desire, Rebecca Frecknall makes her directorial debut at the National Theatre with Alice Birch’s (Normal People) radical version of Federico García Lorca’s modern masterpiece.

The Habit of Art // Alan Bennett
The Habit of Art is a 2009 play by English playwright Alan Bennett, centred on a fictional meeting between W. H. Auden and Benjamin Britten while Britten is composing the opera Death in Venice. It premiered on 5 November 2009 at the Lyttelton Theatre at the Royal National Theatre, with the central roles filled by Alex Jennings as Britten and Richard Griffiths as Auden (the latter replacing Michael Gambon, who had to withdraw from the production due to minor ill health).

Dear Octopus - National Theatre (Lyttelton Theatre) - 7.30pm Saturday 9 March 2024
This was the second show I saw on a 2 show day at the National Theatre complex, both of which were £10 tickets in the weekly Friday Rush. This play is a comedy drama about a family get together. There was a lot of characters that didn’t really impact on story and made it feel a bit long, but it had quite a few laughs and an interesting revolving set. 7/10

Created by Amit Lahav
a Gecko Production
2024年1月20日 National Theatre Lyttelton
