It’s so important to me that they named the DJ Lynne Pen for the concept album. A tribute to an icon gone too soon.

Those are the lips of Lynne Thigpen, famous to kids of the 90s for playing The Chief in the “Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?” TV show on PBS.

Y'all would have shipped these guys so bad.
Just saw a "What was your favorite PBS Kids show" poll but only one of them was old enough that I actually remembered it sO
Please note that this poll does NOT contain the Big Three PBS Kids Shows: Mister Rogers' Neighborhood, Sesame Street, or Bill Nye the Science Guy. It also does not include Barney & Friends or Teletubbies. This is deliberate on my part. (I may make a separate poll for them later.)

Cha-cha-cha! Twenty-seven years ago, Bear in the Big Blue House first aired today.
Tumblr media
For some reason, this show has got to strike a chord with me. Every time I hear Bear and the Moon character Luna singing at the end of every episode, I can't help but cry and remember how it's been years since you've ever been a kid. I remember it would air early in the morning before I head to school.
One of the fondest memories I've had was during a stormy day. I don't wanna reveal my actual age for safety reasons but let me just say that I was pretty young back then and school had just been cancelled. The only source of light in the living room was the television and the characters would start greeting us with their sing-dance number.
What is even sadder is the show has stopped airing because the crew felt they couldn't continue anymore after Lynne Thigpen (the voice behind Luna) passed away in 2003. The show ended on April 28th, 2006.

Remember Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? on PBS? Ah, the 90s! That show was the ultimate geography lesson disguised as a detective game. We’d all sit there, glued to the TV, trying to outsmart a cartoon thief with a red trench coat and hat. The Chief, played by Lynne Thigpen, was always there with her no-nonsense attitude, guiding us gumshoes through the clues.
And who could forget Rockapella, the a cappella group that not only provided the catchy theme song but also popped up with hilarious skits? It was like playing “Where’s Waldo?” but with way more suspense and a killer soundtrack. Good times, right?
